Inheritance of Two Trillion Chapter 2423 - 1808: Scheming
Previously on Inheritance of Two Trillion...
While Dick was taking a respite in a waiting area, Vincent was on his way to find Bai Xiaosheng, his mind re-evaluating his calculations. He recognized that avoiding offense while still achieving profit was impossible; a sacrifice was inevitable. Vincent, who understood the principle of not being overly greedy, pondered which would yield greater long-term benefits: Bai Xiaosheng’s potential cooperation or Tike’s current standing.
After careful consideration and comparison, Vincent determined that aligning with Bai Xiaosheng was the most strategically advantageous move.
"However, this means I will completely alienate Mr. Tike!"
Vincent voiced this concern to himself but quickly dismissed it as a minor issue.
The existing collaboration between the Winsmo Group and Zhenbei Group’s African operations was of moderate significance. A cessation of this business would not represent a catastrophic loss.
Furthermore, despite the opponent's considerable power, the Winsmo Group held a dominant position within Xisuli, facing no significant rivals.
Vincent harbored this strong conviction.
"If I reject Tike and opt for Bai Xiaosheng, I'll completely offend Tike... Why not offend him further and gain more favor with Bai Xiaosheng! Even if I betray Tike, what of it? Our relationship has always been purely business, so there’s no ethical breach involved!"
With this decisive thought, Vincent hurried along, murmuring to himself.
He recalled Tike mentioning his existing conflict with Bai Xiaosheng and his intention to disrupt Bai’s operations.
Delivering this information to Bai Xiaosheng would undoubtedly secure his gratitude and redirect his animosity squarely towards Tike.
This would likely lead to a confrontation between them, leaving Tike too preoccupied to focus his resentment on Vincent.
Vincent believed his plan was flawlessly calculated.
"What was it Mr. Tike just mentioned...? He intends to conduct private transactions with several companies for mutual benefit? If this crucial information were shared with his rival within the group, Mr. Bai Xiaosheng, Tike might lose any opportunity for future retribution against me."
A sly smile crept onto Vincent’s lips as he marveled at Mr. Tike’s careless candor, revealing such sensitive matters to an outsider.
He found it astonishing that someone like Tike could hold the position of Executive Director at Zhenbei Group’s Africa Division.
"Only within the confines of a massive corporation can one wield power with such diminished vigilance. If he were to launch his own venture, he'd be utterly consumed, vanishing without even comprehending his downfall."
Vincent couldn't help but cast a backward glance towards the reception room where Tike was, a disdaining chuckle escaping him.
Vincent possessed exceptional business acumen and foresight, yet he seemed to falter when it came to interpersonal machinations and subtle intrigues. This deficiency was understandable, given his tenure as chairman of the Winsmo Group, a position at the apex of the corporate world, with no one challenging his authority.
Even external business partners, eager to foster long-term collaborations, approached him with unreserved sincerity.
Consequently, Vincent failed to recognize that he was the one oversimplifying the situation.
This act of strategically betraying one party to curry favor with another was a novel experience for Vincent in nearly a decade. Compounded by the seemingly straightforward nature of the circumstances, he neglected to delve deeper into the potential complexities.
Having meticulously considered all angles, Vincent arrived at the reception area where Bai Xiaosheng and his associates were relaxing. He rapped twice lightly on the door before entering.
Bai Xiaosheng and his two companions were engaged in light conversation with two of the Winsmo Group’s deputy directors. Noticing the sound, they all looked up.
Upon seeing Vincent’s return, everyone stood up.
"Mr. Vincent, you’ve returned so quickly," Bai Xiaosheng greeted with a smile. "We are in no hurry and could have waited longer. I hope we didn't interrupt your important meeting."
Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying, having been informed by Bai Xiaosheng that their recent visitor was Mr. Tike, the Executive Director of their group’s Africa Division, turned their attention to Vincent.
"Merely an acquaintance from the business circuit, not someone I’d consider a friend," Vincent replied with a chuckle to Bai Xiaosheng. "After all, you are my most valued acquaintance here."
Vincent deliberately downplayed his connection with Tike to prevent Bai Xiaosheng from perceiving him as someone readily willing to sacrifice relationships for personal gain.
Furthermore, his association with Tike was, in essence, just a business acquaintance, which was factually accurate.
Bai Xiaosheng, hearing Vincent’s elevated sentiment, responded with a smile, "I am deeply honored by your regard, Mr. Vincent. Such favor is a true privilege."
After exchanging a few pleasantries, Vincent, in the presence of Bai Xiaosheng and his party, instructed his two deputies to begin organizing the upcoming project proposals for review and to make preparations for the luncheon.
The two deputies readily accepted the task and departed to carry out his instructions.
Vincent then cast a glance towards Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying before turning to Bai Xiaosheng with a smile. "Mr. Bai, there are a few matters I wish to discuss with you privately."
"Certainly."
Ever accommodating, Bai Xiaosheng responded with a smile.
Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying made a swift departure from the reception room, choosing to await their turn in the hallway.
Once the door shut behind them, Lin Weiwei found herself unable to resist a backward glance. She leaned closer to Lei Ying and murmured, "What do you suppose Mr. Vincent intends to discuss? Could it possibly concern... Mr. Tike?"
"It's a possibility," Lei Ying responded, his gaze sweeping over the throng of busy Winsmo Group employees navigating the corridor. He subtly motioned for Lin Weiwei to keep her voice down.
The bustling surroundings were hardly conducive to a deep conversation. Whatever matters were being deliberated within that room would eventually come to light, rendering their current speculation unnecessary.
