Black Tower
The factions inside the Black Tower learned about the attack on Darkmoon City. The message from Magic Lord Gaston had reached them.
The news caused a commotion inside the tower. There were not many staying in the tower, as most of them had gone on missions.
Fortunately, there were one or two Forbidden Wizards nearby. They were immediately told the news and ordered to save Darkmoon City.
The message sent by Magic Lord Gaston was short. Since the Magic Lord himself was requesting help, they understood that the situation was dire.
They had sent two Magic Lords earlier, as requested by City Lord Conrad. Despite the presence of the two Magic Lords, they still needed assistance.
This meant they needed a Forbidden Wizard. After receiving the order, the Forbidden Wizards departed from the Magic City.
The news was shared with other Forbidden Wizards as well. Those who were near Darkmoon City rushed to the location.
The Black Tower Elders present in the Mage Union received the news as well. They were taken aback, not knowing who had done this.
Even their rival Magic Towers-including the Silver Tower and others-did not dare do something like that. They immediately concluded that there was something more to it.
With the Forbidden Wizards dispatched, they waited to receive further reports.
Meanwhile,
The news reached the ears of the other Magic Towers as well, carried by the people fleeing from the city.
The other Magic Towers were shocked too. Everyone knew about Darkmoon City; it was the reverse scale of the Black Tower.
They certainly excluded the other Magic Towers from suspicion. It was the work of an outside enemy-likely the same enemy currently confronting the Mage Union.
Not many had uncovered the truth. Only the top Magic Towers had discovered the name of the Covenant: an old wizard organization with many puppet magic wizards.
...
Silver Tower
Manager Lara received the news as well. She immediately thought of Vincent Carey, who was last spotted in Rockwell City.
She did not know what he was going to do. She had already informed him about the decision of Elder Dana. Elder Dana and Lord Charlotte did not want Vincent to continue using the same method.
She was hoping to get a call back from him, but she had not received one. She immediately took out her device and made a call, but it failed to connect.
It showed mana interference once again. They were not near the city; they were likely traveling in the wilderness.
Buzz!
Her device buzzed. She saw that another member of the White Silver Faction was calling her, looking for updates.
She shifted her attention to the incoming call.
Meanwhile,
Susan Park, Wilfred Cox, and Jason Nicholson were at their family residences in the Magic City. They had all returned from the joint mission.
They were keeping an eye on news related to the Magic Towers and the Mage Union. The current crisis faced by the Mage Union had put the whole city on edge.
It was not just the people of the Magic City who were tense; the surrounding satellite cities were feeling the pressure as well. They feared that the enemies of the Mage Union might cause trouble for the local cities.
When the news about Darkmoon City reached Susan Park, Wilfred Cox, and Jason Nicholson, they and their families were taken aback.
They wanted to know what was going on, so they dispatched their family spies to gather intelligence. They were not the only ones; the other wizard families and organizations did the same.
...
Outside Territory
Holden Barrett and his followers were staying in one of the cities in the outer territory. They were on the trail of the unknown organization.
Ever since he had heard and read the reports on Vincent Carey’s appraisal team, he had taken his followers from one city to another as well.
They had successfully obtained details on the unknown wizard teams composed of Supreme Wizards, which was a huge breakthrough for them.
As long as they could capture one of them, Holden could extract more intel. At the same time, he remained curious about Vincent Carey and his whereabouts.
Even though he was away from the family, Butler Gideon always accompanied him. He summoned Butler Gideon to inquire about the latest news.
Butler Gideon took out his device and went through the recent reports. Seeing that there were no updates, he furrowed his brows.
Taking a deep breath, he said, "Master, there is no new news regarding Supreme Wizard Vincent Carey. He was last seen in Crystal City’s Appraisal Shop."
"But..." He hesitated to continue.
"What happened?" Holden asked.
"There is credible news that Forbidden Wizard Remi went to the Appraisal Shop in Crystal City, but he didn’t find Supreme Wizard Vincent," Gideon said.
"Supreme Wizard Vincent had left the city earlier. Nobody knows his current whereabouts except the White Silver Faction," he added.
"Hmph," Holden snorted coldly.
"He isn’t even in the picture, yet his members are doing the job for him and contributing more. I want to know which city they are in right now," Holden demanded.
"Appraiser Frank’s team was last spotted in Rockwell City. Since then, there has been no news about them. It appears they are traveling," Gideon added.
Hearing that, Holden fell silent, pondering deeply.
Buzz!
Butler Gideon’s device buzzed. He picked it up and saw a new message from the Silver Tower.
He opened and read it, his expression changing drastically. He could hardly believe the news.
"Master, there is an update from the Silver Tower. Darkmoon City, under the Black Tower, is currently under attack. The Forbidden Wizards from the Black Tower have departed from the Magic City," Gideon said in a serious tone.
Holden’s eyes flickered. Collecting his thoughts, he said, "To think Darkmoon City is under attack... It must be the work of the enemy. Let’s head to the city.
Hearing that, Gideon immediately obeyed and informed the followers to get ready.
