The protagonist successfully upgraded his mana core-eating artifact into a Magic Lord-level living artifact after absorbing an antique ore. Meanwhile, a golden-haired Supreme Wizard named Loyd, a distant royal relative, arrived at the inn with officials, intending to identify and enslave the Supreme Wizard staying there for his private security team using a bloodline magic spell derived from his Golden Lion heritage.

Goldkeep City

Within the confines of the room, a system alert signaled impending danger. In the subsequent moment, I found myself materialized inside the Gregor Mansion.

Creak!

Almost instantly, a contingent of wizards breached the room, their objective being the apprehension of a guest. To their surprise, no one was present. They searched the room thoroughly but found no trace of the individual.

The wizards exchanged bewildered glances. The inn manager had been insistent that someone was indeed lodged there. Consequently, the constables retreated from the room and descended to the ground floor.

Upon reaching their superior, they delivered their report.

"Lord, the room was entirely devoid of occupants," one of them stated.

Loyd's brow furrowed upon hearing this news, leaving the inn manager utterly perplexed. In the blink of an eye, he hurried back to the room.

His gaze meticulously scanned the premises. The chamber was undeniably empty. To his utter astonishment, the inn manager felt a chill crawl down his spine. He employed his mental power to probe the area. The room was genuinely vacant. Cold sweat began to bead on the manager's forehead. He dreaded facing the wrath of Lord Loyd.

The notoriously volatile lord would not depart without securing his target. The manager was at a complete loss.

Thud!

The very next instant, the sound of approaching footsteps reached his ears. The inn manager whipped around to see Lord Loyd and several other individuals entering.

It became immediately apparent to them that no one was currently within the room.

"Did the individual depart without prior notification?" Loyd inquired.

In response, the inn manager stammered, "Lord, it is possible that the person is currently exploring the city. I cannot ascertain when they left the premises."

"They did not complete the customary room checkout procedure," he added.

Loyd, upon hearing this, refrained from an immediate outburst. As long as the quarry remained within the city's confines, apprehension was still feasible.

"Let us proceed; we must apprehend him before he manages to exit the city." With these words, Loyd and his retinue departed.

Having exited the inn, they made their way to the city's main gate. Loyd instructed the waiting guards to initiate a search. They requested identification papers from passersby.

Loyd then dispatched someone to procure the individual's ID number from the inn manager. It wasn't long before the operative returned with the necessary identification details.

The city gate guards cross-referenced the information, revealing the identity of the individual who had entered the city: the masked Supreme Wizard. Loyd reviewed the accompanying image.

He proceeded to duplicate the image and disseminate it among the influential factions within the city, soliciting their assistance in capturing the elusive figure. He anticipated that securing their cooperation would result in a future debt of gratitude. The news disseminated throughout the city with astonishing speed, akin to wildfire.

All corners of Goldkeep City became aware of Loyd Lion, a scion of the esteemed Golden Lion Royal Family. The prospect of earning his favor was considered a monumental boon for any individual or their lineage.

Consequently, a city-wide hunt commenced. However, the available depiction was merely of the masked individual, not their true face.

Simultaneously, the magic emporium bustled with activity. Yet, the store's manager also received the dispatch.

Upon learning that Loyd Lion was actively seeking someone, a flicker of disdain crossed his features.

He opened the message to peruse its contents. The image displayed caused him to start. Despite the disguise, he recognized the young man who had recently acquired antique ores from his establishment.

He surmised the reason behind Lord Loyd Lion's pursuit. It was common knowledge that Loyd Lion maintained ties with the royal administration.

This particular individual was reportedly engaged in the clandestine formation of a private militia, possessing knowledge of the coveted secret magic spell associated with the Golden Lion Bloodline.

The old man let out a dismissive snort. He had no inclination to divulge any information. He disregarded the message and returned to his own pressing duties.

Time elapsed.

While other factions scoured the city for the masked figure, the city guard significantly augmented their patrols. They meticulously scrutinized individuals seeking entry into the city.

Furthermore, a detachment was dispatched to investigate the encampments of wandering sorcerers in the vicinity, harboring the suspicion that the masked individual might be lying low there.

Loyd Lion retreated to his sprawling mansion, awaiting reports of success. Historically, no one had ever eluded his grasp once targeted.

He was confident that the entire city was now engaged in the search for the masked individual. He then turned his attention to other pressing matters.

Meanwhile,

I suddenly reappeared within the room. Though the exact circumstances remained unclear, I sensed the inn manager and his associates were actively searching for me.

Could it be that the factions here are targeting wandering cultivators? I mused, shaking my head. I had initially perceived this city as a haven.

However, it transpired that this city, like any other, harbored its own set of troubles. Foregoing the mask, I exited the room and descended to the ground floor.

Attracted by the sound, the inn manager hurried forward. In an instant, I delivered a swift blow to his neck, rendering him unconscious.

The inn manager crumpled to the ground, having lost consciousness.

I then departed the inn, making my way towards the city gates. There, I observed the guards interrogating individuals and demanding identification from those attempting to leave.

Witnessing this scene, a frown creased my brow. It was becoming evident that exiting the city would not be a simple undertaking. My gaze then shifted towards the various conveyances prepared for departure.

Among these, several airships loomed majestically in the sky. A swift decision formed in my mind. I approached a nearby cab driver, requesting passage to the airship terminus.

A few minutes hence,

The aerial taxi swiftly journeyed towards the air station, arriving in good time. Upon disembarking and settling the fare with the driver, I proceeded towards the main entrance.

A considerable number of passengers were currently purchasing their tickets at the counter. I scanned the vicinity, eventually spotting the station workers who were making their way through a separate gate, heading towards the airships.

As they were recognized personnel, no checks were performed on them. Capitalizing on this, I approached the gate and entered the station through the same unrestricted passage.

Inside, airships of diverse dimensions were visible. My attention was drawn to a particular airship that appeared to be on the verge of departure. Two other airships displayed decks teeming with passengers.

These vessels were all prepared for their imminent journeys. I then followed the station workers towards the closest airship.

My presence went unnoticed by the crew as they ascended the steps to the deck. No inspections were conducted at this entry point. I managed to slip inside with surprising ease.

I reached the deck undetected, just as the others had. The passengers remained oblivious to my infiltration. I made my way to the storeroom, and from there, I materialized within the confines of Gregor Mansion.
