Theo reviewed his status, finding it largely as anticipated.
'System, what are the average attributes for someone my age?'
[The average result is 10.]
'So, essentially, my body is quite weak, but my intelligence is high. And my appearance is slightly above average. I can work with this,' he mused.
Noticing the time, Theo realized Aurora would be home soon. He glanced at himself, feeling a sense of disgust at the sweat accumulated since the predecessor's demise and his subsequent transmigration.
He rose and headed to the bathroom for a shower before Aurora's arrival.
While he was in the bathroom, the sound of the front door opening reached him – likely his sister. He finished his shower, dressed within the confines of the bathroom, and emerged with his hair still damp.
Upon exiting the bathroom, Theo beheld a young girl with silver hair and captivating purple eyes. Despite her frail appearance, she possessed undeniable beauty.
She looked healthier than him, and it was in that moment he truly grasped the predecessor's fierce determination to care for his sister. He would rather starve himself than let her go hungry.
This realization fueled an even stronger resolve within him to ensure Aurora lived a life befitting a princess.
She was seated on the couch, absorbed in television, when she noticed her brother emerge from the bathroom. Seeing that he appeared much better than the previous day, when she had feared he might collapse, and observing him staring at her as if seeing her for the first time, her heart skipped a beat.
"Hey, sis, how are you doing? I'm going to prepare dinner. Give me about half an hour, and we can eat," he inquired, his gaze fixed on her.
"Thanks, bro, I'm alright. Just a bit tired after studying all day," she replied, watching him move towards the small kitchenette area in the room where they prepared their meals.
'Thank goodness there are still some leftovers for this month, enough for Aurora and me to eat for a few more days. But after that, I'll need to earn more money,' he thought as he began cooking.
After approximately thirty minutes of preparing a simple meal, Theo called Aurora, and they shared a hearty dinner—a pleasure Theo had never experienced in his previous life. During the meal, he became so overwhelmed with emotion that tears welled up.
It was his first meal with his sister, and though the food was modest, she savored it as if it were the finest cuisine in the world.
Aurora noticed his tears and came around behind his chair, hugging him from the back.
"Sis, I'm so sorry for not providing enough and making you eat so little," Theo choked out between sobs.
"Big Brother, don't ever say that again!!!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with anger and her own tears falling.
"Big Brother, I know everything you do for me, and I couldn't ask for a better brother. So please, don't say such things." she cried.
"Sister, I promise our lives will improve from this moment on. We will become wealthy. Thank you for staying by my side through all these difficult times," he declared with renewed determination.
"Theo, I've never doubted you," she replied, a smile gracing her lips.
They held their embrace for a few more minutes before separating to clean the dishes. Afterward, Aurora retreated to the apartment's sole private bedroom—a necessity he had given her as girls require privacy—to resume her studies. He, in turn, set up a futon in front of the television and drifted off to sleep.
It had been an incredibly intense day, leaving him utterly exhausted.
