Appraiser Frank appraised an old ledger for Manager Lara, secretly using his system to record its lost knowledge. He lied to Lara and City Lord Robert, claiming the book was too damaged to fully decipher. As night fell and the city grew fearful of renewed attacks by the covenant and a mad City Guard Captain, Robert prepared to patrol for rogue Supreme Wizards while the covenant and Amaira planned their next moves.

Rockwell City

City Lord Robert left the office. This time, he didn’t go back home. He was going to investigate the city, wanting to find the Supreme Wizard responsible for the crime.

He started from a remote part of the city. When he got there, he stood in mid-air, and his gaze swept across the place.

He knew about this back area; many small-time crimes happened here. It was also a living area for criminals, but none of those criminals were Supreme Wizards.

He wondered whether someone from the wizard families was committing the crimes. He spread his mental power, and it began to cover the area, crossing many residential buildings and parks.

Suddenly, he detected the presence of a Supreme Wizard. Robert raised his eyebrows and disappeared from the spot.

Swoosh!

When he reappeared, he was in front of a workshop, a vehicle repair shop. He didn’t enter directly, choosing instead to observe.

As a Magic Lord, his senses were far greater than those of Supreme Wizards. He immediately sensed six wizards inside.

One of them was a Supreme Wizard, but the rest were mid-level wizards. He wanted to know what was going on.

He then saw a tense confrontation between them.

Robert saw the Supreme Wizard attack the workers all of a sudden. It was plain mana pressure. The pressure crushed the bodies of the workers.

Thud!

Their bodies flew backward before crashing to the ground. Different body parts were broken, and they were bleeding from their orifices.

Robert’s eyes flashed with a glint. He noticed that the mana release was executed with superb control; it didn’t destroy surrounding objects, but when it landed on the wizards, it destroyed their bodies.

The Supreme Wizard was dressed in black clothes, his face covered in black cloth, and he wore a black cap. Robert suspected that this person could be the masked man.

It was just that the mask was not a typical face mask, but black cloth. His anger flared up.

Even Amaira from the Covenant wouldn’t have expected such a turnaround—one of the Covenant members using black cloth to cover their face.

The Supreme Wizard in the room had started acting. He knew from previous raids that small shops often held wealth with no security.

After killing everyone, he concealed his mana pressure. Next, the Supreme Wizard began to search the room.

City Lord Robert lost his composure. Next, he entered the workshop and came face-to-face with the Supreme Wizard.

"Who are you?" Robert asked.

He clearly felt that the Supreme Wizard was not from around here. Not only that, but he also sensed a disgustingly evil mana coming from his body, showing that the Supreme Wizard was an outsider.

The Supreme Wizard here was none other than a Covenant member. Upon seeing City Lord Robert, he was not afraid.

He met Robert’s gaze directly. Before the City Lord could do anything, he took out a suspicious scroll from his storage ring and activated it.

Boom! Boom!

Several explosions sounded nearby. The City Lord’s expression changed.

Boom!

Right then, the scroll caught fire and exploded the next second. The power stored inside the scroll burst out with incredible force.

It was comparable to the level of a Magic Lord. The huge explosion covered the whole workshop and nearby areas.

Boom!

Robert released his mana pressure to withstand the attack. He didn’t expect the enemy to be suicidal. The walls were gone, and the rooftop was no more.

When the aftermath settled, the City Lord noticed that the enemy was nowhere to be found. His expression turned ugly.

Commotion!

After hearing the sounds of commotion, residents walked out of their homes, heading toward the site.

Robert left the area. He appeared in mid-air and saw that many buildings were on fire. He thought it was prearranged by the killer.

He was now certain that an Evil Supreme Wizard had infiltrated the city. Without waiting any longer, he informed the city officials back at the office.

A few seconds later,

Buzz!

An alarm sounded across the whole city, activated by the city officials. The alarm signaled an ongoing crisis facing the city.

Locals were not allowed to leave their homes, and shops needed to be shut down. No one was allowed to roam the streets or public places, and everyone would be questioned.

Locals needed to report any suspicious activity. City Lord Robert went to the burning buildings to quell the fire, having already issued orders to his officials on what to do next.

As time passed, he used controlled mana pressure to extinguish the fires.

At the same time, news officials shared the story with media outlets, reporting it as breaking news:

[An unknown Evil Supreme Wizard killed workers in a remote area and set several buildings on fire. Locals are advised not to leave their homes.]

His appearance was reported on the news as well: anyone who saw a person dressed in black clothes with their face covered in cloth should report it immediately.

Meanwhile,

City Guard Captain Roger, who had been planning to commit a crime earlier, was shocked. He was standing in front of one of the small business shops.

The sound of the alarm shook him. The people in the shop started watching the news, and everyone learned what had happened.

An unknown Evil Supreme Wizard had infiltrated the city and was now committing crimes.

The most confused person was none other than Roger. He had not allowed an Evil Supreme Wizard to enter the city; he had only permitted visitors, including wandering wizards, to enter.

Everyone had supporting IDs. Now he was worried. City Lord Robert might question him later. Though Robert was occupied right now, he would definitely do so afterward.

Roger was angry. He had expected something else to happen. He had wanted to draw attention to the visitors; specifically, he had wanted to pin the blame on the masked man.

He hadn’t expected an Evil Supreme Wizard to appear all of a sudden. When he saw the news description matching the black cloth mask, he was left stunned.
