I Arrived At Wizard World While Cultivating Immortality Chapter 871: Rendezvous

With the behemoth finished off, Jie Ming did not immediately withdraw the Light God Transformation.

The white giant of light still stood towering amid the torn and shattered chaotic space.

Across that vast body two hundred and fifty thousand kilometers tall, the radiance that stood for finality flowed ceaselessly over its surface, spreading in every direction like a blazing corona.

The reason he had not put his combat state away was, naturally, that Jie Ming intended to go and reinforce the other wizards.

He had no idea what the consequences would be if the other wizards lost, but they certainly would not be anything good.

Before going to their aid, though, Jie Ming still had another important question to weigh:

“The spatial fold beast’s ability is a reflection of thought…”

Which was why, though there had plainly been only one spatial fold beast a moment ago, every one of them had run into one of their own once the fighting began.

So the question became this: if he now barged rashly into someone else’s independent battlefield, what would happen?

Would the intrusion of his own thoughts produce a fresh reflection all over again?

Either was possible: that the spatial fold beast’s strength would become the two of them stacked together, or that it would simply split off a new spatial fold beast aimed at him.

If that was how it worked, then going over would not only fail to help; it would make fresh trouble for the other person instead.

“Looks like I’ll have to try it out first.” Jie Ming frowned slightly.

He had already begun to consider whether he ought to find a sixth-level wizard of the Scarlet Hive to serve as his test subject.

These wizards were not strong enough to matter, after all; if something did go wrong he could cover for them, and even if he could not, the one who suffered for it would not be one of his own people.

While Jie Ming was still thinking, a faint tremor suddenly came from the space ahead of him.

Riiip…

A spatial rift tore open out of nothing, and two figures came striding out of it.

The wizard in front had long silver-gray hair and a deep blue robe: Viola.

Viola looked somewhat the worse for wear at the moment, her long hair in disarray, several ash-gray streaks still lingering on the cuffs of her robe.

Yet the expression on her face was as excited as if she had just finished an exceedingly interesting experiment.

Behind her followed another person, a sixth-level wizard of the Scarlet Hive.

This Scarlet Hive wizard, however, was in a far more wretched state.

If Viola was merely the worse for wear, then he counted as gravely wounded!

His face was a mass of bruises, his robe in tatters, one whole side of his body caved in, his skin covered all over with the scars left by tearing, his aura so weak he looked ready to fall over at any moment.

Jie Ming gave the wizard a glance, then turned his gaze to Viola.

The moment Viola came through she raised a hand to shade her forehead and squinted upward. “It’s way too bright over here! And you’re way too tall!”

Jie Ming was silent a moment, then quietly dimmed his brightness and compressed the Dharma Form until it reached a height at which the two of them could hold a normal conversation.

Feeling the light fade, Viola looked around her with satisfaction, undisguised admiration in her voice:

“Good grief, I didn’t expect you’d have settled it already. Judging by your power, I thought you’d still be fighting a good while yet.”

“Mm.” Jie Ming lowered his head to look down at her, his voice issuing from within the Dharma Form. “You weren’t slow yourself, Senior Sister. I thought I’d settled mine fast enough, and it turns out you were faster than me.”

“Naturally!” Viola tilted her chin up smugly. “I am your Senior Sister, after all!”

Jie Ming had nothing to say against that; Viola’s way of fighting really was extremely well suited to a situation like this.

Viola, after all, could draw power from pain itself. So long as she was not killed outright in an instant, the more pain she endured, the more outrageous the power she gained.

If it came to a real comparison of the ability to keep breaking through one’s own limits and the rate of growth in a drawn-out fight, then under the right conditions Viola was even faster than he was.

After preening for a while, Viola waved a hand, plainly not intending to keep chatting: “All right, save the praise for next time. Business first.”

She turned aside and pointed at the Scarlet Hive wizard behind her. “I’ve already tested out some of the spatial fold beast’s properties. There’s a way now to take part in someone else’s fight without producing a new effect.”

“What?”

Jie Ming’s interest was caught at once.

“As long as you wrap the remains of a spatial fold beast around yourself, no new fold beast will be generated when you go to support someone else. The method works quite well. I’ve verified it.”

Jie Ming glanced instinctively at the wizard with the battered face, whose complexion abruptly went very pale; he had evidently remembered something.

Seeing that, Jie Ming decided not to ask Viola exactly how she had verified it.

As for the remains of a spatial fold beast, that was easy enough to understand.

The spatial fold beast was a special form of life, composed entirely of spatial fluctuations.

So when such a creature died it left no material fragments of limb or body behind, but rather a set of exceedingly peculiar spatial fluctuation parameters, a signature unique to the spatial fold beast itself.

Put plainly, Viola’s method involved no great technical sophistication; in essence it worked on the same principle as weaving oneself a ghillie suit out of plants to hide in a forest.

The spatial fold beast’s perceptual system was presumably rather unlike that of ordinary creatures, so simply distributing that spatial signature over one’s whole body was enough to interfere with its judgment.

“Interesting.”

Jie Ming promptly activated the All-Purpose Eye and scanned the information around him.

Countless streams of data unfurled madly across his vision, ring after ring of distinctive spatial ripples forcibly extracted, then swiftly taken apart and sorted by Jie Ming.

This region had been full of complex, shifting spatial fluctuations to begin with, but fortunately Jie Ming had actually fought a spatial fold beast, and it took him only a dozen or so minutes to find the data he wanted.

“Found it.”

His mental energy swiftly arranged the space outside him according to the spatial parameters he had located, and soon a layer of spatial fluctuation, all but invisible to the naked eye, spread slowly out from Jie Ming’s surface.

Viola gave it a brief inspection and nodded. “No problem. That much is about right.”

“Then let’s hurry up and go help.”

Jie Ming looked toward the void not far off, where a great many forcibly severed fragments of space were still scattered throughout, each fragment holding an isolated little battlefield of its own.

“Which side are you going to first?” Viola folded her arms and picked over the several fragments of space in front of her.

Jie Ming’s answer was decisive. “Rule out Mentor’s battlefield outright. There’d be no point in us going in there now.”

At Clark’s level of combat power, a battlefield that required him to fight with everything he had was simply not one they could involve themselves in.

If they barged in rashly, the likeliest outcome was not that they would help, but that the spatial fold beast on the other side would take them for a bug at the roadside and crush them in passing.
