Bai Xiaosheng confirms "Green Sky" company has issues, and identifies Jenny as a potential spy sent by Caroline from the North American region. Realizing the complexity and potential danger, Bai suggests caution, prompting Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying to propose staying behind to investigate while he continues with the diplomatic delegation. Bai is hesitant, concerned for their safety, and suggests they return for now as he considers how to arrange a longer stay.

"Or, perhaps I should directly contact Mr. Wen Yan and let him handle matters here?" Bai Xiaosheng proposed another resolution.

Still, these two options did not fully satisfy Bai Xiaosheng.

A brief silence descended upon the three of them.

Even the driver couldn't help but cast curious glances through the rearview mirror, wondering what had caused the sudden quiet after their earlier excitement and animated conversation.

The driver's curiosity was piqued, but lacking understanding of the Huaxia language, he couldn't grasp their discussion. The names they mentioned, pronounced in their distinctive way, sounded utterly foreign, leaving him bewildered about identities.

Bai Xiaosheng and his companions were back in the car before one o'clock, entering Banjiao City. Fortunately, unlike Dilu City, there was no traffic congestion, allowing them to proceed smoothly towards their meeting with the business delegation.

This trip saw Bai Xiaosheng not only investing and collaborating in Nalinta City but also acquiring a company from Luka, which was subsequently restructured into the new 'North Africa High-Tech' enterprise. Furthermore, he facilitated cooperation between four companies within the business group and Dilu City, successfully integrating them into his business alliance. It was clear that Bai Xiaosheng had emerged as the primary beneficiary of this business excursion.

The business delegation's next itinerary involved departing Naliya for a goodwill visit to a city in another country.

Perhaps another significant encounter awaited them.

Upon arriving outside the hotel where the business delegation was staying, Bai Xiaosheng thanked the driver before exiting the vehicle, requesting him to extend his gratitude to Mr. Samba. The driver, with a cheerful demeanor, affirmed it was his duty and promised to relay Bai Xiaosheng's regards.

After disembarking and watching the car depart, Bai Xiaosheng and his companions entered the hotel, exchanging pleasantries with familiar faces from the business group along the way.

Inside the ground floor lobby, their path crossed with Hou Yuncheng, who was just about to leave.

"Sheng, you're back. I was actually looking for you," Hou Yuncheng greeted Bai Xiaosheng with a smile.

Throughout this visit, while everyone else had followed the planned objectives, whether yielding significant gains or minimal ones, it was Bai Xiaosheng's actions that truly captured the attention of the business group's leaders and senior management. The repeated expressions of gratitude from Dilu City and the high commendations from Nalinta City had greatly pleased the Naliya authorities, who in turn repeatedly thanked the Huaxia Business Group for its contributions and frequently summoned the delegation's leaders.

Bai Xiaosheng and his team's accomplishments in fostering economic cooperation and exchanges, thereby strengthening mutual trust and friendship, perfectly aligned with the business group's original intentions. Consequently, Hou Yuncheng was delighted, eager to hear the details from Bai Xiaosheng immediately upon his return, and to convey the high praise from above, encouraging him to continue his excellent work.

Now, encountering Bai Xiaosheng in the lobby, Hou Yuncheng was naturally inclined to engage him in conversation.

"Director Hou, what a pleasant surprise. I also have something I wish to discuss with you," Bai Xiaosheng responded with a smile.

En route, Bai Xiaosheng had been contemplating the two plans he devised in the car, still hesitant about handing over the "Green Sky" matter to Wen Yan's team for resolution.

It wasn't a matter of trust in Wen Yan, but rather that this situation presented a prime opportunity for Bai Xiaosheng to fulfill his responsibilities within the group and earn valuable points towards a promotion. How could he simply let such a chance slip away?

Moreover, passing off difficulties to others was not Bai Xiaosheng's preferred method of operation.

Therefore, Bai Xiaosheng intended to inquire with Hou Yuncheng about the possibility of a slight delay, perhaps a couple of days. Once his current matters were settled, he aimed to proceed swiftly to meet with the business delegation.

Observing Bai Xiaosheng's demeanor, Hou Yuncheng's curiosity was piqued, and he smiled, "Oh, is that so? You have something to discuss with me? Let's chat over there."

Hou Yuncheng gestured towards a quiet corner of the lobby's resting area, where few people were present, making it ideal for a private conversation.

Bai Xiaosheng nodded in agreement.

Just then, his phone rang. Bai Xiaosheng offered an apologetic smile to Hou Yuncheng, retrieved his phone, and glanced at the caller ID.

A look of mild surprise crossed Bai Xiaosheng's face.

"Director Hou, my apologies, please give me a moment while I take this call," Bai Xiaosheng said, addressing Hou Yuncheng.

"No problem, I'm not in a hurry. I'll wait for you over there, but please be brief," Hou Yuncheng replied with a smile.

"Certainly." Bai Xiaosheng nodded his head promptly, arranging for Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying to escort Hou Yuncheng toward the designated seating area.

Once all arrangements were finalized, Bai Xiaosheng discreetly took his phone to a secluded spot before answering it.

"Hello, is this Ye Liena?" Bai Xiaosheng inquired with a light chuckle.

The caller was indeed Ye Liena, a former executive manager formerly under Caroline's employ, whom Bai Xiaosheng had since brought under his own wing.

"Mr. Bai, I need to discuss something with you," Ye Liena stated over the phone.

Yet, a discernible note of hesitation colored her voice.

"What is it, Ye Liena? Feel free to speak your mind; there's no need for any reservations with me," Bai Xiaosheng responded, still chuckling.

He found himself quite curious, wondering why Ye Liena, typically so direct, was suddenly sounding hesitant, as if on the verge of broaching a difficult subject.

"Well, it’s like this, Mr. Bai. My friend, Melanie – do you recall her..." Ye Liena began timidly over the call.

Forgetting Melanie was utterly out of the question. She had been entangled in one of Caroline's schemes against him, even manipulating Ye Liena in the process.

"I remember her. What about her?" Bai Xiaosheng asked calmly.

"It's just that she's always felt a great deal of guilt towards both you and myself," Ye Liena confessed after taking a deep breath. "Recently, she overheard some information by chance from a former colleague and immediately relayed it to me. I knew the information pertained to you, so I couldn't help but call. However, I'm uncertain about its accuracy, nor can I confirm if there are any actual issues, but I felt obligated to inform you. Also, Melanie never intended to cause you any harm..."

Ultimately, Ye Liena found herself unable to abandon her friend. Speaking on Melanie's behalf, she worried Bai Xiaosheng might become displeased or dismissive, hence her evident hesitation and reticence.

"I've long put the past behind me; it wasn't a deep-seated grudge. I can forgive her, regardless of how excessive her actions were previously, especially for your sake," Bai Xiaosheng said with a smile.

Recognizing Ye Liena as a rare talent, Bai Xiaosheng was willing to overlook Melanie's minor transgressions to ensure Ye Liena's continued loyalty.

This act underscored Bai Xiaosheng's keen appreciation for valuable individuals.

However, for a woman hearing such words, it might lead to a degree of overthinking.

"I-Is that so? In that case, thank you," Ye Liena stammered.

"So, what was it you intended to tell me?" Bai Xiaosheng sensed a subtle misunderstanding. Though unsure how to articulate his thoughts, he pressed on immediately.

Ye Liena steadied her breathing before continuing. "Here's the situation: Melanie learned from a former colleague that this individual has a friend who is close to Caroline, a woman named Jenny. Jenny recently traveled to Africa to finalize cooperation agreements with several group companies there. There were also indications that representatives from the Greater China Region – meaning your operations – would be heading to Africa to discuss collaborations with local enterprises, and a plan was in place to hinder these efforts. Upon hearing this, Melanie immediately contacted me, urging me to pass on a warning for you to exercise extreme caution!"

Bai Xiaosheng was momentarily taken aback by the news.

It was akin to being handed a pillow just as one was about to drift off to sleep.

As it turned out, Jenny was carrying crucial "evidence," which would significantly simplify their investigation.

"I understand now. Thank you, Ye Liena, and please extend my thanks to your friend as well," Bai Xiaosheng murmured into the phone.

After concluding his conversation with Ye Liena, Bai Xiaosheng disconnected the call, paused in thought for a moment, then put his phone away. He subsequently began walking back towards Hou Yuncheng and the others.

At that very moment, Hou Yuncheng was engrossed in conversation with Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying, their laughter filling the air.

Bai Xiaosheng approached and inquired, "Director Hou, what captivating topic were you discussing? It sounds like quite the lively exchange."

Noticing Bai Xiaosheng's return, Hou Yuncheng let out a hearty laugh. "We were just recounting your outstanding accomplishments during this recent venture."

Lin Weiwei playfully glanced at Bai Xiaosheng, her talent for embellishing his image proving quite effective.

"Ah, that's far too much praise. Please don't lend credence to her exaggerations," Bai Xiaosheng said with a grin.

Hou Yuncheng chuckled in response. "And why shouldn't we? As long as it's rooted in fact, highlighting glorious deeds is perfectly acceptable."

He then asked, "Have you concluded your phone call?"

Bai Xiaosheng offered a nod.

"Right, and what was it you wished to convey to me? You go first, as what I have to say consists solely of praise," Hou Yuncheng added with a grin.

"Me?" Bai Xiaosheng laughed. "I no longer have anything to discuss. Initially, I had a matter requiring the leadership's attention, but after that call, the issue has been satisfactorily resolved."
