I Arrived At Wizard World While Cultivating Immortality Chapter 889: A Light-Year-Level Wonder
At his first sight of the “Wonder,” Jie Ming even took it by reflex for a star, but he quickly realized he was wrong.
Because it was assuredly no celestial body, but a vast existence formed of high-density chaotic elements forcibly aggregated together.
The chaotic elements inside that sphere were no different from the chaotic elements anywhere else in the endless chaotic void.
The one difference, presumably, was that their density was so extreme that they formed an exceedingly distinct line of demarcation with the environment around them, which was the only reason the thing’s “outline” could be made out at all.
Apart from the extreme density of the elements within it, this thing’s greatest characteristic was simply that it was “big,” big enough that a single glance could not reach its boundary.
Countless chaotic elements, as though under some irresistible attraction, were converging on it from every direction.
And that layer of boundary about the sphere as a whole had no fixed form either; it churned and shifted at every moment.
What was rather singular was that those violent elemental storms, each of them enough to destroy an ordinary plane, would, the moment they entered the sphere, actually slow rapidly down.
The frenzied elements were as if forcibly soothed by some invisible power; even spatial turbulence of the utmost chaos gradually turned sluggish, and in the end broke down into primal wind elements that melted into the sphere.
To look at it, everything drawn inside seemed to sink into some uncanny “inertness.”
Jie Ming’s scalp prickled at the sight. “What in the world is this thing…”
“No idea. For the moment I cannot make out why the elements inside this Wonder are able to hold such a form of existence.” Ed shook his head, his expression grave.
Sometimes it was the things with the gaudiest outward show whose principles were, on the contrary, the easiest to see through.
This Wonder before them looked as though it were nothing more than a high-density convergence of a vast quantity of elements, but precisely because its outward manifestation was so excessively simple, there was no understanding what was happening inside it.
Just then, a violent surge of energy fluctuation came from far off.
An enormous elemental storm was sweeping in from the depths of the void, staggering in scale, dense spatial fissures spread across its surface like a spider’s web.
At the sight of that elemental storm, every one of them present frowned.
Because they could feel clearly that the elemental power contained within that storm far exceeded the limit of what they could control.
An elemental storm on such a scale, once it entered an ordinary plane, would be enough to destroy a whole plane cluster with ease.
Yet the next moment, as it passed alongside the Wonder, the storm seemed to run headlong into an invisible giant hand, and its speed abruptly slackened.
Immediately afterward, the entire elemental storm began drifting uncontrollably toward that vast sphere.
In the end…
Boom!
The whole elemental storm slammed into that layer of chaotic boundary without the slightest resistance.
Jie Ming witnessed a sight that set his scalp prickling.
The terrifying elemental storm, which moments before had been enough to destroy a plane cluster, lost, upon entering the sphere, the very source of power that sustained the chaos within it.
Like a drop of water falling into the deep sea, it vanished utterly, without so much as raising a single splash.
Watching it, Jie Ming fell silent.
And not only he: the expressions of the several seventh-level wizards beside him had visibly changed as well.
Alma, eyes half-lidded, raised a hand and drew her fingertips slowly through the void.
Ring upon ring of Fate Law ripples spread outward. Going by what Jie Ming understood of the Fate Law, she was most likely extrapolating some kind of data that could not be observed directly.
A full several seconds passed before she spoke, low:
“The diameter of this Wonder’s influence… in absolute spatial distance, exceeds one hundred light-years!”
At that, Jie Ming’s breath caught.
One hundred light-years…
Even though he had already become a sixth-level wizard, hearing that figure still sent an instinctive shock through him.
A scale like that was already inconceivably large.
It meant that even if he crossed the interior of that sphere at the speed of light in his Light God Transformation form, it would take him a hundred years!
Granted, put into words, a size like that was nothing much beside certain of the cosmos-type large planes; the trouble was that the cosmic space inside a cosmos-type plane had no such elemental density!
And a continent-type supermassive plane, set before this Wonder, was as insignificant as a mote of dust.
Were it not that the elements in here were all in this chaotic, inert state, an elemental aggregate this enormous ought long since to have formed a supermassive plane of preposterous extent.
Under normal circumstances chaotic elements might show local differences in density, but never a difference of density this widespread and this abnormally pronounced.
And if the elemental density of some region stood out to a marked degree, that meant order had formed there to a certain extent, and it would soon develop into a plane.
Yet this Wonder before them sat squarely in precisely that contradictory state.
“Interesting. I feel no special temporal turbulence around this thing.” Tori, his eyes fixed on the distant sphere, gave a soft whistle.
“Still, it is far too strange. Better not to go near it for the time being.”
Chloe spoke up, her expression exceedingly grave:
“Better not to approach for now. It would be a fine joke if one careless moment got us caught out. Let us stay at the outer edge and take detection readings on every parameter first; we can judge the situation once the basic scan is done.”
As she said it she turned to Jie Ming. “Which makes the analysis of the spatial structure your task. How about it? Can you build a preliminary model?”
Jie Ming glanced at the distant Wonder. From where they now stood they could actually take in the Wonder’s whole outward shape, which said everything about how far they were from that sphere.
To detect spatial data of any real detail at such a distance was indeed a challenging task.
“A little troublesome.” Jie Ming nodded to her. “But I can try.”
“Then I will trouble you with the spatial structure analysis.” Chloe smiled.
The other wizards nodded amiably to Jie Ming as well, then scattered to see to their own investigation tasks.
Was he imagining it?
Had they not become rather more polite than before?
After a few puzzled glances at them, Jie Ming let the matter drop and turned his head back, his gaze locking firmly onto that vast sphere in the distance.
Under the cover of his Law Solidification Domain, a faint golden light welled up across Jie Ming’s puppet body.
That was in fact Jie Ming unfurling a Dharma Form of roughly human height.
Silver light kindled in both his eyes as the True-False Void-Piercing Pupil was driven at full power.
At the same time the golden vertical pupil on the Dharma Form’s brow opened as well, giving off a golden radiance, the sign of the Fate Subsystem running at full output.
Within his body the mirror surface of the Five Aggregates Rainbow Mirror took on a fluorescent glow as well, its spirituality linking to Jie Ming’s mental energy to assist him in his calculations.
Under these layered enhancements, Jie Ming’s field of vision bored bit by bit through that thick chaotic boundary.
A vast flood of data poured into Jie Ming’s consciousness; every kind of spatial fluctuation ceaselessly spilling from that enormous sphere in the distance was intercepted, recorded and analyzed by him.
