Lin Weiwei meets with Matilda, who is still employed at Yorko Company due to concerns about leaks. Matilda nervously attempts to give Lin Weiwei a USB drive containing sensitive information, but Lin Weiwei initially refuses, emphasizing the potential risks to Matilda. After a protracted back-and-forth, Lin Weiwei points out the information is no longer needed due to alternative sources. Matilda then produces a paper document, also related to company dealings, which she offers instead.

It would be dishonest to claim the information was entirely useless to Lin Weiwei.

Lin Weiwei took the paper documents, her gaze sweeping over each one methodically.

As she read, she began to sip her coffee. By the time the cup was empty, her perusal of the documents was nearly complete.

Matilda intently observed Lin Weiwei’s expressions for any flicker of reaction.

However, Lin Weiwei remained seemingly impassive.

"Could it be they've already looked into these matters? That seems unlikely. If there were so many critical points, wouldn't they have acted already rather than letting those problematic companies continue to operate and confront Cilio again?" Matilda mused, a knot of confusion forming.

Fiewood had stated that Bai Xiaosheng was a person of principle who showed no favoritism. Would he truly overlook such findings?

If Lin Weiwei was unaware, then why the absence of surprise or emotion?

Matilda was thoroughly perplexed.

Lin Weiwei concluded her review, returning the documents to Matilda with a gentle smile. "There are some valuable insights here."

Hearing this, Matilda felt a wave of relief wash over her.

"But much of it is of no use to us," Lin Weiwei added. "So, I’ve noted the pertinent parts, and that suffices. You may take these back."

Matilda blinked in surprise at this statement.

Was it all dismissed so casually?

No photographs were taken as mementos...

"It’s truly not of much use to you, is it?" Matilda couldn't help but inquire.

Without a clearer explanation, a resolution seemed impossible.

A sense of resentment toward Fiewood began to surface within Matilda.

He had painstakingly compiled these documents, yet they seemed too cautiously prepared, obscuring their true meaning from this woman's understanding?

Should she offer a hint? How could she do so without revealing too much?

What a colossal waste of effort!

Matilda felt genuine frustration building.

Failure to complete the task assigned from above would surely displease Fiewood, and she would bear the blame!

What a predicament! Emotionally and physically drained, only to be made a scapegoat...

Matilda felt suffocated.

"One could say it's not of much use," Lin Weiwei replied softly, seeming hesitant to be too blunt, perhaps to spare Matilda’s feelings.

Matilda was left without words.

"Well, we have met and covered most of what we needed to discuss. It is time for me to depart," Lin Weiwei said with a light laugh. "Miss Matilda, our agreement still stands. While we are in Lekram, if you decide to resign, please do contact us. If we have already left, finding assistance might prove difficult. By the way, we are departing in just a few days, so you should act quickly."

With these words, Lin Weiwei seemed more focused on reminding Matilda about her resignation than emphasizing how difficult it would be to revive the subsided investigation without high-value intelligence.

A sense of urgency prompted Matilda to smile quickly. "Alright, Lin, I will expedite the process and reach out when the time comes."

Lin Weiwei offered a smile in return, stood up, slung her bag over her shoulder, and bid a polite farewell. "Then I must be going. See you."

Throughout the entire encounter, Lin Weiwei did not glance at the documents left on the table again.

Matilda quickly rose, offering a smile and a nod as she watched Lin Weiwei depart.

Once Lin Weiwei was gone, Matilda sank back into her chair, her gaze fixed on the documents before her. "Could the information I acquired this time truly be so worthless? Blast it, or has that woman already memorized the contents and plans to restart the investigation later...?"

Perhaps it was best to wait and observe.

If this approach failed, she would still need to provide further clues to Bai Xiaosheng.

"This is truly troublesome for me. How will I explain the origin of new insights when we meet next time? Consistently providing such information to outsiders, even with my excellent acting, might cause my character to falter slightly," Matilda pondered inwardly.

At that moment, Lin Weiwei strode purposefully down the street, her hair flowing, subtly revealing her earlobe and an almost invisible Bluetooth earpiece.

The brooch fastened to her chest was, in fact, a camera.

These were specialized devices, borrowed from the personnel in the headquarters' surveillance department.

Every detail from the documents Lin Weiwei had handled was meticulously recorded.

"A fruitful harvest?" Lin Weiwei murmured to herself, though she was actually conversing with someone.

Lei Ying's voice then came through her earpiece. "Sheng believes that continuing the investigation is sufficient to hold Cilio accountable and force his immediate resignation!"

Lin Weiwei let out an immediate laugh.

"However, Sheng mentioned he is more interested in uncovering the mastermind's identity and is eager to see what further offerings Fiewood's group might produce! Therefore, we are holding our position!"
