Kill the Sun Chapter 984 - Generals' Power

Previously on Kill the Sun...
The Nightmen, witnessing Earth's surface for the first time, are engulfed in chaos as Daniel destroys the Sun, releasing a torrent of Star Energy that devastates unprepared humans. With night and day abruptly restored, terror grips those above, while the Extractors succumb to the overwhelming energies. As the two powerful Generals approach, Daniel's bold attack brings down one of their number, but the tide quickly turns when the Generals retaliate with a massive green beam, obliterating much of Europe. Now, amidst a shattered world, the impending confrontation escalates into a full-scale battle.

The ultimate confrontation had finally commenced.

Daniel stood alongside ten other Nightmen of the Tenth Realm and a force of 350 Nightmen from the Ninth Realm. Together, they were locked in a life-or-death struggle against the two Generals.

A ten-millennium span of history on Earth had never seen such an incredible gathering of power. Even the least powerful Nightman present possessed enough strength to match Nick in a fair fight.

Despite this, the outcome of the clash remained uncertain. Seeing the difficulty this elite force faced against the Generals, it became clear that the Empire had likely been wiped out without offering any real resistance.

The two Generals adopted a specific combat formation: the massive one took the vanguard, while the slender, elongated one positioned itself behind its comrade's back. As soon as the smaller General moved behind the larger one, it disappeared from sight.

To an untrained eye, it appeared only the massive General remained, but the combatants knew better than to be deceived.

Daniel channeled dark energy into his blade and delivered a powerful slash. A terrifying wave of force surged toward the large General. However, Daniel’s expression tightened when he observed the General maneuvering its weapons in a bizarre pattern.

The dark energy projectile was sliced into fragments, harmlessly diverting around the creature. It was as if the black energy was a rushing river and the massive General was an immovable boulder standing in the center of the current.

Daniel did not fight alone, however. The other Tenth Realm Nightmen closed in, unleashing a coordinated barrage of strikes. They bombarded the enemy with energy blasts, physical blows, raw force, mental assaults, and gravity manipulation.

The General’s armaments moved with lethal precision and frightening speed. Energy attacks merely washed over its form. Physical strikes collided with its thick carapace and were deflected. While the force-based attacks managed to push the giant back, its internal structure was so remarkably resilient that it suffered no damage.

The psychic assaults were completely ineffective. The General had entered a state of mental fortification that prevented any new information from being processed. Because it could no longer learn or perceive new stimuli, its mind could not be manipulated or altered in any way.

The gravity-based techniques were the only ones that yielded results, pinning the massive General in place and restricting its movements. With its mobility hindered, the General struggled to parry the incoming energy with its weapons, and the subsequent blasts began to take their toll.

The burly General’s chitinous armor began to heat up intensely. Soon, the carapace was glowing with such ferocity that it eclipsed the brightness of the sun.

Meanwhile, the Ninth Realm Nightmen converged to pool their collective strength. They forged a massive sphere of turbulent, chaotic energy and launched it directly at the heavy General. individually, these Nightmen were outclassed, but their unified strike possessed a destructive potential far exceeding that of the primary warriors.

Suddenly, a whirlwind of chitinous blades manifested near them. At the heart of this lethal storm stood the slender General. It lunged forward with a speed that defied belief—it was the fastest movement any of the Nightmen had ever witnessed.

BANG!

The thin General reappeared behind the Ninth Realm Nightmen. Or rather, it stood behind what remained of them: a mess of bloody remains. In a single heartbeat, all 350 Ninth Realm Nightmen had been slaughtered.

The eleven surviving Nightmen felt a wave of pure dread wash over them as they realized what had happened. This level of speed was nonsensical, matching the absurd durability of the larger General.

"Regroup!" Daniel commanded via mental transmission. The Nightmen pulled together immediately. If the slender General caught one of them alone, death was certain; their only hope lay in mutual defense. They reasoned that the thin General’s defense couldn't possibly match its speed. If they could just land a hit, they might kill it.

The thin General vanished once more while the Nightmen advanced toward the massive General in a tight, defensive pack. They swarmed the giant like flies descending upon a carcass.

The specialist in Gravity Techniques focused on slowing the General down, while Daniel dedicated himself to protecting the specialist. His gravity control was the lynchpin of their strategy, and Daniel had to ensure his survival at all costs.

As the massive General continued to endure the assault, its armor grew increasingly radiant.

CRK!

A spear finally pierced through the glowing shell. For the first time, the Nightmen saw the General’s thick, violet blood. The intense heat had finally made the chitin brittle and unstable. They had finally drawn blood!

"Keep attacking!" Daniel urged, his eyes darting around to track the hidden, slender General. The Nightmen redoubled their efforts with desperate hope.

CRACK!

A heavy staff shattered a piece of the incandescent armor, exposing the dense musculature underneath. They were making progress. But then, the large General extended its hand even as the blows continued to rain down. In an instant, the glow vanished from its body as all that energy concentrated into its palm. Then, it thrust its hand forward.

BOOOOOOM!

An immense torrent of plasma erupted, vaporizing three Nightmen instantly. The beam of plasma continued past them, streaking through the void until it struck Earth at a sharp angle.

BOOOOM!

The surviving Nightmen watched in horror as the attack impacted their home world. The strike carved a colossal canyon across the planet, slicing through the entire continent of Asia. The trench was over 1,000 kilometers deep and nearly 10,000 kilometers long. Earth was no longer a sphere; it now resembled a misshapen crescent moon.

The planet's structural integrity was shattered. Firestorms swept across the surface while massive tectonic plates collapsed and drifted as gravity desperately tried to pull the world back into a globe.

SHING!

In that moment of distraction, the thin General reaped the head of the Nightman wielding the Gravity Techniques. What began as a force of 361 Nightmen had been reduced to a mere seven.

Daniel stared at the two Generals, his heart sinking with terror. The situation was catastrophic. And then, without warning, everything erupted into a blinding explosion.
