Frank successfully passes through border inspection into the Skycrest Kingdom using a special badge. He is astonished to see people riding large, flying crocodile-like monsters called skycrocks, which are used for transportation and combat. He meets David, a Rank-10 Armored Wizard, who explains that these monsters are unique to the Skycrest Kingdom, which was founded on land once inhabited by powerful monsters.

Arken Port City

The monster carriage reached the city one hour later. David didn’t stop explaining. He wanted me to know important things.

Especially, certain do’s and don’ts.

Since the border was located next to the open sea, a port city was built here. It’s also the border city. It acts as an important battle fort during times of war.

So there is no opportunity for outsiders to cause trouble here. If they do create a problem here, then they will face the consequences.

The flying monsters are not only tamed for transport services; they are used in hunting as well. So those who come from outside behave themselves here.

The monster carriage flew over the 100ft city wall. The Skycrock minders easily flew past others.

It didn’t take long for the monster to reach the platform. It slowly landed next to other monster carriages.

David said, "You are new here. I don’t know what the purpose of your trip is, but let me tell you something important. Don’t roam around sensitive places."

"If you want to explore the city, just hire a guide. He knows what to do. He will avoid taking you to dangerous places," he added.

A look of understanding dawned on me. I didn’t want to casually inquire about the Opal Magic Forest. I could be suspected.

It was better to find out the information myself.

"If you know any guide, you can tell me," I said to David.

Hearing that, David was surprised. He was just about to talk about that. He didn’t expect me to bring it up.

"Here is the card. Take it. You can contact him later and give him my name. He won’t charge high fees." After saying that, he gave the visiting card to me.

I accepted the card and placed it inside the system space. Then I talked for a few minutes before leaving the place.

I came across another cab driver and spoke to him. Since I didn’t know about the hotels here, I initiated a conversation with him.

The driver was talkative. He introduced a few hotels to me. I decided to select a good hotel. A hotel named Black View seemed interesting to me.

According to the driver, the most important people choose to stay in that hotel. I could use the help of the Zero Puppet to collect information.

I was sure it was the right way to collect intel.

Then I asked the driver to take me to the Black View Hotel.

Twenty minutes later,

The cab driver dropped me in front of the Black View Hotel. I paid the fare to the driver before looking at the hotel.

It was a towering building with a black, fort-like infrastructure. It appeared they had constructed it in an old watchtower building style.

I collected my thoughts and walked to the door. Then I walked inside the hotel to look around the place. Inside, the vibe was good and aesthetic.

It was not old-school like the outside. The lighting was done well too; it matched the taste of rich people. The wall paint was a terracotta color.

It matched perfectly with the good, minimalist lights. Then I turned towards the help desk and walked up to them.

I saw three staff members who were middle-aged. They were dressed in black clothes. One of them was male and the other two were female.

"How may I help you?" the female staff member asked.

Hearing that, I said, "I need a spacious room with a balcony view."

The staff smiled. They understood I was a big customer.

"We have rooms available. The price of the room for a day and night is 100 mid-grade mana stones," the female staff member said.

"Alright," I agreed.

Then I paid 500 mid-grade mana stones upfront. I booked the room for 5 days. If I booked the room for a month, it would arouse suspicion.

Then I got the keys. One of the staff members led me to the room. On the way, I initiated small talk. I wanted to know about the hotel.

The staff member smiled and revealed some information. Since it was a border city, it was important to the kingdom. So, important people preferred to stay at this hotel.

The backer of the hotel had connections to the ruling royal family as well. So, people had no problems when it comes to safety and security.

Soon, we reached the third floor. He handed over the keys and showed me how to use them, because there were three keys for one door.

Creak!

When the door opened, he gave the keys to me.

"If you need anything, you can call us from the device in the room." After saying that, the male staff member left the room.

I turned toward the room and walked inside. I shut the door and used the key to lock it.

Then I placed the keys on the table and walked to the living room. As I had guessed, the room was wide and spacious it was enough for a small family to live in.

I used the power of the system to scan the whole room. I didn’t find anything dangerous. Then I came out to the balcony. The view from the balcony side was gorgeous.

The whole city spanned across acres. Skyscrapers could be seen everywhere. The city was no less grand than any powerful city, yet it was a remote port city.

What would the main city of the Kingdom look like? I gasped inwardly. Then I calmed my heart. I should not underestimate this city.

If I wanted to get information on the Opal Magic Forest, then I should be careful. I decided to explore the city tomorrow.

I would release the Zero Puppet then to collect intel. There was no need to act now. After gaining some clarity in my thoughts, I felt confident.

Next, I went to take a bath. The shower lasted for 20 minutes. I walked out and changed into fresh clothes. Then, my gaze fell on the communication device.

I picked up the device, walked over to the sofa, and sat down. Then I turned it on. The features were familiar.

So, I began to watch the news on the device.
