I Arrived At Wizard World While Cultivating Immortality Chapter 957: Conjecture and Daydreams

If the real test subject Number One had come here for was not this parasite, then only one answer remained.
Jie Ming and Viola exchanged a glance; the same possibility had occurred to them almost at once.
The Central World.
Or, to be precise, whatever was hidden inside the Central World.
“ROAR!!!”
Just then, an unbearably shrill mental wail came from the distance.
It was not a sound wave in the true sense, but a kind of mental fluctuation, and its force was so great that even the surrounding space rippled.
Jie Ming looked up and saw that the enormous super-parasite had lost all ability to resist.
Number One’s vast planar body bore down on it from above. A dazzling white radiance flashed past, and the parasite’s remaining body was torn forcibly into countless fragments.
Dark green corrosive vapor gushed from the shattered carcass, only to dissipate rapidly in the pale blue light of the Law that Number One released.
The last of its mental fluctuations was like the final wisp of a flame in the wind. It flickered weakly a few times, then went out completely.
With the parasite dead, the vast cluster of planes that had wound its way through the void lost its core as well.
The black segmented limbs that had bound the worlds tightly together quickly snapped, and the world cluster, once shaped like a gigantic centipede, began to fall apart.
Several thousand planes, robbed of any unified control, scattered through the void like a severed string of pearls, drifting aimlessly on nothing but the worlds’ own inertia.
With that, the battle was finally over.
Jie Ming turned his gaze to Number One in the distance.
After so intense a battle, the surface of Number One’s plane bore a good many scars from the fighting, yet its immense power remained astonishingly abundant.
It was as though the battle just now, fierce enough to shake the void, had been nothing more than a warm-up to it.
Undisguised longing surfaced in Jie Ming’s eyes.
The fighting strength of a plane wizard truly was astonishing.
He had watched the whole battle from start to finish.
Energy reserves, Law strength, recovery ability: in every one of them, Number One had already gone far beyond the bounds of an ordinary high-level life.
Above all, once it had gradually learned to compress its own power and concentrate its vast attacks onto a single point, the destructive force it displayed had been enough to overpower the super-parasite head-on.
What was more, that was not even its limit.
Judging by its performance just now at least, Number One had strength to spare to keep fighting, and could even keep part of its attack radius under control while sustaining a high-intensity output.
Fighting strength like this counted as an extremely powerful existence even within the whole of wizard civilization!
As Jie Ming looked at that enormous plane, an excitement that grew stronger and stronger kindled in his heart.
Because he knew that he himself might well have the chance to walk the same path.
At present his true body stood a mere five hundred kilometers tall.
Among wizards that already counted as an extremely massive form, enough to make plenty of ordinary seventh-level lives quail at the sight of it.
But compared with a large plane like Number One, the gulf between their sizes was still as wide as that between heaven and earth.
An ordinary small plane the size of a planet could easily be over ten thousand kilometers in diameter, while the scale of a large plane was measured in light-years.
Standing before an existence like that, a true body of five hundred kilometers truly did not amount to so much as a speck of dust.
But a true body was not fixed.
Once he had cultivated his Third Layer Dharma Form to its true limit and then fully refined it into his own true body, his size would reach a truly terrifying degree, enough even to approach the scale of a medium plane.
And the greatest feature of Dharma Form methods was that they had no endpoint in the true sense.
After the Third Layer Dharma Form, there was still a fourth layer, a fifth…
With each advance, his size would keep growing in similar proportion.
So long as he could keep researching and understanding new Laws, he could keep cultivating forever.
In other words, the heights a plane wizard could reach were not necessarily beyond him.
From a certain angle, the appearance of plane wizards had actually let Jie Ming see his own future even more clearly.
With that thought, far from feeling that Number One was out of reach, Jie Ming found himself looking forward to his own future all the more.
Sooner or later, he too would have a size that could rival a large plane.
Perhaps even… something stronger!
Gathering his thoughts, Jie Ming and Viola followed Starfall and Wizard Fate as they flew toward Number One.
By now Number One had finished fighting. Its gigantic planar body floated quietly nearby, evidently digesting what it had gained from the battle.
Starfall did not disturb it. Instead she sorted the last of the data, filing Number One’s performance item by item from the start of the battle to its end.
Jie Ming, meanwhile, used the lull to give Wizard Fate a brief rundown of what they had discovered earlier.
“If this parasite wasn’t Number One’s real target this time, then the most reasonable subject left is the Central World.”
“That world sits at the very center of the whole cluster, and its space-time quality is abnormally high. Ordinary lives can’t get anywhere near it. With the intelligence we’ve gathered so far, we can’t even confirm what exists inside it.”
Wizard Fate heard him out and nodded gently.
“What you describe matches my foresight very well. It looks like that is where the target lies. The specifics are very blurry, but I can be certain there is a target there worth testing.”
Jie Ming and Viola exchanged a glance.
Sure enough, their guess had not been wrong.
Starfall had put away the recording crystal in her hand as well.
She glanced at the plane cluster in the distance, which was gradually settling down again, and spoke in a level tone.
“Now that the direction is confirmed, I’ll have Number One keep adapting to a genuine combat environment.”
Jie Ming nodded. “If you need opponents for real combat, I can give you contact details for some other wizards. They shouldn’t refuse.”
“Then I’ll trouble you for them.”
Over on the other side, Viola had already begun dealing with the spoils of this battle.
Her plant-people legion was entering the planes freed from the parasite’s control and advancing through them layer by layer according to the established procedure.
With their core gone, these planes were still vast, but they no longer had a unified will or any high-level lives to lead a resistance.
The plant-people legion soon re-marked the worlds one after another, then sorted and sealed them according to their resource value.
The whole process ran in perfect order.
While directing her subordinates, Viola asked offhandedly, “What are you planning to do about the Holy Spirit plane cluster?”
Jie Ming did not hesitate. “I’m going back to Noren Workshop to recruit a batch of graduated wizards.”
“I’ve basically cleaned out all the high-level fighting strength on those planes. The work that’s left doesn’t need high-level wizards to handle it personally. The wizards who’ve just finished their graduation trials are fully capable of taking charge.”
Viola thought for a moment and said, “Perfect. When you put out the recruitment order, recruit some for me too. I need quite a few people over here as well.”
Jie Ming glanced at her, then nodded with a smile. “No problem.”
After bidding farewell to Starfall and Wizard Fate, Jie Ming waved to Viola and flew off toward the spatial passage.
He had a great deal to do in the time ahead.
