Inheritance of Two Trillion Chapter 2401 - 1798: Breaking Through Psychological Defenses (Part 3)
Previously on Inheritance of Two Trillion...
Old John and Jenny instantly recognized the item before them as one of their lost possessions, specifically linked to their collaboration with the company 'Green Sky'.
Their pupils constricted immediately, and their breathing grew unintentionally rapid. Such a crucial item, yet it was unsecured and unsealed, only to be revealed in the very first instance! This was simply astonishing.
This formidable individual did not adhere to conventional tactics; while others might start with minor points and save the significant ones for later, this scoundrel commenced with a 'King Bomb'! The pair was caught completely off guard, their hearts thrown into utter disarray.
Lei Ying continued, his tone laced with bewilderment, "Strange, isn't it? Why just one contract? Let me inform you, right now, numerous other teams have already descended upon all the other associated companies, catching them completely unprepared. They are even less ready than you are. The individuals we dispatched are experts in psychological warfare. Believe it or not, before this conversation concludes, someone will confess. You are aware of the corporation's generous policies; if, by the end of our discussion, you remain silent, well, the corporation will assign its finest legal counsel to prosecute you with the most severe charges! Do not fault me for not issuing this warning now!"
These pronouncements caused Old John and Jenny, whose minds were already in a tumultuous state, to display notable distress.
"Frankly, I couldn't care less whether you speak or not; it's not my concern. I'll depart once my inquiries are complete," Lei Ying even muttered.
"This contract... I know nothing about it!" Jenny declared stubbornly through gritted teeth before Old John could utter a word. This caused Old John to involuntarily glance at Jenny. She had been the most visibly frightened moments before; how could a woman be so immeasurably fickle!
Lei Ying regarded her with a cold gaze, "This is futile." Jenny remained resolute, sealing her lips and refusing to speak further. The situation had escalated to its most perilous point; she had to persevere and grit her teeth, hoping that Miss Caroline would then come to her aid. If she opened her mouth now, all would be lost.
Lei Ying's eyes fixed on Jenny for a couple of seconds, a flicker of admiration in his expression, before he gestured to the associate beside him. That individual promptly rose and entered the inner room. Despite Jenny's determined clenching of her teeth, she couldn't help but cast a glance inside, uncertain of the associate's objective.
Old John lowered his head slightly, his eyes darting with thought. At one moment, Old John contemplated diverting the issue, aiming to focus Lei Ying's attention more intensely on Jenny rather than himself. The next moment, his thoughts turned to those other companies, perhaps eight or nine of them; if even one of them confessed, what predicament would he find himself in here? A subtle sheen appeared on Old John's forehead, yet he also steeled his resolve. As long as the opposing party lacked concrete proof against him, and that contract was merely something Jenny had brought along—his bag was in his hand, the contract therein, and the individuals present were not law enforcement, thus possessing no right to search it—he might still prevail.
Just as these thoughts occupied him, the individual who had entered the room reappeared, holding an object. "A small recording device. Your recent conversation with Mr. John inside has been entirely recorded," Lei Ying stated, addressing Jenny.
Upon hearing this, Jenny froze as if struck by lightning. Old John couldn't help but tremble. Was there genuinely a camera concealed inside?!
"This constitutes illegal surveillance!" Jenny's psychological defenses began to crumble as she cried out. This formidable individual truly did not play by the established rules! Blow after blow, making it nearly impossible to breathe, leaving her feeling like a fish on the chopping block, prepared for slaughter. How could he be so sinister and cunning? What had he been involved in prior to this?!
Observing Jenny's encroaching loss of composure, Lei Ying immediately let out a sneer. The associate who had retrieved the equipment, while tidying up, calmly remarked to Jenny, "Illegal? Then I shall surrender myself tomorrow. I was the one who placed it there." This individual instantly accepted the blame.
Jenny was momentarily stunned into silence, utterly unsure of how to respond. She opened her mouth but found herself unable to utter a sound for a considerable time. With their statements, what else could she possibly say... A throbbing headache overcame Jenny, a dizzying and unprecedentedly uncomfortable sensation, as if her very neck were being constricted.
Lei Ying then shifted his gaze to Old John. "These, these contracts, they were brought by her. I've never seen them; I am innocent..." Old John vehemently disavowed any involvement, repeating his plea three times in quick succession.
Lei Ying offered a smile and politely stated, "Mr. John, a colleague of mine wishes to have a word with you." In his bewilderment, Old John watched as Lei Ying clapped his hands. From outside, another individual entered, smiled at Old John, and gestured with an object in their hand. "Mr. John, this is a copy of the contract from your bag. I went to considerable effort to obtain it." Old John paid no heed to the document itself; his emotions overflowing, he shouted at the newcomer, "Zack, you, you, how... you're, you're one of them!"
