Bella and Leo attend a tense family dinner hosted by Grandpa William's lawyer to read his will. The atmosphere is strained as William's grandsons, Jacob, Roman, and Ashton, eye Bella with impatience and anticipation. Despite the discomfort and the palpable tension, Bella remains focused on honoring her grandfather's wishes, with Leo's quiet support. The lawyer eventually begins to read the will, emphasizing that it contains more than just a distribution of wealth.

"First, regarding the company shares," lawyer began, his voice calm and professional. "Twenty-eight percent of the shares have been placed under the name of Jacob Wilson."

Jacob’s expression changed immediately.

The tension in his face disappeared, replaced by an unmistakable smile. He leaned back slightly, looking almost satisfied with himself. His shoulders relaxed and a faint, triumphant gleam appeared in his eyes.

The lawyer continued.

"Eighteen percent have been placed under the name of Roman Wilson."

Roman’s eyes brightened. A slow, calculating smile spread across his lips. He didn’t say anything but the satisfaction in his expression was impossible to miss.

"And another eighteen percent have been placed under the name of Ashton Wilson."

Ashton, who had been nervously tapping his finger against the table, immediately stopped. A wide smile slowly appeared on his face. He let out a quiet breath he hadn’t realized he had been holding.

The three brothers exchanged satisfied glances. Their postures relaxed. The tension that had gripped them since the beginning of the evening seemed to melt away.

Jacob glanced toward Bella with smug expression.

Roman followed his gaze, and Ashton did too.

Bella noticed but she didn’t react. She simply sat quietly beside Leo, her fingers resting loosely around his hand. Her expression remained calm, almost indifferent.

She didn’t feel jealous. She didn’t feel disappointed. Those numbers meant almost nothing to her. Her grandfather could have left them everything. She would still have preferred having him sitting beside her, hearing his voice one more time, watching his eyes crinkle when he laughed.

Leo, however, noticed the looks immediately. His expression became colder, his gray eyes sharpening with quiet warning. He didn’t say anything. He merely turned his eyes toward the far corner of the room.

Jacob noticed it first.

His smile faded slightly. "What...?"

He followed Leo’s gaze. Then his face went completely pale.

Hidden in the shadowed corner of the room, one of Leo’s security men stood almost motionless, his weapon discreetly trained in their direction.

Roman’s expression froze. His confidence disappeared and uncertainty flickered across his face.

Ashton’s face lost all color. His hands, which had been resting comfortably on the table, suddenly went still.

The smugness from moments ago disappeared as quickly as it had arrived.

None of them said another word. They knew exactly what that silent warning meant.

The three brothers slowly looked away, their eyes fixed on the table, their earlier satisfaction replaced by unease.

Bella hadn’t even noticed the exchange. She was still listening to the lawyer, her attention focused on the words that were being read.

The lawyer cleared his throat and continued.

"Now, regarding the remaining company shares..." He turned another page. "Two percent of the company’s shares have been placed under the name of Isabella Moretti."

Bella blinked.

She hadn’t expected even that. She looked toward the lawyer. "Mine?"

The lawyer nodded politely. "Yes, Miss Isabella."

Bella looked down at the table. Two percent. It wasn’t much compared with what the others had received. And strangely enough, that made her feel relieved. She hadn’t wanted a large share. She hadn’t wanted to be caught in the middle of a family conflict. She simply wanted to honor her grandfather’s memory.

Jacob, Roman, and Ashton exchanged another glance. This time, their expressions were different. They looked almost pleased. Only two percent? That was nothing compared with what they had received. At least, that was what they seemed to believe.

The lawyer continued with the properties. "There are also several residential and commercial properties included in the will."

He began listing them one by one. Several properties had been divided among Jacob, Roman and Ashton. Each brother received properties that were valuable enough to make their expressions brighten again. The lawyer continued reading, explaining the locations and legal ownership of each property.

Bella listened quietly.

Then the lawyer paused.

"And the old Wilson family mansion..." Bella looked up. "The original Wilson mansion, which Mr. William personally occupied for many years, has been placed under Isabella Moretti’s name."

The room became silent again.

Bella’s eyes widened slightly. "The old mansion?"

The lawyer nodded. "Yes."

Bella’s eyes flashed with complicated emotions. That place carried countless memories of William. His library. His old study. The garden where he used to sit. The large windows through which he watched the sunset. The chair where he used to wait for her. Suddenly, the inheritance didn’t feel like property anymore. It felt like William had left a piece of himself behind for her.

Bella’s eyes became slightly moist. Leo squeezed her hand gently, offering silent support.

The lawyer looked down at the next document. "However..."

That single word immediately changed the atmosphere.

Jacob’s smile disappeared. Roman straightened. Ashton looked toward the lawyer cautiously.

The lawyer placed the pages neatly in front of him. "Mr. William left specific instructions regarding the inheritance." He took a slow breath. "There are conditions attached."

Jacob frowned. "Conditions?"

"Yes." The lawyer nodded. "Mr. Wilson specifically requested that these conditions be read aloud in the presence of every beneficiary."

He unfolded a handwritten letter. The paper looked older than the other documents. Unlike the legal papers, this one had been written personally by William. The handwriting was slightly uneven, a reflection of his weakening hands, but the words were unmistakably his.

The lawyer looked at it for a moment before speaking. "This is a personal letter written by Mr. William Wilson." Bella’s heart began beating faster.

The lawyer started reading.

"My dear family..."

His voice softened. "If you are hearing this letter, then I suppose my time has finally come."

Bella’s eyes immediately filled with tears. She lowered her head, her hand gripping Leo’s tightly.

The lawyer continued.

"I would like to begin by apologizing for leaving without being able to say goodbye properly to each of you. I spent many years believing I had more time. Perhaps that is the foolishness of growing old. We always imagine tomorrow will come simply because today did."

Bella’s lips trembled. William’s words sounded exactly like him. She could almost hear his voice, in those words.

The lawyer continued.

"I know every one of my children and grandchildren. I know their strengths, their weaknesses, their ambitions, and even the things they pretend not to care about."

Jacob’s expression became uncomfortable. Roman looked down. Ashton shifted in his chair.

"I know which of you wanted the company. I know which of you wanted property. And I know which of you wanted recognition and love from me."

The lawyer paused.

"But I also know that somewhere along the way, my family forgot something far more important."

The room became completely silent.

"Family."
