God-tier Farm Chapter 3886 An orderly evacuation (1)

Xia Ruofei gave a light smile and remarked, "Old Company Commander, is there really a need for such formality when it’s just us? 'Report'... just speak! Tell me, what is the situation?"
"It seems a few of our brothers aren't interested in the positions you've offered," Ma Jia explained. "Their plan is to head out and start their own businesses..."
The news didn't catch Xia Ruofei off guard. With over 150 men in the guard unit, it was natural for everyone to have their own ambitions. He knew it was unrealistic to expect every single person to stay on once the Peach Source Island guards were evacuated. Besides, transitioning to work back in China would mean a significant pay cut for them.
Over the last few years, even a standard security guard had been earning roughly 30,000 USD a month. This meant each man had accumulated well over a million dollars. Bringing that kind of capital back to China made the prospect of self-employment very attractive, which Xia Ruofei found perfectly reasonable.
Xia Ruofei didn't take it personally at all. His original offer of employment stemmed from a sense of camaraderie and his responsibility as the one who recruited them. If they preferred to move on, he had no intention of forcing them to stay.
"How many people are we talking about who are turning down the jobs?" Xia Ruofei inquired.
"Not a huge number, maybe a dozen or so," Ma Jia replied. "However, two of them are core members of the team: Wu Jiasong and Zhong Lin."
The names immediately rang a bell for Xia Ruofei. He knew them well from their time in the Lone Wolf Assault Team. Wu Jiasong had served as the security company’s instructor, while Zhong Lin was the Deputy Company Commander of the transport unit. Though they were part of the same security detail in the Lone Wolf team, Xia Ruofei hadn't been intimately acquainted with them during his active service. It was only later, when he returned to the Lone Wolf Assault Team to recruit veterans, that Wolf King Guo Zhan introduced them over dinner as exceptional retired officers, specifically recommending Wu Jiasong and Zhong Lin.
"So it's those two!" Xia Ruofei said with a smile. "I recall the Wolf King mentioning them. They were caught in the middle of the military reforms and were slated for job transfers. Initially, they chose to be discharged to use their funds for business ventures. It was only when I showed up to recruit for the security detail that they changed their minds at the last minute to join the Peach Blossom team."
"That’s right," Ma Jia nodded in agreement. "Back then, they joined the Paradise guards because they were drawn to the high-tech foreign weaponry and equipment we used. They also enjoyed the familiar military lifestyle and the excellent pay. Now that the Paradise force is disbanding and pulling out, they aren't keen on new roles, whether in Australia or at the Paradise Corporation headquarters in China. They’ve saved up a fortune over these past few years—plenty to fund a startup. So, they made their choice quite decisively."
"Are the others in a similar boat?" asked Xia Ruofei.
"Pretty much," Ma Jia confirmed. "Some want to partner up with Wu Jiasong and Zhong Lin, while a few others need to return to their hometowns due to family matters. They’ve earned enough these past few years to afford that choice."
Xia Ruofei pondered for a moment before speaking. "Fair enough. A forced union is never fruitful. Since this is what they want, we should support them. Old Company Commander, let’s do this: I will personally provide a 150,000 USD payout to every brother who chooses to leave. Call it a severance package or a personal gift from me. Go to the guard unit tomorrow and announce this. If anyone else wants to change their mind and resign voluntarily under these terms, we won't stand in their way."
Ma Jia paused briefly, then nodded and said, "Understood. I'll get everyone together tomorrow to discuss this!"
When Xia Ruofei had previously tried to gift Ma Jia a house, the reaction had been a flat, stern rejection. However, Ma Jia couldn't refuse this gesture toward the departing brothers. This involved the welfare of many men, and he couldn't simply turn it down on their behalf.
Even in a typical corporate setting, layoffs required compensation, usually following an N+1 or similar policy. Of course, Xia Ruofei’s offer was far more generous, fueled by their shared history in the trenches.
Xia Ruofei smiled. "So, based on the current count, about 100 men want to stay with Paradise Corporation, while over a dozen are leaving. Does that mean roughly 30 to 40 people are choosing the Australian assignment?"
"That's the estimate," Ma Jia nodded. "Though once the new compensation is announced tomorrow, the numbers might shift. But regardless, the number of people we need to find positions for will likely only decrease."
Xia Ruofei nodded thoughtfully. "That’s fine. When the time comes, everyone will head back to China and settle in Sanshan first. For those heading to work abroad, the company will issue official invitations and help them process their passports and visas. It shouldn't be much of a hurdle. As for those joining the Paradise Corporation locally, we can get them settled very quickly once we're back in the Three Mountains!"
