I Arrived At Wizard World While Cultivating Immortality Chapter 775: Recent Days
A century of time slipped quietly past without anyone noticing.
In the main laboratory, runic light screens hung silent as countless streams of data scrolled slowly by like waterfalls.
Jie Ming stood at his workbench, his expression calm, his mental energy extending outward in every direction like countless fine threads as he worked through one textbook after another. And in front of him, a creature that looked very much like a slime was moving about.
Recording data as he watched it move, Jie Ming could not keep the corner of his mouth from lifting slightly.
After a century of research, his creation of souls was drawing steadily closer to genuine maturity.
At this rate, a few more centuries of deduction and he might be able to create life with alchemy as easily as reaching out a hand.
Just then a low communication frequency came through the Incense Fire Divine Dao network.
“Our Master…”
Jie Ming heard the report out, put away his experiment records, and casually dismissed the alchemy.
The slime’s body stiffened, then swiftly turned into motes of light and broke down into elements.
He stepped onto the teleportation array, and space twisted faintly.
The next moment he stood on one of the administrative planets of the Infernal Sulfur Plane.
This was the dragonmen’s settlement world.
The whole planet’s ecology had been rebuilt entirely to the environmental parameters of the dragonmen’s original homeland.
There was a faint trace of sulfur in the air, gravity ran slightly higher than on an ordinary life-bearing world, and the star in the sky gave off a light that leaned toward red gold, all but identical to the sun of the dragonmen’s original plane.
Seen from orbit, rows of houses extended along the coastline at the edge of the continent in neat order.
The cities preserved the dragonman civilization’s original towers, stone bridges and dragon-patterned reliefs, while also showing a great many artificial structures in wizard civilization style. Broad, straight avenues, standardized residential districts and public research facilities interlaced with one another, leaving each city both culturally dragonman and extremely efficient to run.
The Black Giant priest responsible for dragonman affairs was already waiting beside the teleportation array.
Seeing Jie Ming appear, he lowered his head at once.
The vertical fissure at the center of his chest opened and closed slightly, giving off a low-frequency vibration:
“Our Master, as you see, the dragonman civilization is running normally.”
“Current total population is ten thousand three hundred and twenty-seven. One thousand eight hundred and forty-two new juveniles this cycle. Population growth remains stable and continuous.” Jie Ming nodded, and as he walked toward the city he asked in passing:
“And the proportion of high-level individuals?”
“One hundred and seventy-three have reached the fifth level of life, an increase of thirty percent over the previous cycle.”
“Dragon blood degeneration?”
“None detected so far.”
The Black Giant priest answered without the slightest hesitation.
“In accordance with your instructions, we have continued optimizing the breeding selection mechanism and placed restrictions on branch lines with larger bloodline fluctuations. Average dragon blood concentration in the new generation has risen another four point seven percent over the last.”
Something like satisfaction showed in Jie Ming’s eyes.
“Good. Keep it up.”
“Do not rush after higher concentrations. Stability matters more than speed.”
“As you command.”
The two of them walked on into the city district.
On the streets, a good many adult dragonmen were at work.
Some beat their broad dragon wings, flying back and forth between transport platforms; some operated large alchemical machinery, hauling ore and spiritual materials; and some, in uniform, were maintaining the city’s public arrays.
On a square in the distance, a group of juvenile dragonmen were playing.
Their wings were not yet fully developed, and a few flaps only got them two or three meters into the air, swaying unsteadily, before they came down again with a slap, to the great amusement of their companions.
Further off, the gate of an academy was slowly opening.
Several dozen small dragonmen fresh out of the hatchery were forming up in a long line behind their teacher, ready to go into class.
“Wings in.”
An android teacher reminded them gently.
The little ones hurriedly folded their wings back behind them.
One of them was half a beat slow, and the tip of a wing hit the door frame with a thud, leaving him grimacing in pain to a round of laughter from the children around him. Just then, someone noticed Jie Ming.
“Look!”
“It is the Lord!”
Several juvenile dragonmen stopped in their tracks and looked over curiously.
One of the bolder ones could not help asking the teacher:
“Teacher, is that the wizard who created us?”
The android teacher nodded lightly.
“And the true administrator of our whole civilization these days.”
The children’s eyes went wide at once.
They had seen portraits of Jie Ming in their textbooks since they were small, but this was the first time they had seen him in person.
One small dragonman worked up his courage, trotted two steps forward and stood ramrod straight.
“Greetings, my Lord!”
His voice was still childish, but he put everything he had into it.
Jie Ming stopped and looked at the visibly nervous little group in front of him.
He smiled. “Study hard. This planet will be yours one day.”
The children stared blankly for a moment, and then their eyes lit up together.
“Yes!”
The answer went up in perfect unison at the academy gate.
They were so excited that the wings several of them had only just folded away snapped open again with a whoosh, nearly knocking over the companions beside them, leaving the android teacher not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
Jie Ming did not linger. He only nodded slightly, then walked on with the Black Giant priest toward the deeper parts of the city.
Everything he inspected along the way, whether the running of the city, the education system, or medical care, births and resource supply, was in good order.
Several centuries of sustained investment were finally beginning to bear fruit.
The dragonman civilization had shaken off the shadow left on it before and genuinely entered a stage of stable development.
As he was about to leave, the Black Giant priest reported once more:
“Our Master, the new bloodline optimization runes we piloted earlier have now completed their first round of long-term observation. No subject has shown a rejection response.”
“Good.”
Jie Ming thought for a moment.
“Expand the sample size in the next phase, but keep advancing it in batches.”
“Also, send the bloodline optimization database to the Central Research Institute. You will no longer be solely responsible for later iterations.”
“As you command.”
With the inspection over, Jie Ming stepped back onto the teleportation array.
Space rippled.
The main laboratory reappeared before him.
He did not rest. He called up all of the research material on dragonman bloodlines and split the whole research program into several independent modules. Before long, a small research meeting convened in the laboratory.
Several Black Giant priests responsible for life studies stood along one side, while on the other stood a dozen or so senior researchers from the Tentacle Tree Civilization. Compared with several centuries ago, these plant lifeforms had fully adapted to the wizard civilization’s research system.
The leaves along their bodies swayed gently and constantly, countless tiny vibrations exchanging through the air as they shared analytical results with one another.
A Tentacle Tree researcher was the first to take up a data crystal tablet.
“Dragon blood runes, version thirty-two. We will handle life compatibility verification.”
A Black Giant priest nodded and added:
“We will complete the law stability testing.”
Jie Ming glanced at the two of them and shook his head lightly.
“Do not do it separately this time.”
Everyone present turned to look at him respectfully.
“This particular piece of research is fairly difficult. The two of you will complete it jointly.”
“All data shared in real time, and any anomaly cross-verified immediately.”
The Tentacle Tree researcher bent its branches slightly.
“Understood.”
The Black Giant priest lowered his head as well.
“As you command, our Master.”
Only once every research task was assigned did Jie Ming return to his own workbench.
These days his time was divided almost to the minute.
Mornings were for studying alchemy, runes, space and soul studies above the sixth level.
Afternoons went to continuing work on the Talisman-Rune Artifacts.
In the evening he entered the quiet chamber to temper his body with Solar True Fire and run the body forging method.
And at night he sank fully into the depths of his consciousness to go on contemplating the Mustard Seed Dao-Holding True Body Art.
When he had obtained this immortal-level technique a century ago, he had already prepared himself for a long course of cultivation.
Only once he actually began did Jie Ming discover that he had still underestimated its difficulty.
The first step alone, Dharma Form Dissolution, was far more complicated than he had imagined.
A five-hundred-kilometer true body was not something one could simply scatter.
He had to break the entire true body down into hundreds of millions of particle streams, and every particle of Dao resonance had to preserve intact the law information it carried. Any single particle that deviated would affect the subsequent Inner World Casting, and might even cause the whole structure of the true body to collapse.
So with every attempt he had to use the Law Solidification Domain to calibrate every particle of Dao resonance over and over.
It was extremely tedious work in which not the slightest error could be allowed.
Even with his current powers of deduction, a century had only just brought him within reach of the end of the first step.
There was still a long road to walk before the Mustard Seed Dao-Holding True Body Art was genuinely mastered.
