Bella wakes up to find Leo hovering over her. They share an intimate moment, confessing their love for each other and sharing a passionate kiss before greeting each other to a new day.

Bella’s treatment officially began the following week.

Every few days, Leo accompanied her to Dr. Vance’s clinic. Along with regular therapy sessions to help her recover from the trauma, she was also placed on medication to gradually remove the remaining traces of the neurotoxic drug from her body. The process was slow, sometimes frustrating but Bella was determined.

Some days she felt perfectly normal, as though the nightmare had never happened. Other days she struggled with some headaches, dizziness or sudden exhaustion that left her curled up on the couch, unable to do anything but rest. Leo never complained. No matter how busy he was with work, with the aftermath of everything that had happened, he personally took her to every appointment and stayed beside her throughout each consultation.

He held her hand during blood tests, sat quietly while she spoke to the therapist and drove her home in comfortable silence when she was too tired to talk.

One afternoon, after reviewing Bella’s latest reports, Dr. Vance’s expression grew unusually serious. He slowly placed the file on the desk, his fingers resting on the cover.

"There is something I need to discuss with both of you."

Bella instinctively straightened in her chair. Her hand found Leo’s, and he immediately intertwined his fingers with hers.

Leo quietly looked at the doctor, his gray eyes sharp and focused.

Dr. Vance took a breath.

"The toxin that had been administered to Bella wasn’t only affecting her nervous system. It also placed considerable stress on several organs while it was in her body. We’re seeing some residual effects that we need to monitor closely."

Bella’s fingers tightened around Leo’s hand.

Dr. Vance continued carefully, his voice gentle but clear. "At the moment, it’s too early to make any permanent conclusions. Her body is still healing, and we won’t know the full extent of the damage for several more months. However... there is a possibility that it may affect her fertility. The chances of conceiving naturally could become lower than average."

The room became silent.

Bella felt as though she hadn’t heard him correctly. Her mind tried to process the words but they seemed to slip away, refusing to settle.

"...What?" Her voice was barely audible.

Dr. Vance looked at her sympathetically. "I know this is difficult news. But I also don’t want you to lose hope. Medicine continues to advance. Many people with fertility challenges are still able to have children through treatment or assisted reproductive technologies, depending on the underlying cause. We’ll continue monitoring your recovery before making any long-term conclusions."

Bella lowered her head.

She loved children. She had always imagined holding a baby in her arms, watching Leo teach them how to ride a bike, hearing a tiny voice call Leo and her She had dreamed of beautiful mornings with a little one curled up between them, of birthday parties and bedtime stories and all the small, precious moments that made a family whole.

The thought that it might never happen...

Felt like someone had quietly broken a piece of her heart.

Her eyes slowly filled with tears.

"...I’m sorry..." she whispered.

Leo immediately turned toward her, his brow furrowing. "For what?"

Bella couldn’t bring herself to meet his eyes. "What if... what if I can’t give you a baby?" Her voice trembled. "You deserve to be a father, Leo. You deserve to have a family."

Leo interrupted her before she could finish.

"Bunny." His tone was calm, yet firm. He gently lifted her chin until she looked at him. "I love YOU. Not your ability to have children."

Bella stared at him, her tears spilling over.

"I don’t care whether we have children," he continued, his voice calm. "I don’t care whether it’s one child, ten children... or none at all. My wife is you. My family begins with you."

He softly brushed away the tears gathering in her eyes.

"So don’t apologize for something that isn’t your fault."

Bella’s tears finally spilled over. "But... I love children..."

Leo smiled faintly. "I know. And if one day you still want to raise a child... we’ll look at every option together."

He gave her hand a reassuring squeeze. "If treatment helps, we’ll try treatment. If another path feels right for us, we’ll consider that."

He chuckled softly. "And besides..." A rare hint of amusement appeared in his eyes. "Jay already confidently volunteered to solve the ’baby problem’ with modern technology. He had a whole presentation prepared before we even asked."

Bella blinked through her tears before letting out a tiny laugh. "I remember."

Leo nodded with complete seriousness. "He sounded remarkably prepared. We just have fun with all the babies he made with Jace."

Bella laughed again hearing his words, wiping her eyes.

Seeing her smile return, Leo leaned over and gently kissed her forehead. He lingered there for a moment, his lips warm against her skin.

Bella quietly leaned against his shoulder, the fear in her heart eased.

Because she realized something important.

Dr. Vance watched them with a hint of a smile. It was rare to see such affectionate couples nowadays—people who loved each other not for what they could give, but for who they were. He quietly closed the file and made a note in his records, his heart warmed by the sight of them.

After leaving the hospital, Leo didn’t drive toward the Moretti mansion.

Instead, he quietly took another route. The car glided through the city streets, past familiar landmarks, until Bella finally noticed they were heading in a direction she didn’t recognize. She had been staring out of the window in silence, her mind still clouded with Dr. Vance’s words but the change in scenery slowly pulled her back to the present.

She blinked in confusion.

"...Leo?"

"Hm?"

"Where are we going?"

"A date."

Bella looked at him with wide eyes. Her heart did a small, unexpected flip.
