Mo Sihan abruptly transports several bewildered mortals to outer space, revealing that the true appearance of the Blue Star is shrouded in a sinister, red-hued forbidden curse. After confirming the planet's vitality is being drained by this ancient seal, she and Wu Tao determine they must eliminate the hidden, corrupt entities sustaining it rather than force a destructive confrontation. As the mortals return to the surface trembling in awe of their divine power, Wu Tao prepares to hunt down the creatures responsible to ensure the Heart of the World remains secure.

It was not until Sister Han had vanished from sight that the leader dared to approach deferentially, wringing his hands as he sought guidance.

"Mr. Wu..."

"We were profoundly shaken by what we witnessed today. Having only now glimpsed a portion of the truth, we find ourselves at a loss for direction. We remain hopeful that, out of our shared connection to the Xia Kingdom, you might offer us some support and insight. Should there be any task within our power, we would gladly sacrifice our lives to serve you!"

Upon hearing this, Wu Tao turned his gaze toward them. After a solitary moment of reflection, he replied in a resonant tone.

"That will suffice. It saves me considerable effort."

"Are you aware of any unusual entities manifesting nearby? As members of the Demon Hunting Department, such matters should fall within your expertise. If so, convey me to those locations immediately."

The moment he finished, the older men scrambled toward the helicopter, frantically placing calls via their satellite phones.

Crushed under the weight of his presence, the Demon Hunting Department mobilized its vast resources with renewed intensity. Within mere minutes, they pinpointed the exact coordinates, complete with photographic and video evidence. They even transmitted several wide-angle captures depicting the creature's true form.

It had to be admitted that, despite their meager Cultivation, these individuals were truly exerting every ounce of their potential.

Wu Tao nodded in appreciation, meticulously evaluating the data packets.

"I thank you."

This brief acknowledgment left the men filled with a mixture of reverence and anxiety.

The leader, brimming with excitement, seized the moment to offer a pleasant smile and step closer.

"Mr. Wu."

"We have secured all necessary arrangements, and reinforcements are already standing by at the location. Further intelligence is currently being funneled to us. Might you consider boarding our helicopter? You could examine the briefs and review the reports while we proceed toward our destination."

Wu Tao understood the intent behind this gesture of goodwill perfectly; the man was seeking to secure a favor, a common nuance of human social conduct.

Ordinarily, he would never have entertained such trivial worldly interactions.

Yet, given their diligent assistance and the influx of data, accepting a lift posed no detriment. Understanding the nature of the adversary was, after all, the most prudent strategy.

Furthermore, it is difficult to rebuff those who extend such genuine hospitality. Since their preparations were genuinely useful, Wu Tao saw no reason to demur. He offered a nod of gratitude and boarded the craft to depart.

Throughout the journey, Wu Tao pored over the materials, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the entity he was tasked to confront, and began to formulate his strategy.

Before long, the helicopter touched down beside a lake in the north.

The older men showered him with excited thanks, making it difficult to discern who had actually assisted whom.

"Our thanks, Mr. Wu! Deepest gratitude, Mr. Wu!"

"Personnel from our branch will be arriving shortly. Should you have any commands, pray do not hesitate to voice them. Since your mission is of the utmost importance, we shall intrude no further. If ever you require our humble services elsewhere, simply say the word!"

"Take care, Mr. Wu!"

Following these hurried remarks, the men took their leave, wearing expressions as jubilant as if they had struck gold.

As the helicopter rose into the sky, the men continued to wave with profound respect, appearing almost childlike. Wu Tao felt a strange mix of amusement and melancholy; he silently noted that they were, in their own way, decent people.

Just as he prepared to commence his task, an off-road vehicle barreled toward him from the distance.

Dust surged into the air as the car raced forward, untamed and wild.

The vehicle screeched to a halt with a sharp brake. Several figures exited with professional efficiency. When Wu Tao observed Xu Rong and her team emerging, he could not help but feel a spark of surprise.

"Why are you here?"

This location lay several hundred kilometers from Pingjiang. Encountering them here after such a short interval was entirely unexpected.

Who could have predicted it.

As soon as the query left Wu Tao’s lips, aside from Xu Rong, who approached with evident excitement, her companions like Li Weiwei were even more taken aback.

"Eh?!"

"Why are you here as well?!"

"We were issued emergency orders to rush here for a classified mission. How is it that you have arrived here?"

Grasping the implication of the young girl’s questioning, the realization dawned on Wu Tao.

Ah, so that was the situation.

The reinforcements organized by those old men were these very acquaintances. The thought was rather thoughtful; choosing people with whom he was acquainted was surely a deliberate decision by those gentlemen.

Faced with such considerate arrangements, Wu Tao chose not to elaborate further.

He simply offered an indifferent reply.

"I am here on a mission of my own."

Being more familiar with him, Xu Rong clearly possessed some knowledge of the underlying situation. She stepped forward and greeted him gently.

"Mr. Wu."

"If there is anything you require assistance with, we shall spare no effort to prepare it."

Wu Tao surveyed the expansive lake. Though the scenery was striking, there was no sign of disturbance, nor did he detect any presence of spiritual monsters. He inquired aloud.

"Do you happen to have a speedboat?"

Without pause, Xu Rong responded, gesturing toward the woods concealed along the shoreline.

"Indeed!"

"Pray a moment, Mr. Wu. A speedboat shall be on the water in less than five minutes!"

With that, she signaled her team with a stern gaze, leading them toward the Demon Hunting Department's hidden observation post within the forest. The subordinates, though confused, obeyed without question.

Shortly thereafter, an amphibious vessel cut into the water.

Wu Tao nodded in satisfaction and stepped onto the craft. He seated himself firmly, conveying a signal to proceed. Xu Rong promptly led the contingent, engaging the speedboat and beginning a patrol across the lake's surface.

Waves splashed against the hull as they navigated the emerald waters, appearing as casual and relaxed as mere tourists.

After traversing the lake for some time, Li Weiwei and the other team members exchanged bewildered looks. Casting suspicious glances at the unfamiliar Wu Tao, they began to whisper among themselves.

"Who is this man? What is his background?"

"They call him Wu Tao. We crossed paths in the city before. He possesses no significant background to speak of."

"Then why is the Captain showing him such deference?"

"Who knows? I have served with the Captain for years and have never seen her treat any man with such politeness, let alone this level of accommodation."

"This is truly bizarre..."

"Are we not here to execute a secret mission? Why are we meandering across the water like sightseers?"

"Impossible to say."

"Sufficient chatter. Our duty is to obey!"

The murmurs were low, quickly swallowed by the cacophony of the splashing wake. Yet, no sound could escape Wu Tao's heightened senses.

He, however, lacked the inclination to dwell on these bystanders, nor did he feel any need to justify himself to them.

Observing that the boat had neared the center of the lake, Wu Tao finally produced a jade pendant, secured it to his fishing line, and began his vigil with the rod, presenting a picture of absolute leisure.

The men and women behind him scowled in growing suspicion, their dissatisfaction becoming evident.

Xu Rong, however, remained profoundly sensible and obedient. Possessing sharp intuition, she slowed the vessel's pace. Regardless of Wu Tao’s actions, she found them entirely justified and raised no objection.

Watching this tacit dynamic, the team members felt their confusion mount. The looks they exchanged hinted at something rather peculiar.

After observing them for a few moments, the group felt as though they had been forced to witness an intimate display. Visibly frustrated, they tried to question Xu Rong about the nature of the mission, but she offered no response.

Powerless, the group felt compelled to request permission to return to base, hoping to find some purpose and escape the awkwardness of being the proverbial 'third wheels'.

To avoid any potential interference with Mr. Wu, Xu Rong granted their request immediately.

At this juncture, the disgruntled onlookers felt their suspicions of a romantic entanglement solidified. Despite the frustrations of their secret mission, they dared not protest. The male team members cast envious glances, left with no choice but to depart alongside Li Weiwei in silent resentment. Even the prospect of swimming seemed preferable to remaining in such a predicament!

With the boat finally cleared of the others, a comfortable stillness settled over them.

Wu Tao’s expression became increasingly tranquil as he monitored the line for any sign of movement. The jade pendant, imbued with precious Qi, acted as a lure of irresistible temptation for any spirit or monster on the desolate Blue Star.

He was certain that with sufficient patience, the catch would manifest.

Alas, despite the grandeur of the surrounding mountain and lake, his protracted wait remained fruitless.

Even with his limitless resolve and steady heart, Wu Tao could not ignore the onset of hunger. With no other recourse, he turned to look at Xu Rong, who remained in patient attendance.

"Do you possess any rations?"
