Invincible Little School Doctor Chapter 2017: 2017: What the Hell Is This Monster?
Previously on Invincible Little School Doctor...
Ten miles south of South City, by a colossal Crimson Blood Tree and a massive rock, was the place Le Yao said the treasure could be found, its entrance hidden beneath the stone.
The Crimson Blood Tree, a rarity in the Immortal Realm, demanded at least seven people to encircle its girth, making Ye Haochuan confident in its easy discovery.
Yet, his confidence proved misplaced. He scoured the area south of the city multiple times, but the Crimson Blood Tree remained elusive.
“Blast it, could that girl have truly played me for a fool?” Ye Haochuan muttered under his breath.
Le Yao’s word wasn’t always gospel; the promised reward she’d mentioned before had been nothing but a fabrication to lure him.
Still, the exact tone and expression she'd used when speaking of this treasure lingered in his mind, making him doubt she was lying this time.
“Perhaps I’ve misinterpreted the direction? Could it not be due south?” Unwilling to concede defeat, Ye Haochuan broadened his search perimeter.
Before long, he found himself at the verge of an immense forest.
The woods stretched deep and wide, its depths hidden even from his powerful Heavenly Eye, which could only discern its immediate edge.
“Could it be hidden within?” A new idea sparked in Ye Haochuan’s mind.
Indeed, if it was a truly significant treasure, it would surely have some form of protection. This vast forest served as a natural fortress, an ideal place to conceal such a prize.
This thought reignited the fading hope within Ye Haochuan.
He took a calming breath and ventured into the forest’s depths.
However, he recalled Le Yao’s prior warning about the forest’s inherent dangers. Though he moved with haste, extreme caution was paramount. His Heavenly Eye remained active, and his senses were on high alert.
“Roar~”
A thunderous roar erupted nearby. The sheer sound conveyed the formidable nature of the beast.
“Damn, did my Perspective Eyes fail me, allowing a demonic beast to approach so closely?”
Startled, Ye Haochuan whipped his head around to investigate.
Upon seeing the demonic beast, he instantly understood his oversight. The creature had erupted from the earth, its body still half-submerged.
It was a monstrous entity, possessing a single horn, a triangular head, and small wings affixed near its ears. It bore a serpentine resemblance, yet was covered in legs as it burst forth from the earth.
The monster shot past Ye Haochuan with the speed of a speeding train, its form grazing him. Sensing Ye Haochuan’s successful evasion, it wheeled around.
Its eyes, a dark grey webbed with crimson, locked onto Ye Haochuan. Dozens of legs on its flanks tapped restlessly against the ground.
The rhythmic movement of its many legs created an appearance of surging waves, but Ye Haochuan understood the creature was merely seeking the opportune moment for a swift assault.
“What in the world is this creature?”
Ye Haochuan stared, dumbfounded, at the monster’s pointed, triangular head and its sharp, gleaming horn. The beast was likely in the early stages of Immortal Transformation, having converted perhaps merely ten percent of its Flower Energy, judging by its appearance.
Nonetheless, Ye Haochuan suspected that the impact of the monster’s horn charge would be far from insignificant.
Furthermore, its angular head was designed to minimize air resistance, enabling its cranial horn to pierce through opponents with terrifying velocity.
The tiny wings near its ears, surrounded by miniature whirlwinds, would undoubtedly augment the already formidable speed of this already incredibly swift creature.
“Begone, or I shall not hesitate to end you!”
Uncertain of the creature’s unique abilities, Ye Haochuan opted for an initial verbal warning.
He brandished the Halberd of Heaven and Earth, channeling the Xuanwu Force Vein and the Communicating with God Treasure Order, elevating his combat prowess to its zenith and projecting a fearsome aura.
“Roar~”
The creature, far from retreating at Ye Haochuan’s display, seemed instead provoked. It let out another roar and charged directly at him.
“Damn it, it appears a fight is unavoidable!”
Ye Haochuan ceased further pronouncements and made an immediate, swift swing with the Halberd of Heaven and Earth.
As the old saying goes, “strike a snake at its seven-inch mark.” Despite its bizarre appearance, the monster’s serpentine form suggested this tactic might prove effective.
Clang~
As the creature hurtled towards him, Ye Haochuan deftly sidestepped using the Great Yan Step. His Halberd of Heaven and Earth descended with brutal force upon the creature’s vulnerable seven-inch mark.
The sheer kinetic energy of the blow, combined with the razor-sharp edge of the halberd, carved a bloody gash, half a foot long, into the creature’s vital spot.
“Roar~”
Whether from agony or fury, the creature emitted a deafening roar towards the heavens, its head thrashing wildly as it beat the small wings near its ears at a frenetic pace.
In a stunning turn of events, the creature executed a swift 180-degree aerial maneuver, its trajectory now aimed directly back at Ye Haochuan with increased velocity.
"What in the world! That's impossible!"
Just as Ye Haochuan prepared to lunge and sever the creature's limbs with his halberd, he witnessed its astonishing mid-air pirouette, spinning on its head like an axis. His amazement was boundless.
Whoosh~
The tiny wings situated near the creature's ears began to flap with furious speed, propelling it toward Ye Haochuan even faster, for reasons unknown.
"No way..."
Unable to react in time, Ye Haochuan was struck by the creature. He screamed as he was flung backward, a gaping wound appearing in his chest, his mighty Halberd of Heaven and Earth also knocked from his grasp.
As Ye Haochuan was sent reeling, the creature surged forward once more, intercepting him before he could hit the ground and inflicting another severe gash, this time in his waist.
Ye Haochuan was then tossed through the air like a plaything. Meanwhile, crimson beams of light began to converge in the creature's eyes, preparing to strike directly at Ye Haochuan.
Hovering in mid-air, Ye Haochuan found himself utterly defenseless, he could only watch with dread as the scarlet beams hurtled relentlessly toward his head.
Damn it, damn it, damn it...
Seething with rage internally, Ye Haochuan quickly produced an object resembling a pill. He channeled his inner Spiritual Energy and Flower Energy into it.
Buzz~
A sudden burst of light materialized in the empty space, enveloping Ye Haochuan completely. In the blink of an eye, his form vanished from the sky.
The twin crimson beams blazed through the void where he had been, but they could not touch a single hair on Ye Haochuan.
"Phew, thank goodness for the Escape Pill. I was in real danger there!"
Emerging atop a towering tree some two hundred meters away, Ye Haochuan breathed a sigh of relief, marveling at his narrow escape.
