Facing a language barrier, the old man departs to find help, leaving the protagonist to care for the girl, who has only half a month left to live.
Stone House

As the hours ticked by, I remained in wait for the elder, but he never returned. A sense of unease began to creep in.

I couldn't possibly abandon the young girl without protection. What if the assailant decided to return? She could be targeted once more.

It felt like a stroke of luck that a mystical herb existed, capable of mitigating the poison within the little one's system.

When nightfall arrived, the young girl remained in a semi-conscious state, not yet fully awake. Witnessing this, a flicker of hesitation crossed my mind.

However, I resolved to conduct a swift reconnaissance of the surroundings. I stepped out from the confines of the stone house.

Traversing the courtyard, I activated the system's scanning function, probing the area thoroughly, yet found no trace of the elder. My eyes narrowed with a surge of vexation.

The sky above was a canvas of darkness, dotted with twinkling stars. Curiously, the environment pulsed with a rich abundance of mana, starkly contrasting the desolate lands I was accustomed to. My observations continued.

Abruptly, the system issued a critical alert.

[Ding! An unknown wizard has been detected]

[Ding! The wizard appears to be a Supreme Wizard]

I registered the system's pronouncements. A disquieting notion began to form. I pondered whether this approaching wizard posed a threat or not.

If it were the elder, the system would not have classified him as a Supreme Wizard. Therefore, the individual approaching was a newcomer.

Swoosh!

I swiftly retreated back into the stone house. My attention immediately locked onto the ten-year-old girl. I hastened to her side.

In the very next instant, I transported her to the safety of the Gregor Mansion. Subsequently, I proceeded to the control room to monitor the surveillance feeds.

On the screens, I observed a middle-aged man with brown hair, clad in black armor, entering the room.

He possessed a robust physique, and his features bore a rugged appearance. The middle-aged man seemed to be in a considerable rush.

His gaze swept across the room, searching every corner, but he found no indication of the girl's presence. He then approached the bed and noticed the disheveled state of the sheets.

Discovering further evidence that the girl had indeed occupied the bed recently, he grew agitated.

Visibly frustrated, the brown-haired man uttered a curse in the local tongue. He surmised that the elder had spirited the girl away, yet he felt he lacked the strength to confront him.

From the control room, I meticulously observed his actions via the mirror. It was evident that this individual was actively seeking the young girl.

What course of action should I take now? Just then, I saw the middle-aged man departing the premises, his frustration palpable.

A faint sense of relief flickered in my eyes.

A few minutes later, I emerged once more with the girl. I carefully placed her back onto the bed and then stepped away. The man was nowhere to be seen.

Buzz!

The system then pinged me again: the middle-aged man had not actually departed. He remained within the vicinity.

Swoosh!

Before I could fully process the notification, a silhouette surged towards me. It was none other than the armored wizard.

He materialized in an instant, standing directly before me. The brown-haired man fixed his gaze upon me with clear intent.

"Who are you?" he inquired, though his words were spoken in the native language.

I took a moment to assess the man. He bore the unmistakable signs of having come from a battlefield; his face was marred with bruises and scars.

Though I could not comprehend his language, the tone of his voice mirrored that of the elder.

Therefore, I employed a hand gesture to signify my status as a newcomer.

Misinterpreting my gesture, the brown-haired man assumed I was both deaf and mute.

He wasted no further words. His eyes landed on the room, and he caught sight of the girl's silhouette. Seeing that she had returned, he moved swiftly inside.

A spark ignited in my eyes.

I made no move to impede him. My decision was to observe and wait. Given that the individual was a Supreme Wizard, I was confident in my ability to handle him effortlessly.

The armored wizard entered the room. He observed the girl resting on the bed and let out a sigh of relief.

He then noticed that, despite her unconsciousness, her complexion had improved noticeably.

He resolved to take the girl from this location. Lifting her gently, he exited the stone house.

I monitored his movements. He displayed no overt malicious intent—or so I wrongly assumed.

As the armored wizard passed me, a chilling killing intent flashed across his face. He clearly did not wish for a stranger to be privy to his actions.

He seemed to have a sudden thought, as he turned back and re-entered the room. He carefully placed the little girl back onto the bed.

Swoosh!

He departed the room without delay and reappeared before me. A broad, menacing grin spread across his face.

"You are in the wrong place at the wrong time," the middle-aged man declared before unleashing a magical spell.

Dark, concentric circles materialized in front of him.

With astonishing speed, they became charged. A dark magical spell erupted forth from the swirling circles.

Boom!

A torrent of black magic power hurtled towards me.

"Repulsive Force."

I countered with a spell of my own. Gray magical power emanated from my body, spreading outwards like a wave before colliding with the incoming black magic.

Boom!

A tremendous explosion ensued. The repulsive force successfully neutralized his magic and continued its onward trajectory towards the brown-haired man.

The middle-aged man recoiled in shock. He had not anticipated his magic being rendered ineffective.

Before he could even process the turn of events, the errant magical power struck his body. The impact was instantaneous.

Boom!

A thunderous clamor erupted. The middle-aged man was violently flung from his position.
