Kill the Sun Chapter 989 It Is Done

Previously on Kill the Sun...
Daniel found himself at a critical juncture as the thin General engaged him in battle. Struggling to regain control, he relied on the Duskbringer’s guidance to rally the Nightmen into a defensive position. As the two forces clashed, the Duskbringer displayed his mastery of Pure Energy techniques, utilizing illusions and teleportation to gain the upper hand. However, the General proved formidable, landing a heavy blow on the Duskbringer. With the fight intensifying, the Duskbringer consumed the General's severed arm to gather biological knowledge, seeking a moment to recuperate amid the chaos unfolding around them.

Launching into a fresh offensive, the gaunt General resumed its assault on the Nightmen.

To counter the onslaught, the Nightmen funneled their energy into a defensive perimeter, parrying the incoming strikes.

However, the task proved grueling.

While the General struggled to land a finishing blow, every one of its strikes carried cataclysmic force.

The Nightmen were depleting their reserves at a much faster rate than their foe; it was only a matter of time before they were drained of energy.

"How much longer must we hold?!" one warrior sent a frantic transmission to the Duskbringer.

"It is finished," the Duskbringer replied via mental link.

In a flash of teleportation, he materialized directly before the thin General, who reacted with an immediate counter-strike.

Two razor-sharp claws impaled the Duskbringer’s arms to pin him down, while the remaining talons lunged for his skull and chest.

DING! DING!

The lethal blades were suddenly intercepted by a set of identical weapons!

The Nightmen stared in disbelief as eight extra limbs erupted from the Duskbringer’s torso.

To their astonishment, these appendages were perfect replicas of the General’s own arms!

'The benefits of a purely organic form are undeniable,' the Duskbringer mused as he thrust his remaining limbs forward.

Unlike the Nightmen, who had integrated various mechanical components into their frames, the Duskbringer was a creature of pure biology.

He was entirely flesh and blood.

Nick had naturally granted the Duskbringer absolute mastery over his own biological structure.

Every physical composition came with its own set of trade-offs.

A standard human frame can exert its full power through just two arms. After all, true strength isn't just in the hands; it originates from the back, chest, core, and legs.

A masterfully executed punch engages every muscle fiber in the body.

Adding more limbs wouldn't necessarily amplify raw power, as the body's musculature can only support one or two full-strength strikes simultaneously.

Yet, a two-armed limit severely restricts one's adaptability.

When faced with a barrage of simultaneous attacks, a multitude of arms is far superior for defense.

But one cannot simply sprout new limbs at will, can they?

Actually, they can!

The secret to maintaining the ultimate combat form is to ensure the body remains in a state of constant flux.

To achieve this, Nick had crafted a specialized Technique. It permitted the Duskbringer to devour biological matter, storing the consumed Pure Energy to be manifested as additional appendages.

Because this Pure Energy remained undigested, the physical transformation was merely fleeting.

Over time, these extra limbs would be drained of Pure Energy and wither away.

But during their brief existence, their utility was unmatched.

The Duskbringer lashed out at the General's attacking limbs, severing two more.

He had to coordinate several of his new arms to cut through one of the General's, as the Pure Energy he had absorbed was spread thin across his eight new limbs, reducing their individual strength.

As the General scrambled backward, the Duskbringer instantly absorbed the two severed limbs, fueling his additional arms with even more Pure Energy.

Seizing the opening, the Nightmen launched a synchronized assault.

They surged forward this time, successfully encircling the gaunt General.

With its limb count diminished, the General struggled to parry the incoming storm, and several strikes bypassed its thinning defenses to hit its fragile armor.

The plating shattered, spraying the area with vibrant purple blood.

The General realized the tide had turned against it.

Victory was no longer an option.

It turned to flee, but in that instant, ten illusions of the Duskbringer manifested, each tearing open a spatial rift.

A chaotic web of portals surrounded the retreating General, unleashing a deluge of attacks from every direction.

The creature evaded nearly every strike until a final portal materialized directly in its path.

One of the Duskbringer’s temporary arms reached through.

Sensing the physical weight of the limb, the General identified it as the real body and unleashed a whirlwind of blades at it.

Suddenly, the arm began to bloat unnaturally.

BOOOOOM!

It detonated!

The force of the blast swatted the blades aside and sent the thin General reeling backward.

The Duskbringer had transmuted the stolen Pure Energy into a volatile, unstable substance akin to antimatter.

Another gateway opened before the General, and another unstable limb emerged.

BOOOOM!

The sequence repeated three more times.

While the blasts didn't inflict lethal damage, they effectively halted the General's escape.

Finally, a primary portal opened, and the Duskbringer himself charged through.

He slammed directly into the gaunt General.

BANG!

The two entities collided, locked chest-to-chest.

The General immediately attempted to shred the Duskbringer’s back with its remaining blades.

BANG!

However, the Duskbringer used his primary arms to pin the General's weapons down.

Simultaneously, his extra limbs coiled tightly around the General's frame.

The blade-tips of these temporary arms began to glow and swell behind the General's back.

BOOOOOM!

A massive explosion erupted!

Being caught in multiple point-blank detonations was more than the General could handle; a significant portion of its back was vaporized in the blast.

The Duskbringer had used the General’s own torso as a shield against the shockwave.

Despite the damage, the General refused to stop, striking out at the Duskbringer once more.

But its blades merely passed through the figure in front of it as if it were smoke.

An illusion!

When had he managed to swap places?!

In that moment of clarity, the General understood the true intent of the assault.

The explosion wasn't designed to kill it!

It was a distraction to blind its senses!

The massive release of energy had warped spacetime, making it nearly impossible to sense anything accurately.

The General finally detected a microscopic speck that had slipped into its body through the gaping wound on its back.

But the realization came too late.

The tiny particle tore through the General's internal organs, reaching its neural cortex in a heartbeat.

BANG!

The speck expanded violently, reverting into the full-sized Duskbringer.

While biological entities couldn't turn into gas, they could certainly be compressed or expanded.

By switching places with an illusion and infiltrating the General's body, the Duskbringer had annihilated it from within.

The General’s head burst apart, and to ensure no regeneration was possible, the Duskbringer systematically butchered the remains.

Within seconds, the corpse was reduced to a fine dust, which the Duskbringer then vaporized with a final surge of energy.

It was over.

The final member of the Amorphous Race within this solar system had been purged.

They had succeeded!

Humanity was finally free!
