Chapter 602: The Youth Ji Jiuwu
“Given that this peak looks like a tilted crescent moon, we shall name it Slanted Moon Mountain.”
Chu Feng spoke with a relaxed pace, leisurely waving the feather fan in his hand.
“Slanted Moon Mountain is an excellent name.”
Cao Youqian whispered to himself, “In the future, when I descend the mountain for Cultivation, I will announce myself as the Body Ancestor of the Wendao Sect of Slanted Moon Mountain.”
Hearing this, Xiao Chen added, “In that case, I shall refer to myself as the Ancestor of Ten Thousand Swords.”
“That is acceptable.”
Chu Feng continued to fan himself as he remarked, “Both of those titles are quite impressive.”
Cao Youqian rubbed his head and asked, “But Master, why is it that after declaring this title, the Heavenly Dao has not yet acknowledged me?”
Chu Feng replied with a thin smile, “That is simply because your strength is insufficient. Once you reach the rank of a Saint, your every word and deed will resonate with heaven and earth, and you will naturally receive their recognition.”
“So that's how it works. Then I must head out to practice my Cultivation and aim for the Half-Saint Realm as quickly as possible.”
Cao Youqian spoke with immense self-assurance.
Chu Feng then noted, “It is good to have confidence. However, before you depart, I shall demonstrate how one ought to accept disciples.”
“Master, are you implying that cultivators will soon arrive at our Wendao Sect to request apprenticeship?” Xiao Chen asked, looking confused.
“Precisely.”
Chu Feng paused for a second before clarifying, “The mountain-protecting grand formation of our Sect has the power to draw in spiritual energy and fortune. Certain destined children of providence will be instinctively pulled by this luck to seek Cultivation at our Wendao Sect.”
“But wouldn't that mean ordinary children might accidentally stumble in as well?” Cao Youqian questioned.
Smack!
Chu Feng struck Cao Youqian’s forehead with his feather fan. “You rascal, you’ve followed me for all these years and only gained muscle while losing your wits. Is the mountain-protecting formation of our Wendao Sect something a commoner can breach? I have specifically configured it so that only those possessing immense fortune can cross the barrier.”
Cao Youqian rubbed his head sheepishly and fell silent.
Waving his fan, Chu Feng said, “Very well, go back to your Cultivation for now. I will stay here to rest my mind for a bit.”
“Yes.”
The two disciples bowed and departed together.
Days turned into a week, and roughly nine days later, during the dead of night.
At the base of Slanted Moon Mountain, a lanky youth was sprinting through the woods. Trailing behind him was a saber-toothed tiger demon over one zhang tall, pursuing him at a leisurely pace.
The saber-toothed tiger demon acted like a cat toyed with a mouse. It nearly overtook the youth several times but refrained from attacking, clearly wanting to prolong the hunt for its own amusement.
Hearing the heavy, hot breath of the tiger behind him, the youth did not dare to slow down. As he burst out of the thicket, he found a massive mountain blocking his path.
Trying to circle the mountain was impossible. At his current speed, he couldn't outrun the demon on flat ground, let alone on mountain slopes.
With no retreat possible, he could only pray that a more terrifying demon beast lived on the mountain to frighten away his stalker.
Driven by that thought, the youth summoned his final reserves of energy and bolted toward the mountain.
Seeing the boy's sudden burst of speed, the saber-toothed tiger demon wore a look of mockery. It seemed the human was reaching his limit; devouring such a specimen would surely help its own Cultivation progress.
Thus, the demon continued to follow slowly, maintaining the gap.
As the mountain loomed closer, a surge of power suddenly flared within the youth’s body, causing his speed to spike again.
Was this human about to trigger some sort of secret technique?
The saber-toothed tiger demon had no intention of letting its meal escape, and a human who had awakened a secret technique would be even more delicious.
The moment the youth crossed into the boundaries of Slanted Moon Mountain, the tiger demon lunged forward in a massive pounce.
Bang!
The tiger demon slammed into the formation and was instantly knocked unconscious. The youth heard a thunderous boom behind him and pushed himself to run even faster.
After a long while, the youth noticed the sound of the tiger’s breathing had vanished. He stopped and turned around tentatively, only to find the demon was nowhere to be seen.
Hoo…
The youth exhaled deeply and collapsed on the spot. Only now did he realize he was drained, his throat parched for water, and his limbs feeling as heavy as lead, making it impossible to move.
He surveyed his surroundings but saw no fruit trees, only a stone path winding up the peak.
It’s over. Am I destined to die here?
In that moment, a voice as sweet as celestial music reached him. “Little guy, your luck is quite remarkable to have found your way to my Wendao Sect.”
The youth slowly lifted his gaze and saw a young member of the Giant Clan standing over him. Shaking uncontrollably, he stammered, “Y-you... you aren't going to eat me, are you?”
“Hahaha…”
Cao Youqian burst into laughter. “If I were to eat anything, it would be that little kitty outside. Why would I bother with you?”
As he spoke, he reached out with a massive hand and picked up the unconscious saber-toothed tiger demon by its scruff, muttering, “A Spirit Nurturing Realm saber-toothed tiger. This will make for a decent snack.”
The youth was stunned. That tiger demon was strong enough to kill his squad leader, yet this giant handled it with a single hand.
Noticing the youth's parched lips, Cao Youqian saw he was suffering from dehydration. He pulled a water flask from his storage ring and tossed it over.
“Drink this, then follow me up the mountain.”
“Thank you.”
The youth opened the container and gulped down the liquid.
Strangely, after only two swallows, he felt his stomach become incredibly full. Looking down, he saw his belly had become round and bloated.
Seeing this, Cao Youqian took the flask back and explained with a grin, “This is Saint-grade spiritual spring water. One sip is worth ten of the ordinary kind. The fact that you could handle two mouthfuls proves your body isn't weak.”
Hearing the compliment, the youth straightened his back and said, “Back home among the disciples of the Fire God Clan, I was the strongest.”
“A seventeen-year-old True Fate Realm body cultivator is indeed impressive.”
Cao Youqian could tell at a glance that the boy was a body cultivator. However, he sensed no Qi or spiritual energy, as if the boy focused purely on physical refinement.
The youth looked at Cao Youqian with total confusion and asked, “What is the True Fate Realm? I am a practitioner of the Muscle Forging Realm.”
Only then did Cao Youqian recall that this wasn't the Profound Heaven Continent, and this world's Cultivation systems were different.
He smiled and said, “You will learn in time. Can you still walk?”
“Yes. I can head back down the mountain now.”
The youth bowed deeply toward Cao Youqian. “Thank you, senior, for saving my life. I will definitely repay this debt in the future.”
Cao Youqian laughed, “I never told you to leave. Since you’ve made it here, come up the mountain with me and we’ll eat this tiger.”
“N-no-no…”
The youth shook his head frantically. “Senior, you have already done enough. How could I take more from you?”
Cao Youqian insisted, “Meeting like this is fate. Besides, it is dark now, and the descent wouldn't be safe. You can leave tomorrow after we’ve finished the tiger meat.”
The youth finally gave a nod. “Thank you, senior.”
“Stop calling me senior. My name is Cao Youqian. Just call me Daqian. What is your name?” Cao Youqian inquired.
The youth answered, “Senior, my name is Ji Jiuwu.”
