I Arrived At Wizard World While Cultivating Immortality Chapter 842: Setting Out

Several years slipped by in a flash.

Within the Infernal Sulfur Plane, the automated factories still ran day and night without pause.

Countless alchemical puppets moved among the factories, sending a steady stream of freshly finished Talisman-Rune Artifacts deep into the warehouses.

At the center of the laboratory, Jie Ming slowly set down the last experimental report in his hand, glanced at the date ticking over on the magic network, and let out a light breath.

“It is time.”

He shut down every automated test program in the laboratory, then reached out and tapped.

The magical network terminal immediately produced a set of steadily blinking spatial coordinates: the rendezvous point Augusta had sent several days earlier.

Jie Ming raised a hand to seal the laboratory completely, confirmed that the automated factories, the Incense Fire Divine Dao altar and the various research facilities inside his inner world had all entered autonomous operation, and then stepped into the spatial teleportation array.

Out in the void, as a silver-white pillar of light gradually dispersed, Jie Ming’s figure appeared inside an enormous void warship.

The whole warship was deep black, its hull a good several hundred kilometers long, its surface covered in heavy rune armor.

Around the bridge, main guns stood quietly folded away.

Spatial anchors held the whole warship firmly fixed, so that it lay at anchor in the Endless Chaotic Void without stirring an inch.

Jie Ming had barely stepped off the teleportation array when a familiar voice came from beside him. “You are here.”

Augusta stood at the front of the bridge, her silver-white robe as spotless as ever.

Seeing Jie Ming, she nodded slightly:

“Your timing is good. I was about to brief these little ones on the intelligence.”

“Then it seems my luck is in.” Jie Ming answered with a smile.

As he spoke, his gaze swept across the bridge.

Besides Augusta, more than a dozen young wizards stood in a row before her.

None of these wizards were of high level, generally fourth to fifth, and several were even third.

Judging by the Augusta family crests embroidered on their robes, these were plainly Augusta family members along for the campaign as seasoning.

Seeing Jie Ming appear, their gazes all turned toward him too, a good many carrying an undisguisable curiosity.

After all, the name Jie Ming had over recent years become a thunderclap in the ear throughout wizard civilization.

The Blood Sacrifice Method, the Life Homeostasis Field, and the assessments of three spatial-studies great figures at the academic exchange conference… any one of these alone would have been enough to make a sixth-level wizard’s name known far and wide.

Still more so with all of them concentrated in one person.

Augusta raised a hand and introduced him simply:

“This is Jie Ming, the other leader of this operation. You should all know his situation, so I need not introduce him in detail.”

At that, everyone bowed slightly:

“Greetings, Wizard Jie Ming.”

“Hello to you all.”

Jie Ming nodded in reply, sweeping over them rapidly with his mental energy at the same time.

A moment later, a trace of satisfaction flashed in his eyes.

Not bad!

The quality of this batch of wizards was very high!

Their levels might not be high, but the overall quality was quite outstanding.

Six of them especially had mental energy fluctuations plainly more condensed than others of their level; they should be elite combat units.

Evidently this batch of wizards were the new stars the Augusta family had cultivated over the past several centuries.

“Still… for them to be willing to let these people go with me into a plane war, the Augusta family must trust my combat power considerably.” Jie Ming considered that thoughtfully.

Thinking along those lines, Jie Ming soon noticed something else.

Solid and steady as these people’s mental energy fluctuations were, they all lacked a certain edge.

Plainly this batch of wizards were basically of logistics background.

At that thought, Jie Ming could not help a private sigh.

Among combat wizards, geniuses who could genuinely grow up were, as ever, far too few.

After all, even a logistics wizard of somewhat weaker talent still had countless chances to grow slowly.

Combat wizards were different.

A great many seedlings of outstanding talent had died in one plane war after another before they could truly grow.

Those who could genuinely fight their way through to the high levels were, every one of them, figures who had waded out of a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood.

On the other side, having introduced Jie Ming briefly, Augusta waved a hand lightly, and a vast three-dimensional light screen at once rose at the center of the bridge.

On the screen, an earth-yellow plane surfaced slowly, its whole surface covered in a dense layer of elemental cloud.

Through the screen’s projection one could see that across this plane’s land there was very nearly no ocean to be found.

In their place were rolling ranges of rock, and a boundless fungal mat spread out like a gray-yellow sea.

Augusta stood before the screen, her tone back to its usual coolness.

“According to the intelligence brought back by the family’s reconnaissance wizards, the detailed information on the target plane has basically been confirmed.”

She reached out and tapped, and the image of the plane magnified steadily as countless dense points of light began surfacing one after another.

“The main body of this civilization is a distinctive life form, half rock element and half life.”

As the image drew closer still, a group of strange-looking intelligent creatures appeared before everyone.

They were gray-brown overall, their bodies as though carved from stone, their surfaces covered in coarse mineral texture.

But on top of those bodies, hard as rock, the head grew like an enormous mushroom.

These creatures’ limbs were short but thick, and one look told you they held considerable strength.

“They possess the properties of both organisms and elemental life. Because of their appearance, the family has provisionally named them mushroom-men,” Augusta went on.

“According to detailed reconnaissance, the enemy’s principal high-end combat power has so far been confirmed at five to seven seventh-level creatures. Beyond that, the number of sixth-level units is estimated at over a hundred.”

“But none of that is especially troublesome. The most troublesome thing about this plane is the low-level creatures below the sixth level. Because the elements are extremely active, adult mushroom-men generally possess second- to third-level combat power, and elite units among them can rise to fourth or fifth.”

Augusta paused briefly, then turned to look at the wizards before her:

“The key point is that these creatures are outrageously numerous. There is no detailed data, but by calculation the number of elite units in this plane below the fifth level and above the fourth is… over a billion!”

On hearing a figure that could fairly be called outrageous, a good many of the young wizards changed color slightly.

They had met opponents of outrageous numbers on plane battlefields before, but the thing was that those had been the combat strength of a whole race added together.

And now, the elite units alone came to over a billion!
