Bai Xiaosheng completed his review of documents with Mr. Fiewood, discreetly taking what he needed and rebuffing Fiewood's suspicions. Fiewood, angered and suspicious, planned to arrange an accident for Bai Xiaosheng's subordinates. Later, Bai Xiaosheng visited Petyang Company, obtained more documents, and agreed to a cafeteria lunch. The Petyang general manager notified Cilio, who was furious upon learning Bai Xiaosheng had secured internal documents. Cilio, suspecting a scheme against his father and himself, gathered a group of fierce individuals and headed towards Bai Xiaosheng.

Bai Xiaosheng, accompanied by Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying, concluded a business lunch at Petyang Company, a subsidiary of Cilio, and enjoyed a brief one-hour rest.

Casually addressing the accompanying general manager, Bai Xiaosheng then requested, "Kindly arrange a car for us; we need to head to the airport."

Considering Bai Xiaosheng's standing, the general manager did not dare to dally, promptly replying with a smile, "I will prepare it immediately, please wait a moment!"

"Is arranging a car truly that complex?" Bai Xiaosheng queried with a half-smile.

"Since it is for you, we must select the most capable driver for the task," the general manager quickly responded, smiling before making a hasty retreat.

After their departure, Bai Xiaosheng and the others exchanged knowing glances. Checking the time, they each retrieved their phones to send messages.

A full fifteen minutes elapsed before the general manager reappeared.

Upon his return, he repeatedly apologized to Bai Xiaosheng, "Mr. Bai, I apologize for the delay. I have personally arranged for a seasoned driver to transport you. Everything is in readiness. Would you prefer to rest a little longer?"

This individual exhibited extraordinary enthusiasm, showing no hint of unease despite Bai Xiaosheng having previously scrutinized internal company documents. He appeared entirely composed.

"There is no need. Since you have made all the arrangements and we are prepared, it is time for us to depart!"

Bai Xiaosheng stated, offering a profound smile to the general manager.

The general manager's smile faltered slightly but quickly recovered as he cheerfully remarked, "Then I shall not detain you further, Mr. Bai!"

"There is no need to see us off," Bai Xiaosheng replied.

Despite his words, the general manager still escorted Bai Xiaosheng and his party downstairs, observing as they entered the car and drove away.

Once the vehicle was out of sight, the genial expression on the general manager's face dissolved, leaving only a subtle glint in his eyes.

It conveyed a hint of seriousness, coupled with a touch of cold calculation.

Inside the car, Bai Xiaosheng and his companions maintained a quiet demeanor.

The driver, an overly talkative sort, attempted to strike up a conversation with the trio multiple times. However, Bai Xiaosheng and Lin Weiwei displayed no interest, while Lei Ying, occupying the passenger seat, remained as frigid as ice, rendering any attempt at discourse futile.

Eventually, the driver abandoned his efforts.

The car navigated through the city, but after an hour, it became ensnared in a traffic jam.

The general infrastructure development in Lekram was merely adequate, evidenced by the persistently sluggish traffic conditions within the city.

"This route leads directly to the airport, but it's frequently congested, sometimes for one to two hours," the driver explained.

Observing the pedestrians drifting past the car window, Bai Xiaosheng inquired with a subtle smile, "Is there no alternative route?"

Noticing Bai Xiaosheng's active engagement, the driver pondered for a moment before replying, "There is, but it passes through a slum area, which isn't particularly safe. Are you certain you wish to take that path?"

"If we arrive too late, we will undoubtedly miss our flight. If you deem it acceptable, let us proceed via that route," Bai Xiaosheng decided.

The driver turned his head to face Bai Xiaosheng, stating, "The decision to take this route is yours. Should any mishap occur..."

"I will assume full responsibility," Bai Xiaosheng calmly assured him.

"Very well!" The driver then gave the steering wheel a turn, guiding the car off the main street and into a narrow alleyway barely wide enough for a single vehicle.

Regardless of the circumstances, the driver's skill behind the wheel was undeniable.

In under thirty minutes, Bai Xiaosheng and his companions found their car entering the slum district the driver had mentioned.

Ramshackle dwellings fashioned from tin sheets of varying heights surrounded them. Several emaciated children darted around the car, their skin a mix of dark and light tones, peering curiously through the windows.

Along the thoroughfares, positioned at the entrances of these makeshift homes, men with impassive expressions watched their passage.

The driver couldn't suppress his mounting anxiety, cautioning Bai Xiaosheng and the others, "Esteemed guests, please refrain from opening the windows or creating any loud noises. We must proceed through here quietly... Truth be told, we should not have opted for this route... It was entirely your insistence, sir!"

At this juncture, the driver was actively attempting to shift the culpability onto Bai Xiaosheng.

Bai Xiaosheng offered no response. Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying remained equally silent.

Their vehicle crept slowly through the oppressive environment for ten minutes, finally emerging into a comparatively wider alleyway.

Just as the driver exhaled a breath of relief, a vehicle abruptly entered the path ahead—a seven-seater MPV—effectively blocking their way.

"What is happening?" The driver of Bai Xiaosheng's car frowned and sounded his horn multiple times.

The honking, however, seemed to act as a trigger rather than a deterrent. The opposing MPV disgorged its passengers, a collection of dark-skinned men adorned in gaudy attire, their faces obscured by cloth. Awaiting them at the forefront were individuals wielding machetes, and bringing up the rear, two men brandished rusted AK rifles concealed within grimy rags. "Good heavens, it’s actual robbers!" the driver exclaimed, his face draining of color. He slammed on the brakes, his body collapsing over the steering wheel. "Everyone, whatever they ask for, just give it to them! These guys are dangerous!" To the driver's astonishment, his frantic warning seemed to have no effect on Bai Xiaosheng and his companions, who remained unnervingly composed. Bai Xiaosheng, in particular, showed no outward signs of alarm. "Firearms... I hadn't anticipated them having firearms," Lei Ying murmured, his brow furrowed as he observed the unfolding scene. The two individuals armed with rifles were positioned at the rear of the group, making them difficult to neutralize swiftly. The immense power and high penetration of their weapons introduced a significant uncertainty. The possibility of stray bullets accidentally harming Bai Xiaosheng or Lin Weiwei presented a catastrophic risk. Consequently, even Lei Ying found his confidence wavering.
