The protagonist wins an unknown antique relic at auction for a surprisingly low price. Upon returning to his room, he is approached by the auction manager, who clearly has ill intentions. After the manager leaves, the protagonist uses the relic, which is recognized by his system as a special relic and causes a talent level-up.

Market City-Auction

"10th-Grade Mid-Tier Healing Potion," I uttered.

I thought the auction item was going to be different-not a healing potion.

"100,000!"

"110,000!"

"120,000!"

The bidding was increasing as time passed.

Hearing that, I understood that someone was in dire need of resources. But I was more interested in seeing the final auction item.

I was sure there was going to be fierce competition. Everyone would fight for the resources. They would use everything at their disposal to bid for it.

[Ding! The special relic has been used. The power of gravity magic has increased.]

I heard the system’s voice in my mind. I stopped paying attention to the auction and summoned the status panel.

The status panel appeared before my eyes. I glanced at the stats. In particular, my gaze fell on my talent.

The talent remained the same; there was no level-up. But the system notification said that magic power had improved.

That was only possible when the talent improved. I then asked the system about it.

[Ding! The host’s talent is already superior.]

[Ding! To level up, more than one special relic is required.]

Hearing the system’s voice in my mind, I sighed in relief. I understand the reason now. No wonder the talent needed more relics to level up.

Besides, this metal relic was a worn-out one, so its power was not enough.

"150,000!"

Right then, I heard the next bid. Someone from the VIP room made the call.

Seeing that, I thought the bidding was reaching its end. No one was going to bid further.

Outside,

Auctioneer Elowen swept her gaze across the VIP rooms. Her gaze paused in the 5th room as well, but no bid came from there.

She thought the guests in the 5th room might have exhausted their wealth. She was not the only one with that thought.

The other VIPs thought the same. They had been worried that the person might bid again. Seeing that he was not making any moves, they felt there was one less opponent.

The female wizard had stopped after a single bid, and the person with the deep male voice had stopped bidding as well.

So, the person who offered 150,000 Mid-Grade Stones was going to win the bid.

Auctioneer Elowen saw that no one was bidding further. She called the bid three times in a row and declared the VIP the winner.

Now, it was time for the final auction item. Everyone looked toward the auction stage. The Manager and the old Magic Lord were paying close attention as well.

They had already marked the young man in the 5th room as their target. Now, they knew the final auction item was going to be even more competitive.

Once the auction ended, they would need to escort the attendees out. The Manager saw that the person in the 5th room hadn’t bid.

Yet, he didn’t leave the room; he continued to wait for the final auction item.

The Manager left the room without saying anything to the Magic Lord. The Magic Lord’s eyes flashed with a gleam.

He knew the Manager was going to act. He, too, set his gaze on the person in the 5th room. Once the auction ended, he would wait outside.

Meanwhile, Auctioneer Elowen noticed that everyone was waiting eagerly for the item.

"It’s time for the final auction item," Elowen said with a smile.

Cheer!

The guests on the floor let out a roaring cheer. It was finally time. They would finally know what the item was.

Auctioneer Elowen saw the response and felt satisfied. She also knew the upcoming contest would be intense.

Once the auction ended, there was bound to be a huge fight, so she decided to conclude the event quickly.

She announced, "The staff will bring out the final auction item now."

At her signal, a female staff member carried a large box toward the platform.

Everyone’s gaze locked onto the stage. They were curious to see what this magic item would be.

Auctioneer Elowen instructed her to open the box. The staff member opened it, and the next second, a striking blue-and-red fruit came into view.

Immediately, everyone on the ground floor felt refreshed. They instantly knew it was a powerful treasure.

Inside the VIP rooms, gasps broke out as the occupants recognized the item.

Auctioneer Elowen heard the gasps coming from the VIP rooms. Understanding their shock, she declared, "It is a Grade-11 Herbal Magic Fruit."

Gasp!

Loud exclamations echoed throughout the VIP rooms.

They hadn’t expected to see a Magic Lord-level Herbal Magic Fruit. Now, they couldn’t wait to hear the starting price.

Meanwhile,

I raised an eyebrow inside my room. I had been expecting something else, not a herbal fruit and a Magic Lord-level fruit at that.

Even in Magic City, I would have to spend a substantial amount to purchase one.

Auctioneer Elowen stated, "The base price of this Herbal Fruit is 200,000 Mid-Grade Mana Stones."

Gasp!

Another wave of loud gasps erupted. The wizards on the ground floor could hardly believe the price.

"That’s a sky-high price!"

"Who can even bid for the final item?"

"I don’t know if anyone here has that kind of wealth."

The wizards began muttering questions one after another.

Inside the VIP rooms, a different kind of tension brewed. Everyone waited for someone to bid, but no one from the VIP section made a move right away.

"210,000!"

The female wizard made the opening bid.

Hearing that, the commotion quieted down. Now that she had initiated the bidding, the contest was bound to turn fierce.

Auctioneer Elowen was surprised as well; she hadn’t expected the female wizard to bid. But none of them knew that she had been waiting for this exact moment.

She had conserved her funds specifically for the final item.

Now that it was on display, she was fully prepared. She had already notified her guardian about the item and dispatched followers outside the city to call for backup.

"220,000!"

The deep male voice sounded once more. The bidder was determined to claim the item for himself.
