The most important flaw, though, was that this fellow could actually know his location.
“Where did you get the information?” Jie Ming asked straight out, quite bluntly.
Hogg answered with equal frankness. “I cannot say. Professional ethics, after all.”
The corner of Jie Ming’s mouth could not help twitching.
Professional ethics… did a robber trouble himself with that?
Composed as Hogg appeared, Jie Ming had not relaxed his guard by half a measure from beginning to end, and had not believed a single thing the man said.
Because Jie Ming faintly suspected that this fellow’s talk of robbery was only an excuse picked up offhand, and that his real aim might well not be so simple.
Seeing Jie Ming slow to answer, Hogg was in no hurry either, and instead urged him patiently:
“Wizard Jie Ming, I would actually advise you to give this careful thought. After all, I only want money. Give me some resources and I will leave at once; it saves us both trouble. Why make it unpleasant? What do you say?”
“I say no.” Jie Ming shook his head in refusal. “I am not in the habit of handing over my own resources.”
Hogg sighed lightly, his expression carrying a note of having expected it. “Ah, just so. I knew that was how it would go.”
As he spoke he rolled his shoulders, as though stretching.
Crack, crack…
Amid a sound like bones roaring, Hogg’s body began to swell wildly.
In no more than the blink of an eye, a giant tens of thousands of meters tall stood towering between heaven and earth.
At the same time a seventh-level Law Solidification Domain unfolded with a roar, and space for several million kilometers around trembled with it.
Violent pressure in the extreme swept over everything like a towering tsunami.
Jie Ming’s expression sank, and without the slightest hesitation he unfolded his own combat posture.
Boom!
A two-hundred-and-fifty-thousand-kilometer Dharma Form descended abruptly, the vast dark golden figure as though torn out of the void.
Right after that a radiance dazzling in the extreme shot into the sky, and the whole Dharma Form rapidly became a blaze of streaming light.
Dharma Form plus Light God Transformation!
Terrible energy erupted abruptly like a red star, dispersing in an instant a great swath of the low, dull cloud layer.
Hogg’s eyes lit up abruptly, and he could not help a sincere exclamation. “Well now! To hold power on this scale at the sixth level, you are worthy of the name of genius after all!”
The words were not finished before he had stepped forward!
Smaller in build though he was, the giant tens of thousands of meters tall attacked without hesitation.
His Law Solidification Domain wound about his body, and his fist came smashing in carrying terrible pressure!
At the same time, Jie Ming did not hesitate either, directing the Dharma Form to stride out and meet it with a fist of his own.
Neither side used any showy technique; the two colossi crashed head-on into one another like two stars falling at speed!
Boom!!
A deafening roar rang through the whole void, and a terrible shockwave swept a million miles.
The plane fragment serving as their battlefield was shaken apart on the spot, countless peaks thrust up out of the ground and were then reduced by the violent elemental storm to broken stone whirling across the sky!
Before the aftershock could disperse, the two terrible forces collided again in the void.
Rumble, rumble, rumble…
The deafening roar swept in every direction.
The gray-black void around them, already covered in cracks from that first exchange, was like a mirror struck hard with a hammer.
Sheets of spatial creases spread wildly outward, spatial fissures tens of thousands of kilometers long crisscrossing one another, countless spatial fragments swept up by the elemental storm to congeal into a turbulence carrying the aura of destruction through the Endless Chaotic Void.
Jie Ming’s Dharma Form stood between heaven and earth, radiance flowing about it without pause, like a great sun shining across the void.
As fist after fist swung out, divine light erupted with a roar, and wherever the fists passed, the void itself was scorched with brilliant trails of light.
On the other side, the tens-of-thousands-of-meters giant Hogg had become gave no ground either. His body was covered in dark red, vicious musculature, the surface of his skin spread all over with black tracery in constant motion.
With every movement, great quantities of runes gushed out from deep within his flesh, surging like living things.
Feeling the terrible force coming through the fists of the giant of light opposite, and his own body driven wildly backward, he abruptly drew in a deep breath of the elemental storm and stamped hard underfoot again!
Bang!
A great swath of space burst apart at the sound, and that vast body was already before the chest of Jie Ming’s Dharma Form in the blink of an eye, at an unbelievable speed.
“Boy! Let me see whether you, this genius, are actually worth that many resources!”
The words were not out before a fist came smashing in!
Pure force mixed with elements condensed into a blood-colored fist print, and along its path all the space it passed was compressed by force.
Jie Ming’s gaze was calm as still water, the Dharma Form’s just-shattered fist healed in a blink, and he swung a fist to meet it likewise.
Boom!!
The two fists, so utterly disproportionate in size, struck head-on again.
The next instant the whole plane fragment shook violently, and the shockwave became a ring-shaped storm that swept in every direction.
The smile on Hogg’s face suddenly froze, because in that exchange… he had not come off the better by half a measure!
“How is that possible?!”
Feeling his own arm still faintly numb, his pupils contracted abruptly.
Although less than half a second had passed since the fight began, the two had already exchanged blows countless times.
Fighting to this point, he had already put out all his strength, but… the fellow before him was actually still increasing his?!
He might only have been newly promoted, but he was a seventh-level wizard in the end, and the opponent before him was a mere sixth-level!

Although every collision drove that vast body backward despite him, with great sheets of space collapsing and elemental turbulence bursting one after another.
Even so, Hogg’s body remained tough, and took no great damage.
Even so, the longer Hogg fought the colder his heart grew.
He had assumed this matter would be easily in hand, but the facts proved that the sixth-level wizard before him was worthy of the genius they praised!
Strength, speed, defense… this fellow had very nearly no weakness at all.
Above all that recovery ability, terrible to the point of being outright cheating.
His attack had plainly torn a gash several thousand kilometers long across the man a moment ago, and yet in a blink a gray-white aura flashed past and that gash healed as good as new, as though time had run backward!
“Damn it! Is this fellow really a sixth-level wizard?!”
Hogg cursed under his breath, his eyes full of horror.
He thought back to his own performance at the sixth level; even nearing promotion he had surely not been this outrageous!
Suddenly Hogg stopped trading blows head-on and struck at the void with both hands at once.
Hmmm…
As the runes across his body vibrated violently, countless masses of dark red flesh swelled madly out from inside him.
In the blink of an eye, several million thick muscular tendrils burst out of his body, each one wound about with condensed elemental force.
These flesh tendrils were like a forest of flesh blotting out the sky, and swallowed the whole battlefield in an instant.
Watching the forest of flesh surging toward him, Jie Ming’s gaze tightened slightly, and the Dharma Form pressed its palms together.
Under Jie Ming’s control the dazzling radiance abruptly contracted, and a giant sword of light tens of thousands of kilometers long slowly took shape in the Dharma Form’s palms.
Cut!
Shhk!!
That one cut had no showy technique to it at all, only the purest destructive force taken to its extreme.
Wherever the light passed, the whole forest of flesh was split in two in an instant, several million tendrils severed at once and falling like a curtain of rain with its threads cut.
Seeing so outrageous a sight, Hogg’s expression changed drastically and he instinctively meant to withdraw.
But before he could pull back, Jie Ming had already closed on him again.
One fist!
Boom!!
A great swath of flesh burst open across Hogg’s chest, and the vast body flew violently backward like a shell out of a barrel.
The ground, which ought to have been solid, was instead like the surface of water; apart from raising wave after wave of earth, it did very nearly nothing to stop him.
At last, on the verge of punching clean through this continent, Hogg barely managed to stop himself by his own strength.
Rumble!
Broken stone flew everywhere, blotting out half the sky.
Hogg struggled up out of the rubble, the wound in his chest healing wildly.
But his expression had turned extraordinarily ugly.
Because he suddenly discovered that the young wizard before him was rapidly adapting to his power.
At the start his attacks had been able to shatter most of the giant of light’s body with ease, but the counterattack he had just made as he was knocked flying could leave only a web of cracks across the man’s chest.
“No good. This cannot be dragged out…”
A trace of savagery flashed at the bottom of Hogg’s eyes. The muscles across his whole body swelled madly, countless black tracings lit up at once, and his aura surged again.
Plainly he was preparing to stake everything.
Jie Ming showed no intention of yielding either, and behind the Dharma Form a blazing halo rose slowly.
Both sides charged at one another at once.
Boom!!
The two figures crashed viciously together again.
The storm swept a million miles, space collapsing continuously and being continuously repaired again.
The great battle had entered its most brutal stage.
Hogg coughed blood without pause, and damage of every kind kept appearing across Jie Ming’s Dharma Form as well.
Yet the Ash Return to Origin Hand triggered again and again, and the shattered Dharma Form was restored as good as new time after time.
But Hogg, opposite Jie Ming, had no such ability.
As time wore on bit by bit, the scales of victory began gradually to tip.

Jie Ming seized a gap in one of Hogg’s defenses, and the Dharma Form’s fists came smashing out together.
One fist shattered the shield; one fist ran straight through his chest.

Hogg sprayed out a great mouthful of blood, the vast giant’s body staggering steadily backward, the tracery across it snapping one line after another.
The man had already lost the ability to go on fighting entirely.
