I Arrived At Wizard World While Cultivating Immortality Chapter 968: The State of Wizard Civilization

“These fellows have delivered themselves right to our door,” one wizard could not help saying, watching the creatures charging in from the distance.
This gigantic six-armed life form had finally broken through the aftershocks and charged up close, at the cost of half its six arms, with its body covered in scorch marks besides.
The wizard raised a palm, and a binding dropped over it in an instant, locking it firmly in place.
“Seal.”
An array condensed, and before the creature could react, its entire body was compressed into a ball of light and sealed straight into a special container.
The sight quickly brought the wizards around him to their senses.
In that case… there was no point in letting them go to waste.
Bang!
A shelled creature more than a hundred meters long pounced in front of Jie Ming.
Jie Ming raised a hand, and a golden light pierced through its body.
His current vision was enough to let him crush the other side’s resistance with ease while still leaving it alive.
Right after that, an array unfolded from his hand, enveloped its entire body, then rapidly compressed and sealed it.
“One.”
Jie Ming casually stowed the sealed thing in his inner world.
Watching the life forms charging in without end, he set about turning them into specimens one after another, with great patience.
Nor was it only Jie Ming. The other wizards were all sealing away creature specimens in great batches as they fought.
And the wizards were clever about it: they did not gather large numbers of creature specimens together, but sealed them separately.
They were afraid that too many creature specimens crowded together might become a medium for that ninth-level creature’s power and be turned against them.
It was no wonder the wizards were so excited. As research material, ninth-level creatures were genuinely quite rare.
In theory, more than three eighth-level wizards working together could to some degree resist or even defeat a ninth-level life form, and on the main battlefield ninth-level life forms were not exactly few.
But that did not mean the wizards had many research specimens of ninth-level life forms.
After all, on the main battlefield both sides had personnel around to support one another. Defeating or routing a ninth-level creature was easy, but capturing or killing one was extremely difficult.
If a ninth-level creature wanted to flee, almost no one could stop it.
That was why, the last few times Jie Ming had encountered ninth-level creatures, every one of those eighth-level wizards had eyes glowing green with greed. There simply were too few research specimens.
Eighth-level wizards did not have enough ninth-level creature specimens for themselves, let alone the wizards below the eighth level.
So now that they had finally come across some creature specimens connected to a ninth-level creature, these wizards were rounding them up as if they had gone mad.
…
…
As time passed, Jie Ming finally stowed away the last sealed creature.
He glanced at the wizards who were starting to gather up various pieces of flesh and tissue, shook his head, and paid them no mind, turning his attention instead to the distant battlefield.
Boom!
The plane wizard Number One slammed head-on into the ninth-level creature.
Immense power erupted between the two of them. The ninth-level creature raised a hand and blocked the terrifying elemental torrent, but its body was still driven back and back under the impact.
Before it could adjust its position, the plane wizard Number Two had already pressed in from the other side.
Its vast world-body, now shrunk down, came rolling over like a heavy truck. Countless elements and law powers stacked up on one another as it advanced, forming an extremely terrifying tide of energy.
The ninth-level creature was forced to turn once again.
But it had only just changed direction when the plane wizard Number Three finished gathering its power, and a beam of energy almost condensed into solid substance pierced through the chaotic void.
The ninth-level creature’s face showed something like frustrated rage.
It had no choice but to raise both hands to block.
Boom!
The beam struck between its arms, the terrifying power burst open, and the ninth-level creature’s body was blown away.
And Wizard Number One, having finished its earlier attack, had already charged up again.
On the other side, Wizard Fate stood outside the battlefield throughout.
He did not launch one fierce attack after another as the three plane wizards did, but maintained his law fixation, keeping it firmly draped over the ninth-level creature the whole time.
In an area not far away, Wizard Starfall, under his protection, kept recording the scene with a recording crystal.
Watching the three plane wizards steamroll their enemy, even though they had long expected it, Wizard Starfall and Wizard Fate could not help breaking into excited smiles.
“Wonderful, Lord Fate. It looks like the plane wizard cultivation plan was right!” Starfall could not help saying, her voice full of excitement.
Wizard Fate, usually so calm and mild, kept nodding as well, satisfaction on his face. “Very good. I never expected such combat power. It really is better than we predicted!”
“This way, as soon as the first batch of plane wizards finishes its cultivation, they can be committed to the main battlefield and raise the legions’ combat power by a wide margin!”
Granted, the ninth-level creature before them still seemed to be wounded, but that could not hide how strong the plane wizards were.
It meant that in the future, when wizard civilization faced a ninth-level creature, it would need only one eighth-level wizard leading a squad of two or more plane wizards to face it alone!
For wizard civilization, that was nothing short of an enormous boost in combat power!
At the thought, he could not help smiling as he looked at Starfall. “This technology of yours really could not have come at a better time for wizard civilization!”
At that, however, Starfall caught another meaning in his words, and her expression grew somewhat grave. “Has the situation already become that serious?”
Wizard Fate glanced at the other wizards and sighed. A power silently settled over the two of them, cutting off all perception from outside.
“It’s troublesome. The main battlefield’s forces have been stretched thin all along. The three dealing with the Reflection Dimension and the four dealing with the Sentience Calamity can’t be moved, and the First Seat can’t be moved either, so the only one facing the Multiracial Alliance has been the Third Seat.”
“All the eighth-level wizards have been sent to assist on the Multiracial Alliance’s battlefield, but because the Reflection Dimension is there, the Third Seat has never dared to use full strength on the main battlefield. So the main force facing the Multiracial Alliance is still us eighth-level wizards. And now…”
Wizard Fate sighed, and Starfall understood what he meant.
Wizard civilization was strong, but against these enemies it had truly reached its limit.
And now yet another power resembling the Multiracial Alliance had been discovered. Even if it was somewhat smaller in scale, that was still a considerable headache for wizard civilization.
That was why the elite combat unit plan had been rolled out in such a hurry.
A reform that touched the whole of wizard civilization had laid its foundations in under a thousand years. Speed like that was naturally because ninth-level wizards were pushing it from behind.
After a moment of reflection, Wizard Fate laughed again. “No need to look so dejected. Now that we have this technology of yours, we’ll be able to free up a great deal more combat power on the battlefields to come!”
At that, Wizard Starfall laughed along with him.
On the other side, Jie Ming was already absorbed in watching the fight.
Because of Wizard Fate’s law fixation, this ninth-level creature could only use itself as a base, generating power out of nothing by relying on its traits of “thought becomes reality” and infinite power.
In Jie Ming’s eyes, that meant it was using its own runes as a base and replicating and adding runes in an endless stream.
But the three plane wizards’ powerful attacks were also forcing it to respond at high intensity the whole time, constantly expending the power it had generated out of nothing, leaving it unable to accumulate power and raise its own strength.
One could say that the battle had by now settled into an extremely mechanical cycle.
Under the three plane wizards’ coordination, the ninth-level creature was wounded and healed, then wounded all over again, with no time at all to strengthen itself.
Jie Ming could even see clearly that the logic by which the runes inside that ninth-level creature’s body ran was growing more and more chaotic, which meant its power was growing weaker and weaker!
Jie Ming could not help marveling. “Impressive!”
He could clearly feel the intensity of the battle between the two sides, and the most obvious effect showed on the surrounding planes.
Plane clusters were constantly being drawn in from all around, but those planes could not get very close at all before the battle’s aftershocks shattered them.
And even more of the planes never got the chance to be shattered. They were dismantled offhand by the three plane wizards as they mobilized elemental power, every element inside them drained out and turned into the wizards’ own attacks.
One could say that in a battle of this level, those vast planes did not even count as a battlefield. They were nothing more than energy reserves to be used at will!
As time passed, the ninth-level creature’s movements grew visibly slower.
Jie Ming narrowed his eyes. “Almost there.”
This ninth-level creature’s defeat was now only a matter of time.
