I Arrived At Wizard World While Cultivating Immortality Chapter 774: The Mustard Seed Dao-Holding True Body Art

~10 minute read · 2,387 words

Deep in his consciousness, Jie Ming sat cross-legged before the Great Dao Book Pavilion.

The towering white jade pavilion stood silent amid the chaos, a warm, gentle luster flowing through the whole of it.

Countless jade slips circled him like a host of stars, flying over to his side as his intent drew them and then flying back into the sea of books. Vast streams of information turned into ribbons of light, flashing past before his eyes without pause.

Jie Ming had been sitting here a long time.

The techniques, divine abilities and secret arts he had leafed through had long since passed ten thousand.

But with every jade slip he opened, his brow furrowed a degree deeper.

If it were only a matter of continuing to enter world fragments to run experiments, there would really be no need for all this trouble.

Any clone technique or avatar technique at all, splitting off an avatar with a hundredth of his true body’s strength, would be enough to slip easily into those small world fragments only a few dozen kilometers across.

He would not even need the Great Dao Book Pavilion. The wizard civilization’s existing puppet techniques would solve it.

Build an advanced puppet with no direct connection of law to his main body, project his consciousness across, and the research would go on as before, the experiments run as before, with almost no difference at all.

But what Jie Ming genuinely needed to solve was another, thornier problem.

Plane warfare.

The rift a conventional plane war could tear in a plane barrier was usually only a hundred kilometers or so across.

Under normal circumstances that was quite enough, enough for vast wizard legions to pass in and out.

But…

Jie Ming glanced down at himself and let out a small sigh.

A spatial rift that could normally accommodate an entire legion was pitifully narrow before his five-hundred-kilometer true body. If a body that tall tried to force its way through, it would only be jammed fast by the plane barrier’s near-inexhaustible repulsion.

Never mind fighting.

He would likely have trouble taking a single step.

To say nothing of the future.

By the Self-Sovereign True Body Sutra’s projections, once the Third Layer Dharma Form was complete his true body would swell to two hundred and fifty thousand kilometers. At that point he would probably have to design a special “widened entrance” for the Infernal Sulfur Plane’s own spatial rifts, or he would not even be able to get out of his own house.

At that thought, the corner of Jie Ming’s mouth could not help twitching.

He rubbed lightly at the space between his brows and pushed those faintly ridiculous notions back down.

In the final analysis, what he genuinely needed was not an avatar.

It was a method that could truly compress his own standing of being, compress the very essence of his existence.

And on top of that, Jie Ming hoped it would neither weaken his combat power nor lower his survivability.

Better still if it could maintain all of his laws, all of his power, and every characteristic of this five-hundred-kilometer true body he now had.

Only that way could he pass freely through plane barriers in future, and enter those world fragments again.

At that thought, he opened another jade slip beside him, one recording a kind of avatar technique.

A moment later, he quietly put it back.

No good.

Another one.

Still no good.

An avatar-class jade slip closed slowly and flew back into the sea of books. Jie Ming leaned against the white jade steps before the Great Dao Book Pavilion and let out a long breath. He had gone through less than half of them so far, but he already understood.

Searching purely among avatar-class methods, he was in all likelihood never going to find what he wanted.

Because the two worlds were different at the root.

The world the wizard civilization inhabited had the Endless Chaotic Void as its main body.

Every plane was independently born, an independent world with a complete spatial structure of its own.

Plane was separated from plane by the endless void.

Entering another plane meant, in essence, entering another space.

So a true body of excessive size would naturally run into the problem of not fitting through a spatial rift and not being able to cross a plane barrier.

But the cultivation world was entirely different.

By the material he had once come across while browsing the Great Dao Book Pavilion, the cultivation civilization inhabited a universe-type world.

That was a genuinely, very nearly infinitely broad cosmos.

It held countless stars and civilizations, and yet all of it existed within the same infinitely broad cosmic framework.

They were not spaces independent of one another, merely different coordinates within the same space.

There, enormous size had never been a problem.

Once one’s cultivation was deep enough, one simply moved about in the cosmos directly.

The cosmos was broad enough for it, after all.

Jie Ming even remembered having seen, in an ancient text, records concerning “Star Gods.”

A Star God was not a deity gestated by a planet, but a terrifying existence that took an entire galaxy as the scale of its body.

Some Star Gods were so enormous that a single eye was enough to cover a whole galaxy.

Set against existences like that, his five-hundred-kilometer true body was no different from a grain of sand.

Of course, the cultivation world also had independent spaces such as inner worlds, secret realms and small worlds.

Those places likewise had restrictions on entry.

But the primary restriction on that class of region was not size. It was cultivation.

So long as a cultivator’s cultivation did not exceed what an inner world could bear, in the overwhelming majority of cases he would certainly be able to enter a secret realm’s gate.

After all, demon beasts of the same realm were often a great deal larger than cultivators.

Many secret realms and inner worlds were created in the first place to establish a complete ecosystem.

If the entrance were not large enough, those demon beasts could never have gotten inside.

And besides, most cultivators going about their daily business only needed to maintain an avatar with extremely low upkeep.

Almost nobody made a special study of how to compress his own true body.

At that thought, Jie Ming gave up on continuing through the avatar-class techniques.

He raised a hand, and his intent stirred.

Inside the Great Dao Book Pavilion, countless jade slips trembled faintly at once.

The search conditions began changing rapidly.

The [Avatar Class] and [Clone Class] methods were all canceled, and the [True Body Compression] keyword, which had turned out to be useless, was removed outright.

New keywords surfaced.

[Standing Condensation]… and [Existence Mapping].

As the filtering finished, the flood of jade slips that had blotted out the sky abruptly thinned.

In the blink of an eye.

The sea of books that had covered heaven and earth shrank to the quantity of a single bookshelf.

Jie Ming’s spirits lifted at once.

There was something here.

He immediately began going through them carefully, one by one.

He did not know how long passed.

Until a jade slip giving off a faint golden glow drifted slowly before him, and Jie Ming reached out and caught it.

One look at the name and his eyes lit up.

The Mustard Seed Dao-Holding True Body Art.

He immediately probed into it with his divine sense.

The very first line of the jade slip made his eyes light up sharply.

“Hold the immeasurable dharma body within a single mustard seed; store the Great Dao of all heavens within a body of inches.”

Jie Ming read on, and the light in his eyes grew brighter and brighter.

The core of this divine ability was not forcibly shrinking the true body.

It was sinking the enormous Dharma Form true body completely into an inner world.

And then, by the inner world’s laws, mapping out afresh an ultimate combat form the same size as a mortal.

The whole process was not a simple compression of the body, but a total transfer of the foundation of the true body’s existence, out of the outer heaven and earth and into an inner world. After that, using the inner world’s power as a blueprint, one projected oneself back into the real world.

It looked like a shrinkage of ten million times.

But in reality it amounted to condensing an entire world plus the whole power of the true body into a body of ordinary size.

The whole divine ability came in three steps.

Step one.

Dharma Form Dissolution.

Deliberately scattering the enormous Dharma Form true body and turning it into pure Dao resonance.

Like turning a towering mountain range back into a sky full of drifting sand.

Step two.

Inner World Casting.

Channeling every particle of Dao resonance into the inner world’s core, fusing it completely with the power of the five phases within the inner world, the circulation of spiritual qi, and even the laws of time flow. In this process, every inch of tissue, every bone and every drop of blood in the true body would be redefined as part of the inner world’s power. Step three.

Reflected Projection.

Using the primordial spirit as a coordinate, mapping outward from the depths of the inner world a physical body equal in size to a mortal.

This was not a mere phantom or avatar, but a genuinely real body condensed out of the inner world’s power combined with the true body’s power. Every strand of hair carried the mountains and rivers of an inner world.

Every breath drew on the spiritual qi tides of that entire inner world.

The further Jie Ming read, the brighter his eyes grew.

Once it was mastered, the pressure of his original true body would be compressed entirely into a frame of ten feet or so.

Any swing of his fist would amount to his own power plus an entire inner world bearing down at the same time.

Any collision would carry the weight of a whole world.

Merely by standing there, the spiritual qi of heaven and earth would converge on him of its own accord, forming a terrifying vortex of spiritual pressure around his body.

And this was only the baseline effect once the method was complete.

Beyond the simple, brute increase in numbers, the special state between true body and inner world also granted the practitioner two special abilities. The first was a mode of movement.

Once mastered, what the practitioner moved was no longer his outer body, but his mapped coordinates inside the inner world.

From outside it might look like a single step, but by adjusting his coordinates inside the inner world he had already crossed hundreds of miles of mountain and river.

Mapped into the real world, that was very nearly equivalent to a divine ability like shrinking the earth into inches.

As for the last ability, it made even Jie Ming’s heart jump.

Substance and Void Exchange.

In battle he could deliberately sink some part of his body back into the inner world.

The corresponding position outside would turn straight into a patch of void with no physical substance at all.

When an enemy thrust a sword at him, he could perfectly well turn his chest into inner world in an instant, and the blade would pass clean through his body without leaving a scratch.

Reading that far, Jie Ming finally could not help smiling.

Perfect.

Perfect in the truest sense.

Not only could it turn a five-hundred-kilometer true body back to ordinary size and completely solve the problem of passing through plane barriers and into world fragments.

It further raised his density of power to an inconceivable degree.

His close-quarters combat power would not drop but rise.

More importantly, the most troublesome cultivation resource for this Mustard Seed Dao-Holding True Body Art was having an inner world of one’s own of sufficiently high quality. By the method’s own account, as the practitioner’s cultivation rose, once the inner world could no longer bear his true body the method would fail, and he would have to find a new inner world.

And as it happened, Jie Ming genuinely had an inner world.

And a very rare kind at that, one that rose in step with his own cultivation!

On another note, if he cultivated this method, his inner world, which had mainly served to store resources, sustain logistics and transport troops, would be converted entirely into a core component of his combat system as well.

Jie Ming read on to the end, and when he saw the grade his hands paused slightly.

Immortal level.

Jie Ming was silent a moment, then gave a small laugh.

He was not particularly surprised.

If anything it felt entirely reasonable.

A divine ability this close to defying heaven would be strange if it were merely of some ordinary level.

He gathered up the jade slip and closed it in his palm.

Not being able to enter world fragments for a while did not really matter.

At worst he would use the wizard civilization’s advanced puppet techniques to tide him over.

The research would not stop.

The experiments could go on as before.

At this stage he had no intention of reaching heaven in a single step, either.

It would be enough simply to complete the first half, sink his five-hundred-kilometer true body fully into his inner world, and shake off his current restrictions on movement. As for the later inner-world reflection, the law projection, and genuinely condensing a whole world into a frame of ten feet…

Those could be cultivated slowly.

Jie Ming rose slowly to his feet.

Before the white jade pavilion, countless jade slips settled back into stillness.

He looked down at the Mustard Seed Dao-Holding True Body Art in his palm, and a long-absent anticipation surfaced in his eyes.

It seemed he would have plenty to do for a good long while yet.
