Infinite Awakening: My Exp Doubles Everyday Chapter 477: Guo Yuxuan
Previously on Infinite Awakening: My Exp Doubles Everyday...
A young boy arrived at the entrance of a massive residence.
“Mom, Dad… I’m home!” he called out, waving his hand enthusiastically.
Seated in a reclining chair and focused on a newspaper, Guo Shantian shifted his eyes toward the child.
“Are you a toddler? Why must you announce your arrival every time?” Elder Guo remarked with a look of annoyance.
Ignoring his father’s grumpy attitude, the son held up an object for them to see. “Check out what I managed to find,” he boasted.
“Is that…” Shantian’s composure broke for a split second before he regained his calm. “How did you convince that kid Liu Feng to hand that over to you?” he inquired.
The boy merely offered a self-satisfied smirk in response.
Shantian let out a weary sigh. His son didn't seem particularly bright. Did the boy truly believe Liu Feng would part with such a thing willingly? While lost in thought, he detected a familiar presence and turned his head slowly.
“Old man…” Huang Fengqi started to speak but stopped abruptly. “Ah, son… you have returned,” she said.
Her face suddenly transformed. Shantian’s expression also shifted as he stood up from his chair. “This feeling…” A wide grin spread across his face. “It seems those unfilial disciples have finally recalled their old master,” he declared.
“Unfilial disciples?” the son muttered, his eyes widening in realization. Only two individuals were recognized by his father as true disciples. He glanced down at the book in his grip. “The Ancestor and his wife?”
Shantian burst into boisterous laughter. “Hahaha! It looks like you are finally going to receive a name,” he said, reaching out to ruffle the boy’s hair.
“A name?” the boy wondered. Despite having existed for millions of years, he had never been given a formal name. His parents had even forbidden him from adopting a Daoist name. He finally understood why the other Elders always looked at him with such envy. The Ancestor was his father’s own disciple; it appeared his father had been waiting for the Ancestor to bestow a name upon him.
Just then, three figures were seen descending from the heavens. It was Sect Master Liu Qing, accompanied by Xiang Yu and Li Yao.
“You rascals… have you finally remembered your master after all this time?” Shantian called out as the trio touched down.
Xiang Yu prepared to kneel in greeting to his master, but Shantian and Fengqi instantly appeared at his side to stop him. “Little Yu, do not make things difficult for your master,” she urged. She reflected privately on how chaotic the hierarchy of this Sect had become.
Since Xiang Yu now held the status of Ancestor, having him kneel would be inappropriate.
“But Master claimed I was unfilial. I was merely trying to demonstrate my filiality,” Xiang Yu replied.
Shantian let out an embarrassed cough. The boy had overheard him from such a great distance. Exactly how powerful had he become?
“Ahem, that was just a passing comment. How could you ever be unfilial?” he said, shifting his gaze away.
Xiang Yu smiled. His Master and Martial Aunt remained exactly as he remembered them.
“What is your name?” Li Yao asked, suddenly appearing right in front of Shantian’s son.
The boy froze in shock. He couldn't fathom how she had moved—one moment she was with the others, and the next she was standing before him. Not even Uncle Liu Feng possessed such speed.
While the boy struggled to find words, Xiang Yu appeared by Li Yao’s side.
“Don’t frighten your nephew,” Xiang Yu teased. He looked at the boy, and their eyes met. Smiling, he reached out and placed a hand on the boy’s head. “From this day forward, you shall be known as Yuxuan. Guo Yuxuan,” Xiang Yu declared. As he spoke, a powerful surge of Qi pulsed through the boy’s body.
“What are you standing there for? Hurry and thank the Ancestor,” Fengqi prompted.
The boy bowed low. “I thank the Ancestor.”
…
Xiang Yu, Li Yao, and the others shared a meal at Guo Shantian’s home, spending the evening catching up.
Even though Xiang Yu was already aware of everything that had happened, he found the company pleasant.
Once the meal concluded, Li Yao stood up. “You… you shall become my disciple,” she said to Yuxuan, a smile playing on her lips.
This sudden announcement stunned everyone. Li Yao was not known for seeking out responsibilities. However, Xiang Yu simply smiled. The way this girl thought was truly peculiar.
Li Yao looked quite pleased with herself. “Hmph, don’t think your intentions are hidden from me,” she thought. She realized that the Master and Martial Aunt clearly intended for Xiang Yu to take Yuxuan as his pupil. That was why they had delayed naming him for so long.
She had no intention of letting that happen; she wanted Senior Brother’s undivided attention for herself. Furthermore, the boy had already reached the Dao Realm. There was nothing left to instruct at that level of Cultivation.
The arrangement was purely for show.
Yuxuan glanced at his mother, who gave him a nod of approval. “Disciple greets the Master,” he said formally.
Li Yao nodded. “Excellent,” she replied. “Consider this a meeting gift.” She produced a golden bell out of thin air and passed it to him.
“A… a Heavenly Dao Treasure?” Fengqi gasped. Her face then grew solemn. “Xiao Yao…” she began. “I have always regarded you as…”
Before she could finish her sentimental plea, Li Yao interrupted. “You can have one as well. There is no need for such theatrics,” she said, tossing a pair of earrings toward her. This Martial Aunt had certainly become more brazen over the years.
Suddenly, Shantian adopted a serious expression as well. “Disciple Li Yao…” he started.
“Absolutely not. I am giving you nothing, old man. How can you be so shameless?” she retorted, shaking her head.
Shantian looked at her pointedly. “You never provided a dowry for our Xiang Yu,” he noted, causing Li Yao to go rigid.
He began ticking points off on his fingers. “I overlooked it before because you were lacking resources, but now that you are wealthy, you still refuse to give anything?” He looked away with a sigh. “It is fine. It was my own mistake to expect anything at all,” he said, sounding defeated.
“The old man’s acting skills have certainly leveled up,” Xiang Yu thought to himself.
“Master, you have it all wrong,” Li Yao said with a bright smile, quickly piling a mountain of treasures onto the table.
Shantian stole a glance at his wife, who was watching him with a peculiar look. “Hmph, your skills might be decent, but you are still a million years too young to outmaneuver this old man,” he thought as he gathered the treasures.
…
A/N: Yes, I know li yao’s reasoning here about the disciple thing makes no sense. But then…its li yao…
