"Brother Ye, we have two paths ahead. Which way should we go?" Niu Kui inquired, gesturing towards the fork in the road.

Two days of travel had brought them close to five hundred miles, with the border of Mushan County now within sight.

Ye Haochuan consulted a map, noting that both routes led to Anxi County. One path appeared more level but would extend their journey by several days. The other, significantly shorter, promised a more arduous trek through mountains and rugged terrain.

After a brief contemplation, Ye Haochuan indicated the steeper path. "Let's take this one. The sooner we arrive, the fewer unforeseen circumstances we'll encounter."

He was determined to avoid a repeat of the situation in Mushan City, where he had missed Long Keyue because she had reached her destination before him.

Niu Kui gave a simple acknowledgment and took the lead.

Ye Haochuan spurred his Red Flame Horse to swiftly catch up.

This Red Flame Horse had been acquired in the previous town. In the Immortal Realm, traversing long distances on foot could be exceedingly draining, so acquiring a mode of transport seemed prudent to conserve vital energy.

A sudden cry pierced the air from the nearby forest, accompanied by ragged gasps.

Upon hearing the voice, Niu Kui's demeanor shifted instantly. "In broad daylight, they dare to act so outrageously, showing utter disregard for the law..." he declared with a stern tone.

With that, he charged directly towards the source of the cries.

"Wait..." Ye Haochuan attempted to hold him back, but it was too late. Niu Kui had already vanished into the woods, followed by two pained screams.

Ye Haochuan lightly massaged his forehead, feeling a mixture of amusement and exasperation.

Niu Kui's intentions were always good, but his understanding of situations could be somewhat inflexible.

Not every cry for help was necessarily genuine...

"Don't come any closer..." A man's desperate plea jolted Ye Haochuan from his thoughts.

He realized he couldn't afford to remain idle. If Niu Kui was not intercepted, a significant problem could arise.

Parting the dense foliage, Ye Haochuan was taken aback by the scene that unfolded.

Niu Kui held a gaunt man aloft, preparing to slam him to the ground.

Nearby, a nude woman observed the spectacle with evident horror, seemingly forgetting her exposed state.

This woman was far from possessing striking beauty. If Long Keyue represented a perfect ten, this woman barely registered a three. Her skin was fair, her stature modest, and she carried excess weight around her midsection. Only her chest offered a somewhat notable feature.

"Stop!" Ye Haochuan quickly intervened.

Hearing Ye Haochuan's voice, Niu Kui finally ceased his action.

Niu Kui appeared perplexed. "This villain is worse than a beast and deserves to die. Brother Ye, why do you prevent me from killing him?"

Ye Haochuan emitted a wry chuckle. "How can you be certain this woman wasn't a willing participant?"

"She was begging for mercy, constantly! How could it be voluntary?" Niu Kui expressed his confusion.

"This... how can I explain it to you?" Ye Haochuan found the situation difficult to articulate and eventually addressed the woman directly. "Tell us, was this consensual?"

The woman seemed to snap out of her daze and nodded faintly. Her gaze, however, remained fixed on Niu Kui.

Niu Kui's bewilderment grew, his thick eyebrows furrowing into a shape resembling the Chinese character for 'river'.

Ye Haochuan quickly gestured for Niu Kui to release the skinny man, allowing him to be set down on the ground.

The slender man, already wracked with fear, could no longer remain standing and slumped to the ground.

From the man's prior statements, Ye Haochuan had already pieced together that these two individuals had convened for a clandestine rendezvous.

Ye Haochuan had initially surmised they were seeking a private encounter amidst nature's embrace. Instead, he had unexpectedly borne witness to an illicit tryst.

While Ye Haochuan did not condone such conduct, he was unfamiliar with either party involved and held no knowledge of the deceived husband. Consequently, he felt he lacked the standing to intercede in their private affairs.

Most critically, Ye Haochuan had long observed that the man's most vital part had drastically diminished due to the sudden shock from Niu Kui's appearance at a crucial juncture, leaving him with a lasting affliction. "Let's depart!" Ye Haochuan chuckled once more and proceeded to walk away alongside Niu Kui.

Just then, the disoriented woman suddenly cried out, "Don't leave, brother!"

Noticing her gaze remained fixed upon Niu Kui, it became evident that the term "brother" was directed towards him.

Niu Kui, not fully grasping the situation, inquired, "I am not your brother; I don't even know you!"

The woman offered a seductive smile and swayed her body as she approached. With each step, she deliberately accentuated her ample bosom and softly declared, "We may not have known each other before, but we do now. Henceforth, you shall be my dearest brother..."

Niu Kui still struggled to comprehend, but the slender man grew visibly irritated, retorting, "You shameless woman, any man will suffice for you, why don't you just go and perish?"

The woman responded with a coy hum, "Cease your pretense of displeasure; you thoroughly enjoyed yourself. I was the most sought-after maiden in the village, and were it not for your substantial endowment, would I have permitted you such liberties for so long?"

As she spoke, she turned her attention to Niu Kui, her voice dripping with charm, "Now that my dear brother is present, simply observe his physique; he is clearly far more imposing than you. When a superior option is available, why would I remain with you?"

"You..." The slender man was incensed, letting out a snort, "You lunatic, are you not worried you might actually rupture?"
