"Is there a large group declining the new positions?" Xia Ruofei inquired.

"Not many, perhaps a dozen or so!" Ma Jia replied. "However, two of them are vital members of the team: Wu Jiasong and Zhong Lin."

The names registered instantly with Xia Ruofei. He was quite familiar with the pair, as both hailed from the Lone Wolf assault team. Wu Jiasong served as the security company's instructor, while Zhong Lin held the position of Deputy Company Commander for the transport unit. Although Xia Ruofei hadn't been close with them during his active service since they were in the security wing of the Lone Wolf team, he had met them later. When he returned to the Lone Wolf assault team to recruit veterans, the 'Wolf King' Guo Zhan had hosted a dinner for him. During that meeting, Guo Zhan had introduced several top-tier retiring officers, Wu Jiasong and Zhong Lin among them.

Xia Ruofei chuckled and remarked, "So it's those two! I recall the Wolf King recommending them. They were caught in the middle of the military restructuring and were slated for job transfers. Initially, they opted for discharge to start their own ventures with their savings. It was only when I showed up to recruit for the security detail that they had a change of heart and joined the Peach Blossom security team."

"That’s correct!" Ma Jia confirmed. "Back then, they signed on with the Paradise guards because they were attracted to the high-tech weaponry and equipment used by foreign militaries. Beyond that, they enjoyed the familiarity of military-style living and the superior pay. Now that the Paradise force is disbanding and pulling out, they don't have much interest in the new roles, whether in Australia or at the Paradise Corporation headquarters in China. Since they've saved a fortune over these years—enough to fund any startup—the two of them reached this conclusion quite quickly."

"Are the others leaving for similar reasons?" Xia Ruofei asked.

"Pretty much," Ma Jia said with a nod. "A few plan to partner with Wu Jiasong and Zhong Lin in their new business, while others need to head back to their hometowns due to family matters. They’ve earned plenty of money over the last few years, after all."

After a moment of reflection, Xia Ruofei said, "Understood. Forced cooperation never yields good results. If this is what they want, we should support them. Old Company Commander, let’s do this: I will personally provide a 150,000 US dollar payment to every brother who chooses to leave. Call it a severance package or a personal gift from me. Go to the guard tomorrow and announce this. If anyone else wants to resign voluntarily under these terms, we won't stand in their way!"

Ma Jia paused briefly before nodding. "Understood! I'll call a meeting tomorrow to discuss it with everyone."

Previously, when Xia Ruofei had tried to gift Ma Jia a house, he had been met with a stern and immediate refusal. However, Ma Jia couldn't reject this offer on behalf of the departing brothers. This involved the livelihood of many men, and it wasn't his place to turn down such generosity for them.

"That's the estimate," Ma Jia replied. "Once the new compensation is announced tomorrow, some minds might change. But even if they do, it just means we have fewer people to find spots for."

Xia Ruofei nodded. "That's fine. When the time comes, everyone will head back to China and get settled in Sanshan. For those headed to Australia, the company will issue formal invitations and help them process their passports and visas. It shouldn't be a major issue. As for those joining the domestic branch of Paradise Corporation, we can finalize their paperwork as soon as we return to the Three Mountains!"

Xia Ruofei added with a grin, "Old Company Commander, is there a need for such formality when it's just us? You said 'Reporting'... just speak! What is the status?"

"It's a similar story," Ma Jia noted. "Some are joining the business with Wu and Zhong, while others are returning home to handle personal affairs. They've made a lot of money these past few years, so they have the freedom to do so."
