I Arrived At Wizard World While Cultivating Immortality Chapter 825: An Idea

“This technique… did you complete it independently?”

Bastian was silent for a moment before finally speaking.

Jie Ming’s heart tightened slightly, and then eased again.

How to put it?

Fortunately, the people before him were all genuine top-level geniuses, and so had the mental habits of geniuses.

Had he run into someone of more ordinary standard, they would have wondered outright where this technique had come from, and might instead have stumbled by accident onto the true origin of the Mustard Seed Dao-Holding True Body Art.

But precisely because they were all geniuses, they had the confidence of geniuses.

So on first seeing an unknown technique, geniuses instinctively assumed the man across from them had developed it.

Then again, Jie Ming felt somewhat awkward. He could hardly tell the three of them that this was a cultivation system from another world.

So he could only smile. “No. I had a great deal of help from many people as well. But this technique is still nowhere near perfected; there are quite a few problems with it, in fact.”

On hearing that, however, not the slightest disappointment showed on the three eighth-level wizards’ faces. If anything their expressions turned more appreciative.

Savien set down his teacup and said with a smile, “That is no problem. All sorts of accidents arising from an imperfect technique are simply a wizard’s daily life. My own spatial folding theory, back in the day, blew up six laboratories before it succeeded.”

Morna nodded in agreement as well. “The imperfection of an initial technique does not matter. What genuinely matters is whether the technique can keep going forward.”

“To be able to open up a new road in the spatial field, however imperfect it still is, already exceeds the height the overwhelming majority of wizards can reach in a lifetime.” Bastian went so far as to clap Jie Ming on the shoulder with a smile.

“Boy, do not belittle yourself. Anyone at all can study a mature technique, but there is only ever one man who creates it, the first.”

Savien too looked at Jie Ming in earnest. “Spatial studies have developed to a point where there are fewer and fewer directions left to explore, and a great many so-called new results are nothing but a few modified formulas added on top of old theory. But you are different…”

Savien looked at Jie Ming, his tone serious.

“This technique you are displaying now is opening up a new road afresh.”

As those words fell, the hearts of the several high-level wizards who had been quietly watching from nearby jolted at once!

Opening up a new road.

An assessment like that could no longer count as praise. It was the assessment of a master qualified in future to found his own school!

They sized Jie Ming up covertly, and began working out ceaselessly in their own minds how best to build a relationship with this young wizard.

Among these people, though, one eighth-level wizard’s expression turned somewhat ugly for a moment.

He thought it over carefully, and in the end his eyes took on the look of a man who had made up his mind.

Elsewhere, listening to the three great figures before him praise him, Jie Ming felt somewhat abashed. He had not expected Savien and the others to rate him so highly; Jie Ming even felt it was rather too high.

But judging from Bastian’s and Morna’s expressions, they agreed with Savien’s words entirely.

That made Jie Ming realize he seemed to have underestimated the Mustard Seed Dao-Holding True Body Art… or rather, underestimated the gold content of “immortal arts.”

And then Jie Ming felt more awkward still, because this thing truly had not been developed by him. He counted only as a student of it, and a poorly schooled one at that!

At this moment Jie Ming was even somewhat grateful that his grasp of the Mustard Seed Dao-Holding True Body Art was imperfect and that he had not yet completed the final step.

Because he was using a puppet, the emotions of his true body did not show on it, so Jie Ming’s present awkwardness would not be revealed either.

Elsewhere… Savien and the other two were seriously considering whether there was a suitable junior in their own families to introduce to this young fellow.

Not that they would go so far as to insist on marriage…

After all, at the level of talent the man had displayed, however low his level might be now, barring accidents he would certainly become a senior eighth-level wizard in future.

At that level, the juniors of their families would hardly be qualified to marry him.

But… even if marriage was out of the question, might they at least borrow his seed?

The group was silent for a moment, and then Bastian suddenly smiled and broke the silence:

“Speaking of which, since you can open up a new road, surely what you are preparing to submit at this exchange conference is not this technique?”

Under normal circumstances, papers or techniques for an academic exchange conference were reviewed in advance, but as an extra invitee Jie Ming naturally did not have to submit for review beforehand.

When it came to the presentation, though, he would certainly still have to produce something able to hold the room.

Morna beside him shook her head and rejected that view:

“Impossible. Never mind that this technique is not yet fully perfected, nobody makes a trump card of that order public lightly. My guess is that it will still be the Self-Stabilizing Field Regulation Protocol you two have been perfecting together lately.”

“At this old thing Savien’s level, he should have worked out quite a few new variants of the technique over this period, and with a few new applied results on top, that is enough to hold the room.”

Jie Ming drew his attention back and listened to the two of them, then set his teacup down lightly:

“Lady Morna is right; it does concern the Self-Stabilizing Field Regulation Protocol. But…”

The three of them turned their gazes on him again.

“But… what I want to present is not a variant of the Self-Stabilizing Field Regulation Protocol, nor an applied result. It is its next stage.”

“More precisely, it is the advanced technique of the Self-Stabilizing Field Regulation Protocol.”

At those words, Bastian raised an eyebrow, and the teacup Savien had already lifted came slowly back down to the table.

He watched Jie Ming quietly, the anticipation at the bottom of his eyes now stronger than before.

All three understood perfectly well the difference between the two.

A variant means adding functions on top of an existing framework.

An advance means the whole technical system has completed a leap!

They had assumed that this young man producing a spatial overlap technique capable of opening a new branch was already outrageous enough.

And now he was telling them that even the Self-Stabilizing Field Regulation Protocol, which Savien himself could not praise enough, could go on improving in his hands.

At this moment, the three of them very nearly had the feeling of witnessing history.

They could not shake the sense that what they were seeing now was only the tip of the iceberg showing above this young wizard’s hand.

Bastian was silent for a long while, and at last slowly let out a breath and looked at Jie Ming in earnest:

“Honestly, I am beginning to look forward to this academic exchange conference.”

Morna covered her mouth and laughed softly. “I am rather looking forward to it too. It seems the greatest surprise of this academic exchange conference may well not come from us old things.”

Savien, for his part, made no attempt to hide the laughter in his eyes. “I cannot wait to see the faces those old fellows on the review committee will be making when the time comes.”
