The waiting area felt rather deserted. Perhaps it was due to the recent airplane crash, which had caused many travelers to cancel their flights and opt for different carriers. Before long, Ye Feng spotted Xia Qingqian seated with a visibly pale complexion.
Upon noticing Ye Feng in the waiting room, she immediately stood and approached him, her lips trembling. "Housekeeper Ye..." she was unable to continue.
"Miss Xia, it is truly a relief to see you alive!" Ye Feng exclaimed, his anxiety finally subsiding as he looked at Xia Qingqian. He stepped forward and continued, "Miss Xia, there is no need to explain. I will take you back to the villa immediately."
However, Xia Qingqian remained in place, gazing at Ye Feng with a bewildered expression. "Housekeeper Ye, the Young Master likely does not wish to see me now. I overheard some staff mentioning that Ye Feng was searching for someone named Xia Qingqian, which is why I asked the airport patrol for assistance in finding you. Housekeeper Ye, it is good that I found you. Could you… could you buy me a new ticket?"
If the Young Master did not want to see her, then what was the point? Her flight had been involved in an accident, a fact she had seen on the news, which sent tremors through her heart and made it difficult to breathe.
Yet, she found herself alone in the United Kingdom, penniless, and unable to afford a ticket to return home.
"Miss Xia, how could you possibly say such a thing? Do you not know that upon hearing about the accident involving your flight, the Young Master personally rushed to the scene and entered the wreckage to search for your body?" Ye Feng was taken aback by Xia Qingqian's words; she seemed to lack any survival instinct, her brow furrowed deeply instead.
"What did you say? The Young Master actually went to the scene? I had no idea such a thing had occurred. I apologize." A flicker of joy appeared in Xia Qingqian's eyes as Ye Feng recounted how the Young Master had immediately flown to the site after learning of her flight's mishap, desperately seeking her.
These were developments she had scarcely dared to imagine. As she watched the report on the television screen, her entire body had been shaking. If Ye Chenfeng had not intervened and asked her to disembark the plane in those final three minutes, she might have been counted among the casualties. At the time, Ye Chenfeng's delay had caused her to harbor resentment, but now it seemed he had indirectly become her savior.
While viewing the coverage, she pondered whether Beitang Yao had been following the news, whether he might have inadvertently heard about it on a car radio or stumbled upon the report. If he knew she had potentially faced the same fate as the many victims, would he be saddened?
A wry smile touched her lips; how could the Young Master possibly care whether she lived or died? It was this belief that led her to abandon any notion of reassuring him, leaving her to idly occupy a seat in the waiting room, clutching her phone.
Xia Qingqian sat alone in the waiting area, her mind racing with countless thoughts, yet none brought resolution. She felt utterly lost.
Unable to return to the Young Master's side or go back home, she was adrift, her heart consumed by a profound fear, much like the ceaseless stream of people moving past her. Not a single soul paused their journey, no one entered her world to linger, to even glance her way for a fleeting moment.
"Indeed, Miss Xia, I will escort you back to the villa without delay. The Young Master awaits my report," Ye Feng stated confidently, urging Xia Qingqian once more. Finally moved, she stood and followed Ye Feng out of the airport, heading directly towards the villa.
