Blood sprayed from all seven orifices on Canero’s face. Even though he used his supernatural powers to form a shield over his body, Blood Tide’s vastly enhanced strength still kept him from completely shutting out the effects of the ability.

His heart grew heavy. He could only turn to Newton, hoping Newton would use his abilities to resolve the crisis.

But the sight that greeted him only made him even more horrified.

Blood was streaming grotesquely from all seven of Newton’s orifices, too. Even his arms were drenched in blood.

“It’s over!”

Canero thought in despair.

If even Newton, a Black Chariot-tier Transcendent, couldn’t block the enemy’s attack, how could he?

Newton hovered motionless in midair. Then, suddenly, a bitter smile appeared on his bloodstained face, and he looked toward Blood Tide with a mocking glint in his eyes.

In the distance, Blood Tide had just unleashed his ability when a torrent of blood suddenly burst from his body!

Blood gushed from his nostrils, the corners of his mouth, his eyes, his ears, and even the capillaries beneath his skin.

“Cough, cough…”

Blood Tide clutched his body, his eyes filled with disbelief.

“How can this be? What exactly is this guy’s ability?”

He had clearly attacked Newton and Canero, so why was he the one who’d been hurt? And why did it look as though he’d used his own ability to attack himself?

Newton wiped the blood from his face. His combat suit swiftly injected him with plasma and medication.

“Newton’s Third Law.”

“Whenever two objects interact, the force they exert on each other is equal in magnitude and opposite in direction.”

“Put simply, forces act in pairs.”

“When you used your ability against me, your body suffered exactly the same injuries I did!”

“At times like this, it comes down to which of us can withstand more damage.”

After receiving the plasma and medication, Newton’s body began to recover rapidly.

With an ability like his, he had naturally prepared in advance to heal himself.

In fact, when he took that hit, he had deliberately lowered his defenses so he would suffer greater injuries, allowing him to strike back at Blood Tide.

Blood Tide, on the other hand, had never expected his own ability to rebound on him, so his injuries were even worse!

Canero gritted his teeth and seized the opportunity to raise his gun and fire!

“You used telekinesis to distort the light, throwing off my aim, didn’t you?”

“Let me take it from here!”

Newton wiped the blood from beneath his nose, then raised the hand cannon his beloved wife had become, the Atheist.

“Mind Ray!”

The cannon blast roared toward the area where Nian and Blood Tide were. They couldn’t evade an attack with such a wide range by using a petty trick like distorting light.

Besides, Blood Tide had been caught completely off guard and seriously wounded.

“Hmph!”

Blood Tide’s eyes blazed with undisguised killing intent. It was only natural that his own attack had dealt him such severe injuries. But as long as the River of Blood did not run dry, he could not be killed.

However, the ultraviolet rays raining down from the sky had grown even more intense. He felt as if he were being steamed inside a giant pot.

The feeling became even more pronounced whenever the capillaries throughout his body burst and blood poured out.

He clenched his right fist and formed a massive blood barrier, joining it with Nian’s telekinetic barrier to shield them from Newton.

But immediately afterward, Newton roared again, “Mind Ray!”

Canero, standing behind him, stared in a daze.

Didn’t you say using that move would leave your wife with injuries that were almost impossible to heal?

Man, you sure don’t look like you’re worried about her at all!

Newton raised the Atheist and fired another blast!

When he used the Atheist, it was basically a husband-and-wife tag-team attack, so its power was naturally formidable!

While Blood Tide’s injuries had yet to fully heal, Newton kept up his assault. By now, Canero behind him was completely numb. With a face as blank as a playing card, he used his abilities to support Newton’s attacks.

A moment ago, he’d been moved by the couple’s twisted, abnormal love. Now he realized that emotion had been completely wasted.

After a series of attacks, Blood Tide and Nian had no choice but to retreat. They were finding it increasingly difficult to block the attacks.

Even the light on the Atheist began to dim.

Carrying the hand cannon, Newton roared at Canero, “Pursue them! We have to take them out today! We can’t let anyone underestimate the strength of Colombia’s Transcendents!”

He raised the hand cannon once more and chased after Blood Tide and Nian.

When the distance between the two sides reached a certain point, he lifted the Atheist and aimed it directly at the pair in the distance.

Blood Tide and Nian could already feel the pressure bearing down on them.

Under normal circumstances, they might have been able to fight back and forth for a while. But their geographical disadvantage meant they didn’t dare fight at full strength.

So Blood Tide chose to stall for time, waiting for the Gatekeeper of the Underworld to finish the battle.

Seeing Newton and Canero catch up, Blood Tide said to Nian, “Their attacks are weakening! That guy’s hand cannon has clearly reached its limit from firing so often.”

“Block this attack, then use its force to retreat into the sea!”

The two settled on a plan and immediately raised their barriers.

Newton and Canero had both expended a great deal of energy by now. They couldn’t possibly pierce the pair’s defenses in a single strike.

Newton aimed his hand cannon at their ability barrier. Canero fired first, and the Mind Ray followed right behind.

Just as Blood Tide and Nian thought they could block the attack,

they suddenly felt their supernatural powers go haywire. The barrier they had raised began to grow unstable as well.

A cold smile appeared at the corner of Newton’s mouth.

“Newton’s First Law.”

“An object remains at rest or continues moving in a straight line at a constant speed unless acted upon by an external force.”

“But I can apply an external force to interfere with a Transcendent’s ability, making the release of their powers unstable.”
