I Arrived At Wizard World While Cultivating Immortality Chapter 888: How Is That Not a Genius

The five of them soon arrived at the teleportation zone.

As the teleportation array was activated, a resplendent pillar of spatial light shot up into the heavens.

The next instant, the figures of all five had appeared at the outermost edge of the Noren Workshop’s sphere of influence.

Behind them lay the vast plane cluster of the Noren Workshop, plane after plane set into the endless chaotic void like so many stars, each linked to the others by stable spatial passages.

Before them, on the other hand, there was nothing at all.

Strictly speaking, there were certainly other wizard powers to be found ahead along the Noren Workshop’s route.

But from here until they reached the coordinates where that Wonder lay, there was no longer any spatial teleportation array that could serve them as a stepping-stone.

“From here on, the road is ours to manage on our own.” Chloe looked around at the others beside her. “Let me guide the way in front. It should let us move a little faster.”

The remaining four naturally raised no objection.

After all, the elemental environment analysis Chloe specialized in was indeed extremely well suited to finding a serviceable route forward within the endless chaotic void.

Boom!

Five Law Solidification Domains unfurled almost at the same instant.

Five utterly different law-based powers spread out through the void, each of a different color, interwoven with one another and yet deliberately holding a certain distance.

As the one who had volunteered to probe out the route, Chloe naturally set off ahead of the rest.

Countless elemental feelers as fine as hairs extended from the edge of her Law Solidification Domain, soft tendrils that pierced soundlessly into the chaotic void in front of them.

Every probe brought back a thread of elemental fluctuation.

On the strength of her own understanding of elemental environments, she could tell almost instantly, from these minute differences, which stretch of void ahead was fit to pass through and which region concealed spatial turbulence that would hinder their advance.

The other four followed close behind.

The five Law Solidification Domains gradually formed a subtle wedge-shaped structure, their powers bracing one another while compressing their fluctuations as far as they could, so that the team as a whole carved a brief but stable passage through the chaotic void.

Only once they were actually under way did Jie Ming truly feel the gap between a seventh-level wizard and a sixth-level one.

Though his confidence at both the attacking and the defending end already far surpassed that of most seventh-level wizards, in certain other respects there was indeed still a considerable gap.

Right now, for instance, his own speed of advance counted as top-level among sixth-level wizards, and yet set beside these elite seventh-levels around him it fell far too short!

Jie Ming could feel it clearly: at present the other wizards were entirely accommodating themselves to his speed and were not moving at full power.

A pace like this could not be called slow, but it would certainly cost them time.

“Fortunately…” Jie Ming made a small adjustment to his own state. “I have other means of moving.”

Once he had made his preparations, Jie Ming decisively cast a piece of magic he had not used in a very long time.

Great Void Step!

Being a piece of magic like any other, the Great Void Step was naturally subject to the influence of Jie Ming’s understanding of the various Great Daos.

Which was to say that Jie Ming’s research into the four great elements would strengthen the Great Void Step’s effect as well.

Over these years, he had never truly stopped researching the four fundamental elements.

Now all that accumulation was at last beginning to show its worth.

As the Great Void Step unfolded, the space around Jie Ming rippled gently open like the surface of water.

His figure blurred abruptly, and the next moment he had crossed an enormous distance.

It looked like a spatial jump, and yet its principle was nothing whatsoever like that of a conventional spatial jump.

A normal spatial jump altered one’s own spatial coordinates. But within the endless chaotic void, every person’s spatial coordinates and the spatial coordinates around them were in disorder at every instant.

So unless a permanently fixed spatial teleportation array were erected, pinning two spatial coordinates point to point, spatial teleportation could not under normal circumstances be carried out inside the endless chaotic void at all.

So Jie Ming had opened up another path, making use of the Great Void Step’s property of blending into its surroundings.

Violent as the space within the endless chaotic void was, it still obeyed certain of the most fundamental spatial regularities.

And the Great Void Step, once it had merged into the surrounding environment, could draw upon precisely those regularities.

Put simply, Jie Ming had only to find a suitable patch of distorted space and let the distortion of that space itself carry him in the direction he wished to go.

Having completed one spatial jump by way of a single patch of distorted space, Jie Ming showed not the least intention of pausing and went on casting the Great Void Step.

His figure flickered ceaselessly through the void, each transition no more than a short hop, and yet by casting continuously at high frequency he swiftly caught up with the team.

The others watched Jie Ming come up on them so quickly and exchanged a glance, each able to read astonishment in the eyes of the rest.

They had of course understood what Jie Ming was doing; the trouble was that understanding it did not mean one could do it.

The principle behind his maneuver sounded simple, and every one of them present could indeed have used that principle to carry themselves through a single short-range spatial jump.

But the crux of it was that Jie Ming’s maneuver was being performed continuously.

To make one’s preparations, pick out the distorted space one needed and make a single short-range spatial jump, as against making spatial jump after spatial jump while traveling at speed, were difficulties not remotely of the same order!

At any rate, not one of the four present had the confidence to manage it.

“Such powers of observation where space is concerned? He is worthy of being the genius those three praised so highly…”

“I admit that I rather underestimated him at first.”

“Then it seems we need not worry about his falling behind.”

The four exchanged a glance, passed the message between them by mental energy, and quickened their pace in unison without hesitation.

Seeing it, Jie Ming silently quickened the rate at which he cast the Great Void Step.

Before long, the elite seventh-level wizards had reached their normal top speed.

Seeing that Jie Ming could still keep up, the other wizards could not help their eyes lighting up; they glanced at one another, their mental exchange full of admiration.

That flight lasted close to five months.

Within the endless chaotic void there was no day and no night, no stars, nothing whatsoever that could serve as a point of reference.

Even a plane, once the distance grew great enough, dwindled into a single point of light and melted into the already distorted background color of the endless chaotic void.

The one thing the rest of them could trust was Chloe, leading the way ahead.

Then at last, at a certain moment, Chloe slowed abruptly up in front, her law domain contracting slowly as well.

At the sight, the eyes of the others lit up; they understood that they were nearly at their destination.

Finally, after skirting a spatial storm, she came to a halt. “We are here.”

The other four stopped at the same moment.

Jie Ming had only just crossed the spatial storm. He put the Great Void Step away and steadied himself.

Then he heard Chloe’s words, and raised his head by reflex.

The next moment, his pupils contracted sharply.

Now that the obstruction of the spatial storm lay behind them, they could at last see, far off in the distance ahead, a sphere so vast that no ordinary scale could measure it, “floating” there within the endless chaotic void!
