Xia Jingan arrived at Qiao Xi's banquet with Li Xing'er, praising Gu Yao's prodigious piano talent. He teased Qiao Xi for not wearing his necklace, sensing Gu Zheng's jealousy, and assured her his absence from his sister's event posed no risk now that he controlled the Xia Corporation. At Xia Chunyu's opulent birthday party, her brother's no-show sparked tears and grievances, with guests gossiping about the sisters' irreconcilable rivalry. Excitement peaked when Ji Huaizhi's car appeared outside, but he left only a gift and departed swiftly.

Yin Lianyi gave a nod. After all, Ji Huaizhi served as the heir to the Ji family. It was plenty generous of him just to swing by with a gift. Missing the banquet was no big deal.

"Chunyu, get a gift ready. We'll visit Young Master Ji someday to express our thanks."

"I understand, Grandma."

Thrilled beyond measure, Xia Chunyu snatched up the birthday present from Ji Huaizhi and moved to unwrap it.

"Hey, isn't that Young Master Ji's car?! Why's it returning?" a voice suddenly exclaimed.

The crowd quickly turned their heads. Sure enough, Young Master Ji's flashy luxury vehicle was approaching.

"Hold on! It's not heading to First Class Residential. It's veering toward the other side…"

Before the words fully landed, Ji Huaizhi's car pulled up right in front of Hua Xia Hotel. A strikingly handsome young man stepped out and strode into the hotel.

"Young Master Ji is… attending Miss Qiao's banquet!"

Yin Lianyi's face drained of color in an instant as she shot back without thinking, "No way! Xi Xi only just got to the capital. How would she even know the Ji family's young master?"

Noticing Yin Lianyi's fury, the others rushed to calm her. "Young Master Ji has some other business at Hua Xia Hotel for sure. Miss Qiao isn't the only one hosting a banquet there."

No sooner had they spoken than an attendant dashed up. "Old Madam Xia, Miss Xia, here's a gift from Mr. Yang Wei for Miss Xia."

As heir to the Yang family, Yang Wei held an exceedingly prestigious position. Yin Lianyi's look eased slightly. "Where is Mr. Yang? Bring him in for a meal."

The attendant seemed about to speak but held back. At last, he mustered his courage. "Mr. Yang headed… to the other side."

Both Ji Huaizhi and Yang Wei had made their way to Hua Xia Hotel. Was it really for Qiao Xi?

By now, someone was already reaching out to Hua Xia Hotel staff. Were there other elite families besides Qiao Xi throwing banquets there? What explained the presence of heirs from two of the top four great families?

While the group was still reeling, the Huo family's car rolled up before them. Huo Yuzhou glanced at the crowd, showing no hurry to exit. Instead, he asked his assistant, "Think she'll refuse to see me?"

"No chance. You rescued her. Miss Qiao must have let go of her grudge by now."

A bitter smile crossed Huo Yuzhou's face as he shook his head. Since Qiao Xi hadn't sent him an invite, she clearly wasn't keen on his presence. Still, he'd shown up unannounced, eager to deliver the gift straight to her hands.

With that in mind, Huo Yuzhou swung open the door, stepped out, and headed for the entrance.

Beaming widely, Yin Lianyi called out, "Mr. Huo."

All assumed Huo Yuzhou had come solely to drop off a gift, yet he approached and inquired softly, "Old Madam, won't you ask me inside?"

Stunned, Yin Lianyi promptly ushered him ahead, guiding Huo Yuzhou into the banquet hall. A soft smile played on his lips as he scanned the room, only to ask puzzled soon after, "Old Madam Xia, where's she at? I'd like to hand her the gift personally."

Yin Lianyi's face froze solid. Who was the gift meant for? Chunyu was right there in plain sight!

After a brief pause, she nudged Xia Chunyu ahead. "Chunyu, say hello to Mr. Huo right away."

Though not quite the sensation Ji Huaizhi was in the capital's social scene, Huo Yuzhou had carved out a strong name abroad. Xia Chunyu offered a bashful smile. "Hello, Mr. Huo."

Huo Yuzhou kept his composure steady, offering no quick reply.

That's when it dawned on everyone that something was amiss. With a cold sneer, Huo Yuzhou remarked, "Isn't today the Xia family daughter Qiao Xi's banquet? Why's Old Madam Xia throwing a party for the adopted daughter instead? Favoring an adopted child so blatantly doesn't reflect well on the Xia family's dignity."

His words dropped like a bomb, silencing the entire banquet hall.

Xia Chunyu's cheeks burned with humiliation. Huo Yuzhou had come seeking Qiao Xi?

Finally snapping to it, Yin Lianyi's face grew stormy. "Mr. Huo, Xi Xi's celebration is across the street at the other hotel. You took a wrong turn. Why belittle Chunyu like this?"

Huo Yuzhou's brow furrowed, then twisted into a smirk. "I heard Old Madam Xia went all the way to Li City to fetch Qiao Xi back and planned a bash at First Class Residential. Figured it was for Xi Xi, naturally. Never imagined it was the adopted daughter's birthday do. Guess I'll be off then."

All the guests exchanged glances, convinced that Huo Yuzhou's explanation held water. With Old Madam Xia having recognized Qiao Xi, it was perfectly reasonable to assume the banquet celebrated her. Little wonder Mr. Huo had wandered into the incorrect venue.

Once Huo Yuzhou departed, a profound silence gripped the banquet hall. Not a soul dared utter a word, terrified of inciting Old Madam Xia's ire.

Yin Lianyi reined in her fury and declared, "The banquet is about to start. Please take a seat."
