I Arrived At Wizard World While Cultivating Immortality Chapter 769: Head Blown Off

After ending the call with Viola, Jie Ming sat quietly in the chamber for a long time.

That curtain of pure white light lingered deep in his consciousness like a white sun that would never go out.

Every time he blinked, that all-consuming white surfaced in his mind again without his willing it, as though one corner of the entire Endless Chaotic Void had been swallowed by that mass of light.

But in the end he let out a light breath and pushed every stray thought back down.

“No hurry.”

He murmured to himself.

“Whatever it is, it is not something I can go near as I am now.”

Curiosity was curiosity.

But curiosity had never been a substitute for strength.

Whatever the wizard civilization’s origin plane really was, and whatever secret lay behind that white light, for him there was only ever one thing that mattered right now—raising his strength as far as he possibly could.

He quickly gathered himself, unfolded the Law Solidification Domain again, and fused with the Infernal Sulfur Plane’s plane origin for the second time.

This time his target was not the white light, but those free planes in the Endless Chaotic Void that had not yet been marked or recovered. Before he truly began searching, though, he did one thing he had not done last time.

He confirmed the extent of his own search range.

The wizard civilization divided plane-searching territory with extreme strictness.

The range any wizard power could search was measured from the origin coordinate point, and within an artificially defined three-dimensional coordinate system each power was allotted a different angular range according to its size.

Each power could only extend its search along the angle it had been permitted, and could not cross the line.

These rules had been laid down personally by the ninth-level wizards at the very beginning of the wizard civilization’s expansion.

They had been enforced through ages beyond counting, and had even been written directly into the contract every wizard apprentice was required to sign.

The Noren Workshop counted only as a mid-level power within the Star Ring Federation, and the search angle it was allotted was pitifully small.

Roughly an acute conical search range of some fraction of a degree, measured from the origin plane.

And even that much only existed because the Noren Workshop had once beaten the Chaos Secret Cult and the Tower of Annihilation and “confiscated” the observation ranges of both. Still, small as the observation angle sounded, the wizard civilization’s territory was simply too vast.

By the time it radiated out as far as the Noren Workshop’s position, even so tiny an angle covered an area that was already astonishingly broad. It was no exaggeration to say that, with the Chaos Secret Cult and the Tower of Annihilation both withdrawn from this stretch of void, the Noren Workshop’s current number of high-level wizards had no way whatsoever of sweeping that angle clean.

A great many potential planes lay hidden in that distorted field of color, waiting for some patient wizard to turn them up one at a time.

Jie Ming locked his perceptual origin onto that enormous sphere of pure white light and, following the angular parameters the Noren Workshop had assigned him, calculated his own search sector precisely.

Then he lowered the intensity of his Law Solidification Domain and, with the plane-level array assisting, began searching that distorted and chaotic background of the void bit by bit. For the next several hours he barely moved.

He only worked the array, sweeping his search region inch by inch.

Time passed slowly.

Several hours later, Jie Ming withdrew from the fused state with nothing to show for it.

Coming out of the fusion, he rubbed his temples and could not help letting out a sigh.

“I knew it was coming, but I did not expect it to be quite this much manual labor.”

It was pure drudgery.

An unmarked plane, against the “background” of the Endless Chaotic Void, was almost indistinguishable from ordinary elemental turbulence.

It simply hid there quietly among countless gorgeous, twisted points of light, merged into the turbulence around it.

Of course, in theory a fully formed plane also produced law fluctuations, but those faint fluctuations were themselves drowned out by the background “noise” of the Endless Chaotic Void.

For a high-level wizard, trying to find an unmarked free plane in the Endless Chaotic Void was fundamentally no different from an ordinary person trying to find, on an entire beach, a single diamond exactly the same size as a grain of sand.

Patience, luck, and a great deal of time.

Those were the three elements of searching for planes.

Jie Ming leaned back in his chair and began entertaining some crooked ideas.

“Patience and time I cannot do anything about for now. But luck… maybe there is a way?”

He thought of the high-level fate-system wizards he had met, nearly every one of whom was good at using knowledge of fate to help find planes.

The several seventh-level fate-system wizards he had worked with on earlier missions, for instance.

Whenever they brought up “finding planes,” their tone was always casual, as though they were picking up shells on a beach.

Since the Fate Law could see the direction the future ran in, it could naturally also see clues as to “where a plane could be found.”

He did not hold a great deal of fate knowledge at present, but with the Fate Subsystem’s passive accumulation over all these years, plus his Dao Integration Realm understanding of the Law of Cause and Effect, he could reckon himself stronger than those wizards who had merely touched the threshold of the Fate Law.

“Worth a try…”

With that in mind, Jie Ming cautiously activated the Fate Subsystem, then the True-False Void-Piercing Pupil, and then, using the Law Solidification Domain as his medium, brought what little knowledge he had that could barely be called Fate Law to bear with everything he had.

What he wanted to see was, within the Noren Workshop’s allotted search angle, in which direction and at what distance an unmarked, unclaimed plane could be found.

And then…

Bang!

His head blew apart.

Literally blew apart.

Everything of Jie Ming above the neck was, in a single instant, forced into fine powder by a pure torrent of information.

Flesh, bone, soul… every material and immaterial structure that made up his skull was blown apart at the same moment by an immeasurable quantity of information. The false body in the quiet chamber burst on the spot.

The thousand-meter true body concealed beneath it took form beyond his control, its skull, which bore a face on the front and another on the back, exploding violently from the inside, dark golden flesh spattering across every runic wall of the chamber.

That terrible power spread outward in an instant, making the sky of the Infernal Sulfur Plane shudder hard and forming a golden mist of light that spread outward. The Black Giants only saw the sky sway once before it quickly returned to normal.

Still, considering that their master was a wizard, and that no alarm had sounded, the Black Giants were not particularly surprised.

What was left of Jie Ming’s consciousness let out a nearly uncontrolled scream in his spiritual sea, forcibly severing the fusion with the plane origin.

His true body crashed to the floor of the chamber, nothing left above the neck but a few strands of dark golden muscle fiber still slowly writhing.

Fortunately, the body forging method, after being tempered by Solar True Fire, had long since raised its efficiency at regenerating flesh to an absurd degree.

Shattered fragments of bone were drawn back together by an invisible gravity, muscle fibers reassembled bit by bit like cloth being woven, and the dark golden blood flowed back into his body as though it were alive.

Skin spread down from the crown of the skull, and the features of both faces, front and back, condensed back into shape in the space of a few breaths.
