I Arrived At Wizard World While Cultivating Immortality Chapter 817: Evolution

~5 minute read · 1,364 words

Most unluckily, the place he currently occupied was the Endless Chaotic Void, and specifically the Broken Bone Corridor, which was abnormally chaotic even by the standards of the Endless Chaotic Void.

Across the stretch he had crossed, countless spatial fluctuations combined with chaotic elements and finally erupted all at once inside the inner world within him.

That Jie Ming’s inner world had not simply collapsed on the spot was already the result of his true body’s resistance being high enough and the arrays inside the inner world being solid enough.

Feeling the inner world healing rapidly, thanks to sharing his true body’s properties, Jie Ming already had gray-white light surfacing slowly in his palm.

He had only to cast the Ash Return to Origin Hand and every bit of this damage would be restored to its original state.

But in the end Jie Ming dispersed that power.

“Now is not the time.”

Restoring those mountains, rivers and seas would be simple enough, but repairing those automated factories was rather too difficult.

The difficulty of casting the Ash Return to Origin Hand climbs sharply with the complexity of the target.

Inside an automated factory there were countless alchemical arrays, rune circuits, precision mechanical structures and elemental energy compositions, all of which had to be traced back precisely, and the difficulty would rise substantially.

Jie Ming estimated that with his computing power it would take several minutes to finish tracing all of it back.

That was not actually a long time, but if he had to do this every single time, the time it added up to would not be small.

And what he needed most right now was to travel fast.

By comparison, losing a few factories for the moment counted for nothing at all.

On the other hand, and more importantly… his Body Forging Method needed this destruction!

If all the damage were immediately reset by the Ash Return to Origin Hand, then the Body Forging Method would never truly adapt to spatial storms.

At that thought, Jie Ming mobilized every defensive array inside the inner world, and great quantities of power began converging on the central region, concentrated chiefly on the Incense Fire Divine Dao forum, the core laboratories and the important specimen vaults.

As for the rest, it would simply have to be given up for now.

These preparations made, Jie Ming did not hesitate to trigger a coordinate reset once more.

Boom!!!

With the second coordinate reset complete, the spatial storm that erupted inside the inner world was more violent than the first, forming outright a storm of destruction that swept tens of thousands of kilometers through the inner world.

Feeling the stabbing pain that came through his body, Jie Ming pushed his true body to heal the injuries quickly, then went on changing coordinates.

Every alteration of his own coordinates was like tearing open a fresh wound by force.

Spatial storms poured continuously into the inner world, and the whole continent came to the brink of destruction again and again.

Yet as the count rose, Jie Ming gradually noticed a change.

A spatial storm of the same scale had been able to rip apart ten thousand miles of mountain and river the first time; later it could only destroy a range of a few thousand miles.

And later still, it could do no more than open a single crack in the ground.

That was the Body Forging Method running wild: his inner world and his true body were rapidly adapting to the power of spatial storms.

Nor was that all. The Internal Circulation, which had never made much of a stir, was also accelerating madly, restructuring the spatial architecture without pause.

The whole world seemed to have come alive, transforming steadily through destruction after destruction.

Every collapse left it tougher than before.

By way of this method of movement, far faster than light, Jie Ming crossed the whole of the Broken Bone Corridor in less than a day.

Having reached the designated region, however, he did not show himself right away, but instead fell back some distance and pushed deliberately into an area where the spatial turbulence was at its most violent.

Then Jie Ming withdrew his outer puppet into the inner world, concealing his information entirely.

Relying on the violent spatial fluctuations outside, even an eighth-level power would have great difficulty locking precisely onto his existence through elemental turbulence and space that disordered, unless it were searching for him deliberately.

Only once he had confirmed he was safe did Jie Ming turn his attention to the inner world within him.

What met his eye was a scene of doomsday. Apart from the tightly protected incense altar and core experimental zone, which remained intact, very nearly every other area had been reduced to ruins.

The whole inner world could fairly be called shattered: the land was split, and spatial fissures that had not yet healed drifted everywhere in the air, as though the entire inner world might collapse completely in the next moment.

To Jie Ming’s perception, though, this world that looked to be on the brink of destruction felt more stable than it had before.

Elemental turbulence and spatial distortion still raged there unabated, and yet they could no longer easily tear the world apart.

The whole inner world was like a piece of divine iron that had been through countless hammerings: covered in scars, and yet grown indestructible.

At the sight, a satisfied look showed in Jie Ming’s eyes.

He could feel clearly that his own true body had been substantially strengthened as well.

“A pity…”

He sighed despite himself, stirring up a fresh spatial turbulence inside the inner world.

Jie Ming slowly cast the Ash Return to Origin Hand, and gray-white radiance spread out like a tide.

Hmmm…

And so time throughout the whole inner world began to run backward.

The shattered land gathered itself together again, sundered mountain ranges rejoined, and overturned rivers flowed back upstream.

Building wreckage scattered across the sky flew back into place, and countless pieces of precision alchemical equipment returned to their positions of their own accord.

In a very short while, as the runes of the arrays lit up once more, the whole inner world was restored to how it had first been.

Jie Ming frowned faintly, though, silently sensing the changes in the inner world.

But a moment later that frown eased again.

He had expected that after restoring things with the Ash Return to Origin Hand, since it was time running backward, the resistance his true body and inner world had trained up would certainly have fallen off somewhat.

The fact, however, was that while the inner world’s spatial stability had indeed dropped a little, the earlier improvement had not entirely disappeared.

Likewise, the resistance to spatial turbulence his own main body had evolved through the Body Forging Method had not entirely disappeared either; a small portion of it remained.

That meant his Body Forging Method had begun to adapt to the very effect of the Ash Return to Origin Hand.

And that it could already distinguish which effects were positive and which negative, and selectively preserve accordingly.

This being so, as long as he went on cultivating, the proportion preserved would only keep rising.

One day he would be able to trace every injury back and lose not the slightest scrap of the evolution!

…

…

Very nearly another day passed, and Jie Ming’s puppet reappeared in the outside world.

“Going by the timing… that should be about right. A conventional sixth-level wizard ought to be able to reach here in this much time.”

Jie Ming worked the puppet’s hands and feet, and then a broad gray-black robe drifted down and covered the whole body completely, leaving only half of a calm face showing.

This was the most common attire in the Endless Chaotic Void.

Great numbers of wizards traveled between the junction points here every day, and nobody was willing to expose their identity lightly.

All this done, Jie Ming left his hiding place at last and flew off in the direction of the junction point.
