Darkmoon City
Magic Lord Gaston chased down the rats. But the rats had slipped away into different alleys. He could not use a magic spell here, as it could impact the city.
It was the same case for the enemies as well. He saw that they were all Supreme Wizards, which matched the description given by City Lord Conrad.
Swoosh!
In a flash, he appeared before two of them who were trying to escape in one direction.
"Stop," Gaston said to them.
Boom!
The next second, he released targeted mana pressure. The coercion hit them and brought them to their knees.
The two dark-clothed wizards were members of the Covenant. The pressure was overwhelming them, tearing at their bones and internal organs.
If this went on, they would be captured; a grim fate awaited them.
Boom!
Right then, an obese, middle-aged man and a lean person appeared before them. They were Lars and Sergei.
They immediately neutralized the pressure and targeted Magic Lord Gaston instead.
Boom!
The two Covenant Wizards broke free from the pressure and immediately fled the area.
"Boris was right. The Magic Lord was here," Lars said.
"Can we kill him?" Sergei asked.
Lars nodded before casting a magic spell.
Boom!
A black-colored magic circle appeared in the sky. The magic circle expanded in the blink of an eye, covering everyone like a dome.
Gaston was taken aback. He hadn’t expected Magic Lords to appear. Seeing the magic spell cast without hesitation, his expression changed drastically.
"Are you guys mad?"
"That spell attack will destroy the city!" Gaston shouted at them.
"Don’t worry, I have good control over my spell." After saying that, Lars completed the incantation.
Boom!
The next second, a massive tree emerged from the ground. It grew over 200 feet tall before stopping.
Gaston felt something was wrong. He had to make a decision.
Meanwhile,
The alarm continued to sound across the city. Crowds of people were rushing to the city gate. The city guards were finding it hard to control the mob already gathered there.
The people wanted to leave the city. The guards were allowing them to exit one by one, having received instructions to let the citizens evacuate.
Then everyone heard a loud crash and saw the massive, 200-foot-tall tree rising in the middle of the city. It sent chills down their spines.
Some of the locals were powerful wizards. They didn’t like having to exit the city one by one through the gate.
They immediately used their strength to break down the main gate. Once the main gate was gone, there was no need to stand in line.
A flood of people rushed out through the broken gate, especially after witnessing the towering tree in the heart of the city.
On the other hand, Magic Lord Boris spotted City Lord Conrad. He had received word that two Magic Lords had arrived.
They had been holding a discussion at the time; otherwise, they would have taken action earlier. Lars and Sergei had gone to kill the other Magic Lord.
Boris saw the City Lord, but there was no sign of a Magic Lord nearby. He spread his mental power to scan the entire area, but found no one else.
Swoosh!
He arrived directly before the City Lord, who was busy instructing his officials.
City Lord Conrad was taken aback by the sudden arrival. Before he could speak, he was completely pinned down by the man’s gaze.
Magic Lord Boris’s pupils shifted, they were no longer human.
City Lord Conrad was terrified to his core. He knew the enemy had arrived, and that this intruder was an exceptionally powerful wizard. Conrad couldn’t move his fingers or lift his body.
Conrad broke out into a cold sweat. The officials in the courtyard were terrified and fled the scene.
Magic Lord Boris savored the reaction. He raised his right hand, which began transforming into a monstrous limb covered in black scales and razor-sharp claws.
The blood drained completely from Conrad’s face.
Swoosh!
The next moment, Boris stood right in front of him. They stared directly into each other’s eyes.
Conrad’s forehead was drenched in beads of sweat. He had thought only a few rats had sneaked into the city, never expecting a monster like this to be among them.
If he had known, he would have summoned the Forbidden Wizards immediately.
"Where is the other Magic Lord?" Boris asked.
Hearing that, Conrad collected his thoughts. He knew that if he didn’t answer, he would die and that he would suffer the same fate even if he did.
Conrad couldn’t move his body. He desperately wanted to cast a spell, but he was completely immobilized.
Seeing that the City Lord remained silent, Magic Lord Boris made up his mind. They were going to conquer the city regardless, so the City Lord had to die.
The next second, he swept his right hand across Conrad’s neck. The claws cleaved cleanly through flesh and bone.
Puckak!
The head was cut off completely, tumbling across the stone floor. Blood spurted violently from the severed neck.
Thud!
The headless corpse of City Lord Conrad collapsed to the ground.
The people in the courtyard had already fled; there was no one left to witness the execution.
Magic Lord Boris canceled the spell.
His eyes and hand reverted to normal, and he vanished from the spot, setting out to hunt down the remaining figures of authority including the Heads and Elders of the major Wizard Families.
Along the way, he caught sight of the 200-foot-tall tree. He knew Lars had engaged the enemy Magic Lord.
Meanwhile,
Gaston knew things had gotten completely out of hand. He immediately cast a spell in retaliation.
The sky shifted violently. In the pitch-black night, heavy storm clouds gathered in an instant.
Seeing this, the expressions of Lars and Sergei changed drastically. They had not anticipated that his magical power could manipulate the climate.
Lars acted fast. Before Gaston’s atmospheric spell could unleash its full destructive power, the massive tree stirred, and its thick roots shot straight toward Magic Lord Gaston.
