His innocent wife is a dangerous hacker. Chapter 841 He’s right there!
Previously on His innocent wife is a dangerous hacker....
Leo’s expression instantly hardened.
He slowly turned his head. The corner was empty.
Nothing.
Only a chair beside the window and the evening light filtering through the curtains.
He looked back at Bella.
"Bella. Look at me."
His voice remained calm.
She didn’t. Her terrified eyes remained fixed on the same empty corner.
"No..." she whimpered. "He’s looking at me..."
Her entire body began trembling. "He won’t stop looking at me..."
Fresh tears spilled down her cheeks.
Leo gently held both sides of her face, encouraging her to look only at him.
"Bella. Listen to my voice. There is no one else in this room. It’s only you... and me."
Bella shook her head desperately. "No!" Her voice cracked. "You can’t see him?" She pointed again, her finger trembling so badly that she could barely keep it raised. "He’s right there!"
She suddenly covered her ears. "He’s telling me it’s my fault." A frightened sob escaped her. "He says I killed him... He keeps saying I killed him..."
Leo’s heart sank.
He pulled her firmly into his embrace before she could look toward the corner again.
"No. Don’t listen."
Bella clutched his shirt with desperate strength.
Bella cried into his chest, her fingers clutching the back of Leo’s shirt so tightly that the fabric wrinkled beneath her trembling hands. "I’m scared... I’m so scared..."
Her voice was so small, so fragile, that it felt as though it might break apart with the next breath.
Leo closed his eyes for a brief moment.
Every tear she shed felt like it landed directly on his heart.
He slowly loosened the embrace just enough to look at her face.
Her cheeks were flushed crimson from crying. Her beautiful eyes were swollen and red, still glistening with fresh tears. Tiny droplets clung to her long eyelashes before sliding silently down her pale cheeks.
She looked utterly terrified.
Leo gently brushed a damp strand of hair away from her face before cupping her cheek.
"Bella..." His voice was quiet and reassuring. "Can you show me where you’re looking?"
Bella swallowed shakily.
With trembling fingers, she slowly pointed toward the far corner of the room.
"There..." Her lips quivered. "He’s there..."
Leo followed the direction of her finger.
The corner was empty.
He looked back at Bella instead of arguing with her.
She wasn’t pretending. Whatever she was experiencing felt completely real to her.
He couldn’t take away her fear by telling her it wasn’t there.
He needed to help her feel safe.
Leo stood up and walked calmly toward the corner she had pointed at before stopping.
He glanced back at Bella. "Here?"
Bella nodded quickly. "N-No..." She pointed a little farther to the left. "There..."
Leo took two slow steps. "Here?"
"Yes..." Her breathing remained uneven. "Right there..."
Leo nodded once. "Alright."
He rolled his shoulders as though preparing for a serious fight.
Then, without a hint of embarrassment, he threw a powerful punch into the empty space.
The sound of his fist cutting through the air echoed softly through the room.
Bella blinked.
Leo narrowed his eyes dramatically.
"So..." He spoke to the empty corner in his usual calm voice. "You’ve frightened my wife enough."
Another swift punch. "And I don’t tolerate people making her cry."
He lifted one leg and delivered a firm kick through the empty space before dusting off his hands as though he’d finished dealing with an unwanted intruder.
He turned back toward Bella, his expression softened immediately.
"Look carefully."
He walked back to her bedside and knelt so their eyes were level. "Is there anything still bothering you over there?"
Bella hesitated.
She looked toward the corner again. Her breathing gradually slowed.
After several long seconds...
The fear in her eyes began to fade. Her shoulders relaxed. Then, almost shyly, she looked back at Leo.
"...It’s gone."
A tiny, tearful smile appeared through her trembling lips. "It’s gone..."
Relief washed over her face, and fresh tears slipped down her cheeks—not from fear this time but because she finally felt safe enough to breathe again.
Leo smiled gently. "Good."
He sat beside her once more and carefully gathered her back into his arms.
"There." He kissed the top of her head with endless tenderness. "I’m here."
His hand slowly stroked her hair. "If you ever feel frightened again, you don’t have to face it alone. Tell me, okay?"
Bella buried her face against his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. She nodded her head.
He continued to hold Bella close, one hand gently stroking her hair while the other rested reassuringly against her back. He waited until her breathing had calmed a little before speaking.
The room was quiet except for the soft ticking of the clock and the distant chirping of birds outside.
"Bella..." His voice was so gentle that it barely rose above a whisper.
She slowly looked up at him, her eyes still wet with tears. Her lashes were clumped together, her cheeks flushed from crying. She looked exhausted, fragile like a flower that had been battered by a storm.
Leo said softly. "I want to take you to see a doctor, alright?"
Bella blinked. "A doctor?" A flicker of uncertainty crossed her face. Her brow furrowed slightly. "Why...?"
Leo smiled softly and brushed away another tear with his thumb. His touch was warm and reassuring.
"So we can help make the nightmares stop," he said patiently, never taking his eyes off her. "You’ve been having frightening dreams. You wake up terrified. You see things that aren’t there. I don’t want you to keep suffering like this. It breaks my heart every time I see you scared."
Bella quietly listened.
For a brief moment, she simply stared at him.
Deep inside, Leo’s heart tightened.
Something about her expression felt... different.
She looked unusually vulnerable, almost childlike in the way she searched his face, as though trying to decide whether the world around her was safe. Her eyes were wide and uncertain, like a child who had lost their way.
He silently prayed she wouldn’t retreat further into that frightened state, or maybe her little space.
All he wanted was to help her.
Bella slowly shook her head. "No..."
Leo’s smile remained calm. "It won’t hurt. I promise. The doctor is kind. He’s helped many people with similar problems. And I’ll stay with you the whole time. I won’t leave your side for a single moment."
Bella shook her head again, this time much more quickly. Her hair swayed with the motion.
"No."
Her fingers immediately grabbed his sleeve, clutching it like a lifeline.
"I don’t want to go."
Her breathing became uneven once more. "No..." She pressed herself closer against him, almost hiding in his embrace. Her face was buried against his chest, her fingers gripping his shirt. "I don’t want to."
Tears spilled down her cheeks again. "They’ll ask me questions..." Her voice trembled. "I don’t know how to answer..."
