Heaven, Earth, Me Chapter 1626. Hint Acquired.
Previously on Heaven, Earth, Me...
Yasenia’s group stayed in Wu Lan Xin’s mansion for a week. During this week, the maids spread out and gathered information. Yasenia made sure to behave like a model guest, entertaining Wu Lan Xin while also using her "self-isolation" as an excuse to squeeze information from her.
What she learned about was quite peculiar. For instance, the people isolated here were not unaware of the outside world. Yasenia had expected them to be ignorant of it. However, it seems that they were taught differently. Instead of hiding it, everyone was taught from a very young age that they were the "chosen group" to guard an evil that could "destroy everything."
They also "knew" that unless this evil was vanquished, going to the outside world would cause the destruction of the world.
So, society has adapted and didn’t mind much about the outside. There were, naturally, those curious and those rebellious. These people, after so many years, managed to create a "liberation faction," so to speak.
Yasenia hummed, her eyes shining with interest. ’So, even here, society is divided into two."
Wu Lan Xin asked. "Did you say something, Lady Yasenia?"
"Nothing, Miss Wu." Yasenia smiled at the cute girl with a cold appearance. Honestly, Yasenia’s fingers were itching to pinch her gelatinous cheeks. ’Resist the evil impulse!’
"Ahem. Miss Wu, then why have I not seen much conflict?"
Wu Lan Xin sighed. "While those barbaric and selfish [Duty Forsakers] are trying to escape their duties, they have not completely given up their humanity. So, they don’t cause much trouble... well, for now. There was a time when this place was bathed in blood and covered in mountains of corpses."
This place, with a culture that withstood the passage of time for over a million years, naturally had its ups and downs. There were even times when the [Duty Forsakers] took control. However, even when they ruled, none of them found a way to escape this place. Therefore, they were eventually overthrown.
Since then, the [Duty Forsakers] focused on building a safe haven for those who refuse to follow their "destiny" as guardians. Yasenia couldn’t help but sympathize with both sides.
’In a way, their ancestors were quite ruthless. This Secret Realm is quite large, probably around a tenth of the outside world. However, that doesn’t mean that it isn’t stifling when you know that the sky IS the limit.’
There is a difference between living in a house and living in a cage as large as your house.
Wu Lan Xin looked at Yasenia and asked, a touch nervous. "You... um. Lady Yasenia, you won’t turn and look for those [Duty Forsakers], right?"
Yasenia blinked, leaving her ruminations. She smiled at her. "Don’t worry, I am not here to cause trouble. Didn’t I tell you? I am just curious about the world outside our cave... In your words, we were retrained to an even smaller world. So, for us, this place is our outside world."
Wu Lan Xin thought about it and saw that it made sense. She nodded with a serious face. "I see. That makes sense."
Honestly, during the last few days, Wu Lan Xin had tried to check the strength of Yasenia’s group. She knew that Yasenia’s maids disappeared somewhere from time to time, and to make sure they were not up to something evil, she asked her people to follow.
The result was nothing but catastrophic. All her spies were discovered, put to sleep, and then sent back silently. Eventually, Wu Lan Xin decided to give up. Not because she was not curious, but because her servants were tearfully asking her to stop.
Her eyes lingered on the gorgeous dragon woman holding the long-haired blonde woman in her lap. ’How strong is she, truly?’
Perhaps, if she had not intervened, the ones in danger would not have been Yasenia’s group, but Han Chuan. As she was pondering, a maid appeared from the shadow like a ghost.
Her heart jumped a little, but she was accustomed to it by now. The maid who appeared was one of the few whom Wu Lan Xin found scary rather than beautiful. Her face was gorgeous, and her lustrous black hair and fair skin were equally stunning. However, her eyes... were ominous. Two pitch-black eyes with no pupils, no irises, and no sclera. It was as if two obsidian orbs had been embedded into her eye sockets. Moreover, this obsidian felt cursed, a dangerous energy swirling around them.
After the woman spoke some words in Yasenia’s ears, the dragoness raised her eyebrow, showing interest. Then, Wu Lan Xin saw the long dragon tail move and pat the scary woman’s head softly. Doriel’s facial expression softened, like a beast being pacified by her owner.
"Miss Wu."
"Y-Yes?"
Yasenia smiled at her. "It seems our presence has caused some unrest. My maids have detected quite a few... unwelcome guests entering your compound. Some of them are from the eight guardian families. What is Miss Wu’s intent or procedures when dealing with such people?"
Wu Lan Xin stiffened and then frowned deeply. "Are you sure, Lady Yasenia?"
Yasenia turned and smiled at Doriel. "Can you carry them over, Doriel?"
Doriel bowed, and with her gesture, she merged into the shadows and left silently. In the time that it took Yasenia to feed Angel two pastries, Doriel returned and waved her hand.
A large shadow covered an empty space, and from there, over 30 people were tossed out.
Wu Lan Xin’s eyebrow twitched when she saw their states. Most of them had their limbs cut off, and while their wounds had been healed to make them presentable, the empty eyes and trembling bodies spoke a thousand stories without a single word.
Yasenia blinked and looked at Kali. "Honey, can you heal them? They don’t look too presentable."
Kali waved her fox tails while sipping in some sweet milk tea. Healing energies poured onto them, and in a matter of seconds, limbs regrew, and their bodies were returned to a pristine state.
Wu Lan Xin’s heart jumped a little. ’What a monstrous healing ability.’
Every single peek at their strength made Wu Lan Xin feel intimidated, to the point that she had subconsciously elevated their strength to that of the Guardians. It was still not a conscious thought, but her attitude was respectful and deferent.
Interrogating them was effortless. Their minds had already been broken, and their binding oaths not to spill the truth were also broken. So, every question Wu Lan Xin asked was answered with an emotionless yet truthful tone.
"Sigh..." After hearing different yet similar accounts from most of them, Wu Lan Xin frowned, complicated. ’Well, I was not much different. The difference is that my spies were spared.’
Her gaze toward Yasenia once more took on a more cautious look. "Lady Yasenia, I apologize. Please, understand that unknown powers of Lady Yasenia’s level are rare. Moreover, due to your blinding beauty and special characteristics, the fact that you are completely unknown is... odd."
While "Odd" was an understatement, Wu Lan Xin didn’t want to label them as "Suspicious," just in case.
Yasenia, of course, understood. "It is no one’s fault, so don’t apologize. Anyway, this week has been quite pleasant. So, I wanted to ask if there was any event or place that you’d recommend to us."
Wu Lan Xin pondered, and soon, her eyes flashed. "Ah. Right. You might want to participate in an event that occurs in every single Core City once a year."
"Hm~?"
Yasenia’s eyes flashed with interest. Wu Lan Xin explained. "Every year, the top cultivators fight for a chance to gain a place in the central [Guardian Trial]. The [Guardian Trial], as straightforward as the name suggests, consists of many tests to classify those top powerhouses as the heir of the current Guardians."
Yasenia asked, showing interest. "Oh! Then, is it possible to see those illusory Guardians during this tournament?"
Wu Lan Xin chuckled. "Not only can you see them, but there are also plenty of interesting prizes."
Yasenia’s lips arched. ’Finally, the lead we wanted.’
"Alright. Let’s go participate, then."
Holding Angel in her arms, Yasenia walked outside together with Wu Lan Xin. Their group was quite large because Yasenia’s and Wu Lan Xin’s entourages had mixed. Thankfully, the streets were wide enough for their group of over 400 people to walk without causing congestion.
While walking toward the location, they encountered some people. "Wu Lan Xin, I didn’t expect you to involve yourself with other lowly people."
An arrogant female voice reached them. Wu Lan Xin sighed, turning to look at a slender and beautiful woman holding a fan. Her elegant steps and luxurious-looking robes were quite a sight.
As explained before, this society preferred body-fitting clothes for some reason, so the woman was wearing a qipao-like dress, but with a more body-hugging cloth.
Evelyn rubbed her chin. "Oho. I thought only Wu Lan Xin had a sense of beauty, but it seems that elegant clothes do exist."
Wu Lan Xin answered the arrogant woman. "What do you mean, Miss Bai?"
Miss Bai looked at Yasenia and the rest and snorted. "Look at their clothes; are they trying to fill out their figures with such baggy things? Truly, people without elegance, worse than a commoner."
Yasenia’s eyes shone with amusement. She spoke. "Oh, would Miss Bai prefer if I wore clothes such as these?"
Then, Yasenia changed into a perfectly body-fitting red qipao. Instantly, her elegant but seductive figure was perfectly highlighted to the world. Her massive bust, perfectly slim waist, and wide and plump hips, coupled with her naked, thick thighs and long legs, left everyone speechless.
Miss Bai’s arrogant expression froze, her eyes staring blankly at Yasenia. In their eyes, Yasenia pulled a trick of wearing everyday clothes into an elegant beauty-enhancing gown.
Even Wu Lan Xin, who had grown somewhat accustomed after seeing Yasenia every day for a week, was gobsmacked. Miss Bai stuttered, her face flushing red. "T-That... Ahem. If you had such elegant clothes, why not wear them...? Heavens, are those truly real...? So big..."
The last sentence was muttered, but the people around were too strong to miss that faint sound. Yasenia changed back and smiled. "I prefer not catching attention, so I usually avoid wearing too fancy clothes. Excuse me for my lack of manners, Miss Bai."
Miss Bai shook her head. "N-No. It is true that wearing elegant clothes with Lady’s body would be... problematic."
Her tone softened, and Miss Bai asked. "Is Lady..."
"Yasenia Dravory, Miss Bai."
"I see. Is Lady Yasenia going to participate in this year’s events?"
Yasenia smiled. "That’s the intention. Will Miss Bai do so as well?"
Miss Bai shook her head and smiled. "That’s not the case. I am still not strong enough. However, some of my family members will participate. I hope Lady Yasenia will put on a good resistance and teach them a lesson."
Her attitude had changed a lot, but Yasenia didn’t mind. As long as things didn’t become problematic, a simple show of "status" was not difficult. "I will do my best, Miss Bai. Miss Wu, let’s continue."
Miss Bai asked. "May I join?"
Yasenia looked at Wu Lan Xin, leaving the decision to her. Wu Lan Xin nodded. "There is no problem, Miss Bai."
