Nonna performs acupressure on Bella's scalp, easing her stress and headaches. Bella finds the massage incredibly relaxing, drifting off to sleep peacefully while Nonna and William watch over her.

"Doctor... what’s happening to my Bella?"

William’s usually steady voice carried unmistakable worry as he stood beside the bed. His hands were clasped behind his back, a posture he usually maintained when he was trying to stay calm but his fingers were gripping each other too tightly, his knuckles white.

"She was sleeping so peacefully... and then all of a sudden she started thrashing around. I’ve never seen anything like it. She was so still one moment and then—" His voice faltered.

His brows were tightly furrowed as he looked at Bella, whose forehead was covered in a thin layer of sweat. Her caramel hair was damp, sticking to her temples in dark strands and her lips were parted slightly as she breathed in shallow, uneven gasps. Her fingers twitched against the blanket.

"She kept struggling... like she was trying to escape from someone. Like she was fighting for her life."

His expression darkened.

"And she was shouting... saying something, but we couldn’t understand. It sounded like she was begging someone to stop. Over and over again."

The physician stepped closer to the bed and gently examined Bella. He checked her pulse, finding it rapid and uneven. He took her blood pressure, frowning at the elevated reading. He shone a small light into her eyes, watching her pupils react sluggishly before quietly observing her restless movements.

Bella’s breathing was uneven, her fingers clutching the blanket tightly as if she were trapped inside something terrifying. Her legs twitched beneath the sheets, her body responding to an invisible threat. A soft whimper escaped her lips.

The doctor frowned thoughtfully, his brow furrowed.

Before he could speak, Leo walked over. His face was calm but his gray eyes were sharp and alert, missing nothing. His jaw was tight.

"This isn’t the first time," Leo said.

The doctor’s attention shifted toward him.

"She had nightmares two nights in a row before this. Both times she woke up screaming. Both times she was trembling, drenched in sweat, unable to speak for several minutes."

Leo’s expression remained calm but the worry hidden beneath it was impossible to miss. His hands were in his pockets but his knuckles were white.

"And now it’s happening again. It’s getting worse."

He reached into the folder he had been carrying and handed over Bella’s latest medical report.

"This was sent to me by Dr. Vance. He’s been monitoring her case remotely. He’s a specialist in trauma-related nightmares."

The physician carefully read through every page. His eyes moved slowly, taking in every detail.

Several moments passed in complete silence. The only sounds were Bella’s uneven breathing and the soft ticking of the clock on the wall.

Finally, he lowered the report.

"I’m a general physician," he said honestly. "Based on my examination, I don’t see signs of an immediate medical emergency. Her vitals are elevated but that’s consistent with a nightmare-induced panic response."

He looked at Bella sleeping uneasily. Her face was pale, her lips slightly blue at the edges.

"However..." He gently tapped the report in his hand. "Recurring nightmares, especially when they’re intense enough to cause physical distress during sleep, shouldn’t be ignored. The fact that she’s hallucinating during the episodes suggests something deeper is happening."

William’s face became even more serious. "You think something is wrong?"

The physician answered carefully, choosing his words with precision. "I can’t determine the exact cause from this alone. These symptoms could be related to stress, emotional trauma, anxiety, certain sleep disorders or something else entirely."

He looked toward Leo. "But considering this has happened repeatedly and combined with Dr. Vance’s notes, I strongly recommend that she be evaluated by him as soon as possible. The hallucinations, the thrashing, the fear—these are signs that her mind is trying to process something she hasn’t been able to confront while awake."

"If these nightmares continue, they may begin affecting her daily life—her sleep quality, her emotional well-being, her concentration, and even her physical health. Prolonged sleep deprivation can have serious consequences."

Leo silently listened to every word. His face remained impassive but his eyes betrayed him. They were dark, shadowed with worry.

His gaze slowly returned to Bella.

She had finally become still again, but even in sleep her brows remained tightly knitted, as though she was still trapped inside the nightmare. Her fingers were still clutching the blanket. A soft whimper escaped her lips.

His jaw tightened.

That was enough.

He wasn’t going to wait and hope it disappeared on its own.

He would personally take her to Dr. Vance once she woke up.

Two hours later...

Bella’s eyes flew open.

She gasped sharply, as though she had been pulled out of deep water. Her chest rose and fell in frantic breaths while cold sweat clung to her forehead. Her trembling hands instinctively grabbed at the blanket beneath her, trying to ground herself in reality.

Everything still felt... wrong.

"Bella."

A familiar voice immediately reached her ears.

"Bella, it’s me."

Leo gently cupped her face, forcing her frightened eyes to focus on him. His thumbs brushed against her cheeks.

"It’s me... Leo. You’re safe. You’re at Nonna’s house. No one is going to hurt you."

For several long seconds, Bella simply stared at him. Her eyes were wide and unfocused, still lost somewhere between the nightmare and reality.

Then, slowly, she nodded.

"I know..."

The moment she recognized him, the fear she had been desperately holding back completely shattered.

Tears streamed down her cheeks. Without hesitation, she threw herself into his arms, clutching him so tightly that her fingers wrinkled the back of his shirt.

Her whole body trembled uncontrollably.

Leo immediately wrapped both arms around her, holding her securely against his chest. His hand slowly stroked the back of her head.

"It’s alright. I’m here. You’re safe."

Bella buried her face against him, shaking her head over and over.

Bella cried, her voice broken by sobs. "I don’t like it... I don’t want to sleep anymore. Please don’t make me sleep. I don’t want to close my eyes."

She clung to him even tighter. "Every time I close my eyes..." Her breathing became uneven. "...he comes back. He’s always waiting for me. He’s always watching."

Leo frowned. His hand paused for a fraction of a second.

"He?" Leo asked.

Bella slowly lifted her head.

Her face had gone completely pale. Her wide eyes weren’t looking at Leo anymore.

They were fixed on something behind him. Something in the corner of the room.

Her pupils slowly widened.

"No..." she whispered. "No..."

Her breathing became faster. Her hands began shaking violently.

"There..." She pointed toward the far corner of the room. "There..." Her voice rose into panic. "Leo... He’s standing there. Right there. He’s looking at me."
