His innocent wife is a dangerous hacker. Chapter 929

Bella’s friends and well-wishers sent her a lot of gifts after learning about her pregnancy.
Baby clothes arrived in tiny little packages, along with soft blankets, adorable socks, tiny shoes, stuffed animals, baby-care items and little things that Bella hadn’t even thought about buying yet. Some were for the baby, while others were meant for her and every time another package arrived, she couldn’t stop herself from opening it with sparkling eyes.
She would hold up a tiny outfit and imagine the baby wearing it.
Sometimes she would press the little clothes against her stomach and smile.
But along with all the happiness came the difficult part of pregnancy.
Her mood seemed to change without warning.
One moment she could be perfectly happy, laughing over something silly Eli had said and the next, the smallest thing could upset her. If Leo said something in the wrong tone, she would immediately become offended. If someone brought her the wrong food, she could become irritated within seconds. Sometimes she didn’t even understand why she was suddenly upset herself, which only made her more frustrated.
And the nausea was becoming worse too.
She vomited frequently, sometimes after eating and sometimes simply because a particular smell reached her before she could escape it. Foods she had once loved suddenly became unbearable to her, while the strangest combinations could suddenly become the only things she wanted.
Leo noticed the way her face would pale after breakfast and how she would disappear into the bathroom with her hand pressed over her mouth. He noticed how she would push her plate away after only a few bites, her nose wrinkling at the smell of food she had loved just days ago.
He noticed how she would sometimes sit very still, her hand pressed against her stomach, her expression distant and tired.
He didn’t say anything. He just stayed by her side.
Then, one morning, he found her sitting on the bathroom floor, her back against the wall and her face pressed into her hands. She was shaking.
Leo knelt down in front of her without a word.
Bella didn’t look up.
"I hate this," she whispered. Her voice was hoarse and dry from throwing up. "I hate feeling like this. I hate not being able to—" She stopped. Swallowed. "I hate it."
Leo reached out and gently pulled her hands away from her face.
Then he cupped her cheeks, his thumbs brushing away the dampness beneath her eyes.
"You’re allowed to hate it."
She blinked at him.
"You’re growing a human being inside you," he continued, his voice low and steady. "It’s exhausting. It’s messy. It’s unfair that you have to go through all of this while I just—" He paused, his jaw tightening. "While I just stand here watching."
Bella’s lip trembled.
"You’re not just standing here."
"I feel like I am."
She reached up and covered his hands with hers.
"You’re here," she said quietly. "That’s enough."
Leo looked at her for a long moment. Then he leaned forward and pressed his lips to her forehead.
"I’ll get you some water."
He helped her up from the floor, his arm wrapping around her waist and guided her back to bed. He brought her water and crackers and sat beside her while she nibbled on them, his hand resting on her knee.
Later that day, Lina found Bella curled up on the couch with a blanket pulled up to her chin, staring blankly at the television. A half-eaten plate of food sat on the table beside her.
Lina sat down next to her, the cushion dipping under her weight. "How are you feeling, dear?"
Bella shrugged. "Fine."
Lina raised an eyebrow.
"Bella."
She sighed. "Tired."
"Just tired?"
Bella was quiet for a moment.
Then, very quietly, "I threw up three times this morning."
Lina’s expression softened.
"Oh, sweetheart."
She reached over and gently stroked Bella’s hair.
"It’s going to be like this for a while. But it won’t last forever. And when you finally hold that baby in your arms..." She paused, her eyes going distant. "You’ll forget all of it."
Bella looked at her.
"Really?"
Lina smiled.
"Really."
Bella wanted to believe her.
She really did.
But right now, with her stomach still churning and her head pounding, it was hard to imagine anything beyond the next few hours.
That night, Leo came to bed late.
He found Bella already asleep, curled on her side with one hand resting over her stomach. Her face was relaxed, peaceful without any of the tension that had been there all day.
Leo stood in the doorway for a moment, just watching her.
Then he quietly climbed into bed beside her, careful not to disturb her. He lay on his back, staring up at the ceiling and after a moment, he turned his head to look at her again.
Both of them, right there beside him.
He reached over and very gently placed his hand over hers on her stomach.
"I’m sorry," he whispered into the dark. "For everything you’re going through."
She didn’t wake but somehow, he felt as though she heard him anyway.
Seeing how carefully everyone treated Bella, Eli slowly began learning how to take care of her too.
At first, he simply copied what the adults around him were doing. If Leo reminded Bella to rest, Eli would immediately tell her to rest too. If Lina brought her water, Eli would bring her water. If someone asked Bella whether she was feeling okay, Eli would quietly watch her face, trying to understand whether she was feeling sick or happy.
But soon, Eli decided that simply copying everyone wasn’t enough.
He needed to become an expert.
So, without telling anyone, he found a small notebook and started keeping his own very serious record of Mummy.
He wrote down what Bella liked to eat.
He wrote down what made her feel sick.
He even made little marks beside the foods she refused, because according to Eli, those foods were now officially "bad foods for Mummy."
His handwriting was still messy and some of the words were written much too big, while others were squeezed into tiny corners because he had run out of space. Sometimes there were little drawings beside the words too, especially when he didn’t know how to spell something.
Nobody knew about his secret notebook.
Until one afternoon, Bella was sitting in the living room looking tired and Eli suddenly disappeared.
