Niu Kui easily blocks the village head's attack, revealing his incredible strength. Despite the village head's attempt to call for backup, he is swayed by his wife's accusations. More powerful cultivators arrive, including Yingzi's mother, who immediately attacks Niu Kui. Niu Kui seizes her whip, and another elder joins the fray.

Goodness, these two are utterly shameless now!

Ye Haochuan couldn’t help but let out a sigh.

This Old Woman is indeed very decisive. Once she realized the opponent’s strength, she didn’t prolong the fight and immediately initiated a group assault.

However, Ye Haochuan had no intention of stepping in just yet. He also intended to ascertain Niu Kui’s true capabilities.

The elder clad in black wielded a broadsword, intricately carved with a lifelike Great Golden Dragon, unmistakably not a Mortal Grade artifact. As the blade sliced through the air, it unleashed a fierce whistling sound.

Niu Kui did not dare to be complacent, raising Giant Que horizontally to meet the Golden Dragon Blade. The clash was instantaneous, blocking the attack.

The elder in black, clearly unable to withstand Niu Kui’s peculiar might, was forced back several steps before regaining his balance. His brow furrowed as he stared at Niu Kui, disbelief etched on his face. Like the Old Woman before him, he was clearly astonished by Niu Kui’s formidable combat prowess.

Subsequently, after a brief exchange of glances with the Old Woman, the two of them abruptly launched a coordinated assault on Niu Kui.

It was evident that these two often fought together, their synergy exceptionally smooth and practiced. Frequently, before the blade could even land, the whip would lash out, ensnaring the opponent, while the blade delivered a relentless offensive—a truly formidable combination.

Niu Kui, it seemed, had never encountered adversaries with such seamless cooperation before, and he was momentarily caught off guard.

Yet, some individuals are perhaps born warriors; after a fleeting moment of alarm, he swiftly adapted, reasserting his control over the ebb and flow of the battle.

Fighting two against one, and still unable to secure victory, left the elder in black and the Old Woman feeling a significant loss of face. However, at this juncture, if they failed to defeat Niu Kui, utter humiliation would be their fate.

“Old Wang!” the Old Woman suddenly called out softly.

More than losing, she clearly preferred capturing Niu Kui at any cost. Even if it meant resorting to brute force with numbers, it was still a better outcome than outright defeat.

Upon hearing the Old Woman’s summons, the last elder hesitated not at all and decisively plunged into the fray.

The situation transformed from a two-on-one confrontation to a three-on-one, instantaneously amplifying the pressure on Niu Kui and causing vulnerabilities to appear from all sides.

What a disgrace, these three fellows possess absolutely no sense of elite demeanor!

Ye Haochuan cursed inwardly and finally resolved to cease his spectator role. Gripping the Halberd of Heaven and Earth, he charged directly towards Old Wang.

“You are overestimating your own abilities!” Old Wang clearly held Ye Haochuan in low regard. While Niu Kui’s strength had surprised them, he simply did not believe that Ye Haochuan, a mere ant at the Nascent Soul Peak, could possibly cause any significant trouble.

Underestimating me, is it? I shall demonstrate my true capabilities!

Ye Haochuan smirked faintly, augmenting the power channeled into his hand by several notches.

Bang~

Old Wang’s metallic staff was forcefully deformed, developing a concave shape from the impact of the Halberd of Heaven and Earth. And Old Wang himself, after enduring such a potent strike, was violently hurled backward, spitting up a mouthful of blood.

“How… how can he possess such monstrous strength?” Everyone who witnessed the exchange was utterly dumbfounded.

Up until this point, they had all dismissed Ye Haochuan, but unexpectedly, his combat prowess did not lag behind Niu Kui’s in the slightest.

Old Wang felt the shock most acutely among them all. While he admitted his own fault in underestimating his opponent, he now understood with certainty that even by exerting his utmost effort, he still stood no chance against Ye Haochuan.

Clap~

Witnessing the turn of events, the Old Woman and the elder in black utilized Niu Kui’s recoil from his maneuver to swiftly disengage and withdraw from the ongoing conflict.

“Who exactly are you two? Concealing your strength so effectively that even we could not perceive it?” The Old Woman inquired, her brow furrowed as she cautiously scrutinized Ye Haochuan and Niu Kui.

Her words, while seemingly a concession, subtly offered a path for withdrawal.

She implied that it wasn't due to their lack of skill, but rather that Ye Haochuan and Niu Kui had deliberately hidden their true cultivation, making them appear invincible.

Perhaps in their own minds, this was the only way to salvage their pride. If they were to admit they were truly defeated by two individuals with lower cultivation, they would feel an overwhelming urge to smash their heads against a wall.

Ye Haochuan had no desire to prolong this interaction and dismissively stated, “We are merely two ordinary travelers passing through, simply wishing for your assistance to cross the river. Naturally, not a single red crystal for passage will be omitted!”

The Old Woman’s brow furrowed in thought, then she glanced at Yingzi, as if a realization dawned upon her.

“Since it appears to be a misunderstanding, there is no need for further entanglement. Liu Yu, you shall escort them across!” The Old Woman ultimately opted to concede the situation.

This Old Woman was undoubtedly a pragmatist who understood the reality of the situation, choosing not to act on impulse. Just as earlier, when confronting Niu Kui, upon recognizing his combat prowess, she had promptly brought the elder in black into the fight, followed by Old Wang. She had cast aside any pretense of dignity, employing the most effective strategy to subdue her opponents. Such adversaries are invariably the most formidable.

Aware now that the four Immortal Transformation Experts beside her were no match for Ye Haochuan and Niu Kui, she decided to withdraw to avoid further losses among her own people.

The one addressed as Liu Yu was apparently the village chief.

He followed the Old Woman’s instructions, a fleeting disappointment crossing his features before he concealed it and dutifully agreed.

This subtle disappointment, however, did not escape the notice of Ye Haochuan, who had been observing Liu Yu closely.

Earlier, when Ye Haochuan had taken down Old Wang, Liu Yu’s eyes had shown a spark of hope, as if expecting Ye Haochuan and Niu Kui to defeat the three elders.

Ye Haochuan felt a measure of understanding—Liu Yu likely believed the presence of these elders emboldened Yingzi’s arrogance, and their defeat would free him from her oppression, allowing him to vent his frustrations openly.

Despite feeling some pity for Liu Yu, Ye Haochuan was unwilling to undertake thankless tasks solely out of compassion.

“Absolutely not, these two are utterly wicked and must not be allowed to leave here alive!” Yingzi finally seemed to react, exclaiming with urgency.

“Don’t be ridiculous!” the Old Woman scolded sternly.

“I don’t care, these two have insulted me, I want them dead!” Yingzi shrieked, her voice piercing. “You three old fools always brag about your strength, yet you can’t even handle two youngsters today?”

It was evident that Yingzi was accustomed to having her way and could not tolerate defiance, not even from her own parents.

“Yingzi, be a good girl, let them go for now, and we can discuss everything later!” The Old Woman’s tone softened upon seeing Yingzi’s outburst.

It was clear she adored her daughter immensely, and perhaps this excessive indulgence had shaped Yingzi’s current disposition.

“No way! If you let these two escape today, I will end my life right here in front of you!” Yingzi declared resolutely.

With that, she actually drew a knife, pressing the blade against her own neck, appearing genuinely prepared to commit suicide.

“No…” The Old Woman grew visibly alarmed and quickly moved to stop her.

Observing the Old Woman’s reaction, Yingzi’s eyes flashed with a triumphant smirk, her demeanor becoming even more imperious.

With a resigned sigh, the Old Woman once again gripped the steel whip in her hand, preparing to take action.

Damn it, why do I always encounter such troublesome people? Am I cursed today?

Ye Haochuan muttered a curse inwardly.
