I Arrived At Wizard World While Cultivating Immortality Chapter 765: Construction and Research

~8 minute read · 2,041 words

Word brought by a Black Giant priest interrupted Jie Ming’s research into Law Solidification Domain investment technology.

The materials needed for the second half of the Creation System’s construction had all arrived.

At the supply transfer station on the main continent of the Infernal Sulfur Plane, the various newly delivered metals and energy crystals had already piled up into small mountains. Jie Ming set down the practice wizard artifact whose decay curve he was still testing and walked out of the laboratory.

Before he could speak, the low, respectful voice of a Black Giant priest came from beside him.

“Master, all materials for the second-half works are in the warehouse.”

“Is the quantity enough?” Jie Ming asked as he walked on out.

“It is enough.” The Black Giant priest answered without the slightest hesitation. “The main materials required for the energy conversion hub are all on hand, and the base materials for the refinement amplification zone, the incense circuit extension section and the plane relay array have all been sorted and sealed by category to the standards you set previously.”

Jie Ming’s steps paused slightly, and he glanced toward the warehouses.

“And the construction crews?”

“Already regathered in full.” The Black Giant priest replied in his low voice. “One million sixth-level Black Giants, over nineteen million engineering Black Giants at the fifth level and above, and the Tentacle Tree artisan groups responsible for the outer supports are in position as well. At one word from you, construction can resume at any time.” “Good.” Jie Ming nodded. “Push the refinement amplification zone and the plane origin allocation hub forward first. And remind them to raise the density of the rune welding another ten percent over before. Do not chase speed. A stable foundation matters more than anything.”

The vertical mouth on the Black Giant priest’s chest opened and closed slightly, giving off a muffled low hum.

“Understood. There is one more thing, Master.”

“Say it.”

“Among the newly arrived extraordinary metals there is a batch of especially high purity. Should it be reserved for your laboratory first?”

Jie Ming thought about it.

“Keep thirty percent for the laboratory and put the rest into the works. The second half of the Creation System takes priority over my personal experiments.”

“As you command.”

With the arrangements made, Jie Ming had already come through the teleportation array to the construction site.

The Black Giant priest in charge of coordinating construction hurried over to meet him, the vertical mouth on his chest opening and closing as he gave off a steady, respectful vibration.

“Master, the first batch of materials is on site. As you instructed, the refinement amplification zone and the plane origin allocation hub will resume construction first.” “At the current rate of work, the three hundred and sixty-seven nodes around the perimeter of the ring array will also be recalibrated before the day is out.” Jie Ming cast an eye over the site and nodded.

“The weld quality on the energy conversion hub has to be checked over again,” he said. “Especially the section that mates with the seventh-level large-scale elemental pool. There cannot be any risk of energy backflow at the joints.”

The Black Giant priest lowered his head at once.

“Understood. I will have two teams of sixth-level priests take turns on the reinspection, and go over the weld layer, the rune layer and the stabilization layer all again.”

Jie Ming made a sound of assent, then raised a hand and pointed at the spirit-material ripening zone already built in the distance.

“The rune calibration over there cannot be allowed to slacken either. Keep adjusting it throughout the construction that follows, and make sure no other problems crop up.”

“Yes, Master.” The Black Giant priest agreed at once. “I will raise the construction priority over there to the highest.”

Jie Ming thought for a moment and added one more line:

“Do not rush to light up every node at once. Get the skeleton standing steady first, then let the subsequent modules embed themselves layer by layer. If any one area of the Creation System takes a full load too early, there will be problems later.”

“Understood.” There was rather more gravity in the Black Giant priest’s voice now. “I will revise the construction schedule.”

“Go on, then.” Jie Ming gave him a look. “Report any problem directly. Do not try to shoulder it yourself.”

“As you command, Master.”

The Black Giant priest saluted and withdrew, then turned to see to the reorganization of the construction crews.

Before long, the whole site was back to running at full speed.

Jie Ming, meanwhile, went around the site with a group of Black Giant priests, continually looking for problems and correcting them as they came.

After a solid month of it, the second half of the Creation System’s construction was on track, and only then did Jie Ming have any leisure.

Jie Ming made one final circuit of the site, and once he had confirmed there were no problems he handed the ongoing supervision over to the Black Giant priest responsible for the project. “You keep watch from here,” he told him. “Any abnormal fluctuation at all, notify me immediately.”

“Yes, Master.” The vertical mouth on the Black Giant priest’s chest vibrated gently.

Only then did Jie Ming turn and go back to the laboratory.

He did not rush straight back into domain investment technology. Instead he first sat down cross-legged in the quiet chamber and turned his consciousness inward to examine how he himself had changed over this stretch of time. The dark golden membrane of the Law Solidification Domain was already a good deal thicker than at the moment of his breakthrough.

Its coverage had grown, too, from a quiet chamber that could hold one person at the time of the breakthrough to a diameter on the order of a kilometer.

That range meant his domain could already extend from the laboratory all the way past the surface of the plane.

More importantly, his mastery of the Spiritual Qi Law had risen another ten percent over this past month.

With another jump upward from the one-hundred-percent baseline, the domain’s core region had grown correspondingly more solid.

The dark golden light was so thick at the core that it was almost liquid, carrying a sense of stability as it flowed slowly.

Jie Ming did not begin his next research project immediately. Instead he spent several more days specifically measuring the natural growth rate of the Law Solidification Domain. Without actively working on the Spiritual Qi Law and without any additional gain in law mastery, the domain’s diameter of influence increased by roughly eight meters a day.

That rate did not sound outrageous, but given that the domain’s coverage was a sphere, the volume actually added each day was quite considerable. And every time he raised his mastery of the Spiritual Qi Law through study or insight, the domain underwent an across-the-board jump, and its natural growth rate rose along with it.

In other words, improving law mastery not only greatly increased the Law Solidification Domain’s coverage, it also improved the domain’s rate of growth.

Beyond that, Jie Ming noticed another phenomenon.

As its coverage expanded, the Law Solidification Domain seemed to be optimizing its own internal operating logic.

While the domain’s boundary expanded, it would automatically adjust the arrangement density of its law runes, and the paths along which elements moved inside the domain would automatically reorganize as the covered area increased, adapting to the greater volume at higher efficiency.

That optimization was not something he was actively driving. It was an adaptive adjustment the domain, as a product of “thought made external,” completed naturally in the course of its expansion. “This…”

Jie Ming frowned slightly. He did not recall the materials on the Law Solidification Domain mentioning this.

“Could it be… that the body forging method is at work?” The thought flashed through Jie Ming’s mind.

By ordinary reasoning, the odds were high.

After all, the body forging method’s influence was not limited to the flesh. Soul and thought were affected as well.

Even a fairly abstract negative state like the pressure of study could be adapted to by the body forging method, through promoting the development of brain and soul. The Law Solidification Domain was the embodiment of a wizard’s thought and knowledge, so it really did fall within the body forging method’s range of influence.

“Then could I apply this modified Law Solidification Domain to the manufacture of wizard artifacts?”

Following that line of thought, Jie Ming turned his attention back to the research on investing Law Solidification Domains into wizard artifacts.

The main problem he had run into before was that the investment effect could not be made permanent. The synchronized infusion of alchemy and the Law Solidification Domain was not precise enough, and the circulation logic inside the domain was not refined enough, which left the miniature domain decaying on its own within a few weeks.

And now the domain’s self-optimized operating logic gave him a new reference point.

Jie Ming felt he could perfectly well imitate the domain’s internal adaptive circulation deliberately, so that alchemical shaping and Law Solidification Domain infusion synchronized more tightly and stably.

“Worth a try…”

With that in mind, Jie Ming took out a variety of materials and began making attempts with alchemy.

Several years slipped quietly by in repeated experiments and in directing the Creation System’s construction.

Inside the laboratory, the workbenches were piled with test wizard artifacts from different batches.

Every one of them was labeled with a serial number and its experimental parameters.

Over those years, Jie Ming’s progress in the technique was enormous.

From the earliest first-generation samples that lasted only half a month, to improved models that lasted several months, to the most recent batch of near-finished pieces that had run stably for over a year with no obvious decay.

On the light screen of the testing instrument beside them, dense experimental data was automatically organized into curves.

The decay rate had gone from a steep initial fall to a line that gradually trended toward horizontal.

Until one day, Jie Ming finally raised to his eyes the wizard artifact in his hand that had just completed its final test.

It was a standard-specification wizard artifact substrate.

Its casing material was an extraordinary alloy, its interior etched with multiple superimposed layers of energy-channeling runes.

The moment the wizard artifact was finished, Jie Ming felt something different about it from any wizard artifact before.

He could clearly feel that this wizard artifact had produced a certain degree of “difference” from the outside environment, as though the whole wizard artifact were a miniature Law Solidification Domain circulating and operating on its own.

It was no longer merely “an object that had been invested with something.” It already possessed the basic structure to run stably and independently.

Even though he felt he had succeeded this time, Jie Ming still dutifully placed it into an isolation array, cut off all outside supply of elements, and then waited quietly for several days.

Several days later, the instrument results came back: the Law Solidification Domain inside the wizard artifact had not decayed in the slightest!

The elements circulating inside the miniature domain were entirely unaffected by changes in the outside environment, its self-circulation as stable as a plane in miniature. Looking at that wizard artifact, Jie Ming finally allowed himself a satisfied smile.

Law Solidification Domain investment technology was not especially difficult in itself. Most of the sixth-level wizards skilled in alchemy could master it.

But that he could go from nothing to permanent investment in the space of a few years showed he really had put in enough work over those years on the crossover application of alchemy and the domain of law.

And once this technique was finalized, the greatest shortcoming of the Talisman-Rune Artifact was thoroughly patched.

Which was to say, he could get ready to research a new Talisman-Rune Artifact!
