Immortality Cultivation: I Farm in the System Space Chapter 2 - 2 Senior Han

Lin Jing's hopes for a future within the Qingyuan Sword Sect crumbled as he faced expulsion due to insufficient Spirit Rice. After the destruction of his Spirit Field, attributed to vagrants but ultimately deemed his failure, Lin Jing was left to grapple with betrayal and humiliation. Yuan Bo's taunting only compounded his despair as the weight of his solitary journey through the harsh realities of this cultivation world pressed on him. With memories of a different life flashing before him, Lin Jing stood on the precipice of an uncertain fate outside the sect, having lost the only sanctuary he had known.

Chapter 2 Senior Han

“Do you have any objections to this?”

Lin Jing had already foreseen this result, so he didn't bother defending himself.

“No, I accept the Sect’s arrangement,” Lin Jing replied with a bow.

Manager Li gave a nod and gestured dismissively. “Go back and gather your things. You are to leave the mountain tomorrow.”

Lin Jing bowed again. “Manager Li, I shall take my leave.”

With those words, he turned to depart.

“Hold on.”

Suddenly, a voice interrupted.

Looking up, Lin Jing saw it was the Inner Sect Disciple in charge of the Spirit Rice collection who had spoken.

Manager Li glanced at him with confusion, unable to fathom why he would intervene now. He quickly reminded him,

“Senior Han, his expulsion is already decided by the Sect Elders. The matter is closed; please do not let yourself be troubled by it.”

The Inner Sect Disciple remained calm, his expression unreadable as he addressed Manager Li. “Junior Brother Li, you are overthinking things.”

He then shifted his gaze toward Lin Jing, watching him with an intense, scrutinizing look.

Feeling uncomfortable under such a stare, Lin Jing searched his memories but realized he had no connection to this Senior Han. He couldn't understand why the man was observing him so closely.

After a long silence, Senior Han finally spoke.

“Is your name Lin Jing?”

Lin Jing offered a respectful bow. “Yes, Senior Brother.”

Though his role was merely that of a spiritual farmer, Lin Jing was still technically a menial Disciple of the Qingyuan Sword Sect. Therefore, calling an Inner Sect Disciple 'Senior Brother' was the proper etiquette.

Even though he had just been kicked out of the Qingyuan Sword Sect, he had no other way to address him, so he stuck with the formal title.

Senior Han didn't seem to mind. He continued, “Do you know a man named Lin Yue?”

Lin Jing was startled and quickly answered, “Replying to Senior Brother, Lin Yue was indeed my father.”

Senior Han nodded slowly before speaking again.

“The mountain paths are crawling with Demonic Beasts, making the journey quite treacherous. As it happens, I must descend the mountain tomorrow morning. Come here at dawn, and you shall travel with me.”

Upon hearing this, Manager Li tried to intervene. “Senior Han, he is merely an expelled Disciple. It is enough to let him find his own way down. Why would you go through the trouble of escorting him personally?”

Senior Han looked at Lin Jing and said softly, “I shared a past bond with his father. Since he is the son of an old acquaintance, I cannot simply watch him come to harm while I am present.”

“I see. Senior Han is truly a man of remarkable loyalty and character.”

Manager Li forced a smile and added,

“But why should Senior Han be burdened by such trivialities?”

“How about this? I will personally escort him down tomorrow. I have contacts in the Fang Market at the base of the mountain. I can arrange a place for him to stay and perhaps find him some employment.”

“This would satisfy Senior Han’s intentions perfectly, wouldn't it?”

Senior Han did not respond. Instead, he turned a sharp, piercing gaze toward Manager Li.

Manager Li felt a wave of unease under that stare. He let out a few awkward laughs and asked,

“Senior Han, is there something wrong?”

Finally, Senior Han spoke. “Junior Brother Li, you are already quite busy; there is no need to trouble yourself. The Demonic Beasts below are vicious, and I doubt you would be able to hold them off.”

“I have no intention of letting the son of a friend get hurt.”

“Junior Brother Li.”

“Do you… understand?”

Faced with Senior Han’s heavy, pressuring gaze, a flash of alarm crossed Manager Li’s eyes, though he masked it almost instantly.

He bowed deeply to Senior Han and said,

“Senior Han’s noble sentiment is truly worthy of my respect.”

Turning back to Lin Jing, Manager Li commanded,

“Lin Jing, since Senior Han is going to take you down the mountain tomorrow, you should show your gratitude.”

“My thanks to you, Senior Han.”

Lin Jing didn't fully grasp the underlying tension, but he still bowed to express his thanks.

“Be sure to arrive early tomorrow morning. I will be waiting; do not be late.”

“Senior Han, I will be here.”

With that, Lin Jing said his goodbyes to the two men and hauled his cart away.

……

The sky was already black by the time he returned to his shack. Lin Jing felt too tired to cook, so he settled for some dry rations to stave off hunger.

Under the faint glow of the moon, he looked over the small cottage that had been his home for the past year. Knowing he had to leave tomorrow, he felt a small pang of sadness.

After all, this was his first residence in this world after his transmigration, even if it was a solitary existence.

His predecessor's mother had passed away long ago, and his father had died a year prior, leaving behind almost nothing. It took very little time for Lin Jing to finish his packing.

Once everything was ready, Lin Jing sat cross-legged on his bed, replaying the day's events in his mind.

He didn't believe a single word Manager Li said regarding the refugees from outside the mountains.

This was the territory of the Qingyuan Sword Sect. Neither refugees nor independent Cultivators would dare cause trouble in this place.

Therefore, only one conclusion remained: the sabotage of the Spirit Field was almost certainly Manager Li’s doing.

“The exchange between Senior Han and Manager Li today felt like there was a hidden meaning,” Lin Jing mused in the darkness.

“Is Manager Li scheming against me?”

“If he was the one who destroyed the Spirit Field, what was his end goal?”

“Was it purely to get me thrown out of the Sect, or does he plan to finish me off once I’m off the mountain?”

Lin Jing felt he was nearing the truth of the situation.

“I’ve never even crossed him.”

“If he’s after money, that makes even less sense. I am penniless, possessing only two Low Grade Spirit Stones. I’m among the poorest of all spirit farmers.”

This was the part that baffled Lin Jing the most.

As for Senior Han, Lin Jing sensed no ill will from the man.

Senior Han seemed like someone he could trust…

Regarding his expulsion, Lin Jing wasn't bothered at all.

In fact, he was somewhat relieved.

The life of a spirit farmer in the Qingyuan Sword Sect offered no freedom. They were forbidden from leaving the mountain and had zero access to better Cultivation resources.

With his level of talent, staying here meant he would never amount to anything.

How could a transmigrator be satisfied with just being a lowly farmer?

He certainly wasn't, so leaving the Sect had always been part of his long-term plan; it was simply happening sooner than he had intended.

Besides, he was a man with a System…

Even if the System didn't give him an immediate boost in power, it ensured he would never go hungry or lack basic necessities.

Lin Jing wanted to complain every time he thought about his System.

But on second thought, being given a second life was a massive stroke of luck. It was as if his ancestors' graves were emitting green smoke.

He should be thankful for what he had.

……

“Right now, the priority is increasing my power. No more overthinking. I am currently on the verge of the second level of Qi Refinement. If all goes well, I should break through tonight.”

Lin Jing settled into a deep meditative state.

The Spiritual Energy in this hut was much more sparse than in Manager Li’s courtyard. After a long period of focus, Lin Jing felt a trickle of Qi entering his body and flowing through his Meridians.

He continued his meditation deep into the night. As the Zi Time was more than halfway through, a prompt echoed in his mind.

“System Space time has been reset. Available time to enter: 2 hours.”

Lin Jing’s eyes snapped open, a small smile playing on his lips.

“I’ve been waiting for this.”
