I Arrived At Wizard World While Cultivating Immortality Chapter 792: The Void Ash Return to Origin Hand
Having arranged the task of receiving the supplies, Jie Ming leaned back in his chair.
The money problem was solved, and every material had been ordered.
All that remained was waiting for the strategic warehouses across the region to deliver in batches.
For a moment, Jie Ming found that he was, unusually, at leisure.
Of course, that “leisure” was only relative to the state he had been in, where he had wanted to split every day into forty-eight hours.
His fixed daily study and research still went on, Solar True Fire body tempering remained absolutely unbroken, and he still set aside a little time each day to work on the third step of the Mustard Seed Dao-Holding True Body Art, Reflected Projection.
It was only that, compared with the stretch of days when most of his energy had been pressed into the Blood Sacrifice Method, his schedule had finally opened up a small gap. Looking at his own timetable, Jie Ming suddenly grew thoughtful.
“Since I have the time… I may as well raise my combat power a little too.”
Research on the Talisman-Rune Artifacts had hit a bottleneck for the time being.
To push it further he first had to fill in sixth-level alchemy and the high-level runecraft system, then learn enough technique and knowledge, and only then develop wizardry proper to a sixth-level wizard.
That could not be rushed in the short term.
Which left only one road to raising his strength fastest: cultivating a new technique.
At that thought, Jie Ming stroked his chin with an odd expression. “Come to think of it… since breaking through to Dao Integration, apart from the Mustard Seed Dao-Holding True Body Art, I really have never properly cultivated a single Dao Integration technique.”
And strictly speaking, the Mustard Seed Dao-Holding True Body Art was an immortal-level technique, so it hardly counted as a proper Dao Integration one either.
All told, apart from the change in his true body’s size, his combat power was not much different from before he advanced to sixth-level wizard.
Of course, a great many sixth-level wizards were in the same position, since at the high-level wizard stage the relevant knowledge is not easily learned. What genuinely underpinned his combat system was still those old friends from his God Transformation days.
Techniques like the Return to Ruins Armor and the Trigram Fire Annihilation Divine Light remained overwhelmingly powerful after being remade through the wizard system, but they were God Transformation techniques in the end.
If he could master a few genuine Dao Integration-level great divine abilities, and then strengthen and remake them through the wizard system…
the gain in his combat power would be anything but slight.
And besides, his spiritual aptitude had now risen to the very limit the Dao Integration Realm could reach.
Not cultivating a few techniques to enjoy the feeling of being a genius would be a criminal waste!
At that thought, Jie Ming slowly closed his eyes and sank into the depths of his consciousness.
When he opened them again, the Great Dao Book Pavilion, seemingly cast from white jade, still stood quietly there.
Its warm radiance fell across his conscious form, leaving the whole mental world exceptionally still.
As his thought moved, layer upon layer of bookshelves surrounded his conscious form like a tsunami.
“Whoa! This many… there may well be more here than God Transformation techniques.” Looking at the absurd number of shelves before him, Jie Ming clicked his tongue. Jade slips hung quietly, each giving off an entirely different aura of the Dao.
Some blazing as the sun, some heavy as the earth, some keen as a divine sword, some gentle as spring light…
Jie Ming’s consciousness swept slowly across them, and he soon worked out why.
The reason there were so many techniques here was that a great many of them could fairly be called advanced versions of God Transformation techniques. Truly peerless geniuses who could ascend directly from God Transformation were, after all, few, and most people still had to walk the Dao Integration road step by step. What was more, once a cultivator entered the Dao Integration state he acquired the illusion of having comprehended the Dao, and would naturally go on creating all manner of techniques to try. Understanding that, Jie Ming stirred his consciousness, and all those minor techniques created by Dao Integration cultivators trying their hand vanished, more than halving the techniques before him at a stroke.
Even so, the number remaining was still extraordinary.
After thinking a moment, Jie Ming began setting new filter conditions.
“To begin with, attack and defense techniques… not needed for now.”
Once his sixth-level wizardry was developed and remade into Talisman-Rune Artifacts, he would want for neither attack nor defense.
Besides which he still had the Mustard Seed Dao-Holding True Body Art, an immortal-grade technique, queued and waiting, and once he genuinely mastered it his combat power would rise enormously.
So studying attack and defense techniques now amounted to wasting resources. That could wait.
As Jie Ming thought it through, most of the remaining techniques were excluded as well.
“Then… movement and intelligence types are not lacking either for the moment.”
Once the Mustard Seed Dao-Holding True Body Art was complete, movement was covered by the technique itself, and adding the wizard system’s spatial wizardry made it more than sufficient under ordinary conditions.
Intelligence needed no discussion at all. Jie Ming’s Fate Law Extreme Learning Program was still sealed away.
So what Jie Ming found he genuinely lacked was a utility-type great divine ability capable of turning a battle at the critical moment.
At that thought, the densely packed shelves around him finally thinned out for the most part, though there were still jade slips numbering in the millions floating like stars through his mental space.
Only then did Jie Ming nod in satisfaction, reviewing the contents of the slips around him while strolling idly through his mental space as though out for a walk. Then, suddenly, his steps halted.
Before him, a single jade slip hung quietly.
Jie Ming slowly extended a hand, and five ancient seal characters surfaced quietly on its surface.
The Void Ash Return to Origin Hand.
He sent his consciousness into it.
In barely a moment, the vertical eye between his brows snapped open, his pupil contracting slightly.
“There is actually… a technique like this?”
The effect of this technique was very simple: to forcibly revert a target’s “state of existence” to a previous form.
To put it more concretely, used against a demonic cultivator it could beat him forcibly back to the stage before he took human form, degrading a demonic cultivator of tens of thousands of years’ cultivation straight into a beast without awakened intelligence.
Used against an enemy’s magical treasure, it could return the item to its unconsecrated state, turning a life-bound treasure painstakingly consecrated over countless years into a lump of raw, freshly cast embryo.
More extreme still, it could even be used on an individual who was gravely wounded or dead, reverting the target’s state of existence to before the injury. The cost, of course, was that if the recipient’s time was rolled back too far, his cultivation would roll back with it.
The technique was neither an attack technique, nor a defensive one, nor a healing one, and yet a user could perform all manner of flashy operations with it.
Attack and defense in one, able to advance or withdraw.
Of course, the technique was not invincible either. Its ceiling depended on the user’s depth of understanding of law and precision of spiritual power control, and its floor on the enemy’s understanding of law and capacity to resist.
But at certain particular moments, this technique really would be enormously useful!
Jie Ming gripped the jade slip tightly and made his choice with very nearly no hesitation at all.
