I Arrived At Wizard World While Cultivating Immortality Chapter 935: Predators
“Insolence!”
Hearing Jie Ming’s declaration, flames erupted all over the fire elemental creature’s body, and its dark red radiance blew a ring of scorching shockwave open in the void.
“A mere lower civilisation, and it dares to run so wild in front of the Seven-Race Alliance!”
Boom!
Over a hundred eighth-level life forms loosed their auras at once.
Seven utterly different energy fluctuations wove together and collided in the void, and the structure of space groaned under their pressure as though it could bear no more.
But in the next second, that aura was driven back by a pressure stronger still.
Four figures stepped slowly out of the spatial fissure behind Jie Ming.
Clark walked at the very front, with Teacher Kastilla at his side, her long dark red hair drifting in the turbulent energy, the smile on her face warm and brilliant.
Wizard Augusta came a little behind them, hands clasped at his back, his expression as kindly as a professor freshly retired.
Viola came out last, her silver-grey hair tied into a ponytail, arms folded across her chest, sizing up the alien formation opposite with open interest.
The auras of three seventh-level wizards surged up together.
There were only three of them, yet before those three forces the auras of over a hundred eighth-level creatures collapsed like a mound of earth washed away by a flood.
The aliens fell back in alarm and doubt, their bodies shuddering violently.
They could not understand what was happening in front of them.
By life level, these four creatures were plainly far below them.
And yet… why should they hold power like this?!
Jie Ming quietly brushed Viola with his mental energy. “Senior Sister, is everything all right on your end?”
“No problem.” Viola’s voice came through the mental link. “Our side is mostly handling the advanced civilisations’ springboard planes; there is no call for a ‘chief commander’ just yet. I heard there was something lively going on over here, so I came to take a look.”
Teacher Kastilla’s voice cut in as well. “Little Jie Ming, you have got seven advanced civilisations right here in one place. Coming straight here to take prisoners is far more convenient than hunting them down one at a time ourselves. Nicely done.”
A group of eighth-level insectoid creatures, their bodies covered all over in dark green carapace, saw them chatting away so utterly without restraint and flew into a rage on the instant.
The insectoid at their head let out a shrill screech, its mouthparts gaping open.
But before the sound could fully leave them, Clark glanced at it.
“Quiet.”
Two perfectly ordinary words, and yet every sound from that swarm of insectoids vanished in the same instant.
Their mouthparts opened and closed in vain; the wings on their backs rubbed together without pause, stirring soundless currents of air.
The muscles at the base of those wings, which served them as vocal organs, were in spasm, and still not a single sound could get out.
The surrounding aliens watched this, and one after another they wore the look of creatures that had seen a ghost.
“What… what kind of civilisation are you?!” A mechanical life form composed entirely of liquid metal put the question in trembling mental fluctuations.
By their algorithms, everything before them was illogical, completely illogical!
Wizard Augusta was as kindly as the old man next door when he faced Jie Ming, but facing these aliens he showed the terrifying side that belonged to a wizard.
He laughed coldly a few times, with no intention whatsoever of answering, and simply reached out a hand, grasping toward one of the races.
The motion looked utterly unremarkable.
But the dozen or so flying creatures he had targeted, their bodies covered all over in lightning patterns, discovered in terror that their bodies were drawing together toward one another beyond their control.
They beat their wings desperately and loosed lightning, trying to shake off that invisible force, but every resistance was in vain.
Their bodies pressed tighter and tighter, shrank smaller and smaller, and were compressed at last into a transparent sphere the size of a fist.
Through the surface of the sphere one could still see the dozen-odd eighth-level creatures struggling uselessly inside.
As the ball dropped into his palm, Wizard Augusta casually tucked the sealing sphere into his sleeve.
Seeing this, the other aliens panicked outright.
Just then several more spatial fissures tore open behind Jie Ming, and more seventh-level wizards walked out of them.
Their appearance made the pressure on the aliens present double in an instant.
A few aliens, overwrought past bearing, attacked first: a huge beast sheathed all over in bone armour charged at Clark, while another creature made of shadow released a sky-blotting flood of black energy at Teacher Kastilla.
Clark raised a hand and drew his index finger lightly through the void.
An unseen line severed the bone-armoured beast in mid-charge, and its body came apart into two neat halves down the middle.
The two halves froze in the void, then were compressed and sealed into a crystal the size of a fingernail.
Teacher Kastilla did not even raise a hand. The black energy, on touching the faint red halo about her, curled back like a tamed beast and wrapped instead around the shadow creature itself, compressing it into a ball wound about with red veins.
Under the dumbfounded stares of Carl and Jack, these hundred-odd eighth-level creatures were sealed away completely after a few casual grabs from the handful of seventh-level wizards.
The whole process had not even lasted half a minute.
Those overweening powerhouses of advanced civilisations were, before the wizards, so many specimens in a laboratory waiting to be labelled.
The remaining aliens tried to flee.
The seventh-level aliens broke first, and the fifth- and sixth-level ones pulled back after them.
Some burrowed back into the spatial passages; others tried to turn invisible and slip away.
But the wizards gave them no chance.
Viola made her move, and the grey-white Law of Pain covered a whole stretch of airspace; dozens of aliens attempting to escape were pinned in mid-air, curling into agonised balls.
Jie Ming’s Black Giant legion and dragonblood mushroom-man legion swung around the flanks and captured the fleeing aliens one by one.
One alien, the fastest runner of them all, rushed back into its own spatial passage, its tentacles beating frantically at the instruments beside it, trying to trigger the passage’s self-destruct sequence.
Once the passage closed, those terrifying creatures would not be able to follow!
It could already see the mouth of the passage contracting, and could not hold back the relieved smile that spread across its face.
Then its smile froze.
Because a hand reached in from the other end of the passage, five fingers spread, and forced the contracting mouth open by main strength.
Wizard Augusta’s figure appeared in the mouth of the passage.
His grey hair did not stir a strand in the turbulent energy inside the passage, and his face at that moment wore a smile of the most “nuclear” kindliness.
When the aliens at the far end of the passage saw his face, they let out screams of utter collapse and attacked him without thinking.
Attacks of every chaotic description landed on Wizard Augusta, and failed even to crease his robe.
He simply bore up under the swarm’s attacks, forcing the spatial passage wider bit by bit, and shoved his body through with an effort.
The other seventh-level wizards followed his example, each picking out a spatial passage, taking control of it, and walking in.
From the far end of every passage came a brief, fierce surge of battle fluctuations, and then quiet.
Before she entered her passage, Teacher Kastilla looked back and waved to Jie Ming. “Little Jie Ming, I owe you a favour.”
The other seventh-level wizards, too, gave Jie Ming a friendly nod before they entered.
Viola watched the seventh-level wizards disappear into the passages and smacked her lips a little enviously.
She knew that with her present strength, facing an advanced civilisation alone was pure suicide, so she had no intention at all of joining in.
She turned to Jie Ming and shrugged. “Next time you have something good like this, remember to call me earlier.”
“Count on it,” Jie Ming said with a smile.
Viola waved to him, turned, and stepped onto the spatial teleport home.
Jie Ming watched her go, then turned his gaze on Carl and Jack.
The two of them were still standing where they were, dumbstruck.
Jie Ming waved a hand in front of their eyes. “All right, snap out of it. It is time we had a look at what good things the human civilisation of the last era left behind.”
