God-tier Farm Chapter 2

Previously on God-tier Farm...
Xia Ruofei, a recently retired soldier, finds himself navigating the stark contrasts of Three Mountain City after selling his grandfather's house to help his late comrade's ailing mother. With only a couple of hundred yuan left to his name, he makes his way through a run-down shantytown, where he unexpectedly hears a woman’s panicked cry for help. Despite his usual reluctance to get involved, he feels compelled to intervene, witnessing a troubling scene as three drunken men corner a frightened girl.

Xia Ruofei pondered the situation. What was such a striking young woman doing in this area by herself? It seemed like she was practically inviting trouble.

“Help! Big Brother… please save me…” Upon spotting Xia Ruofei, the girl cried out, reaching for him as if he were her last hope for survival.

Because this location was so secluded and rarely saw any foot traffic, the three thugs had felt emboldened to act with drunken arrogance.

Clearly caught off guard by an intruder, the hoodlums stared at Xia Ruofei in shock as he stood at the alleyway's entrance.

Their leader, a punk with dyed yellow hair, looked Xia Ruofei over before letting out a chilling laugh.

“Oh! A soldier! Do you think you're some hero coming to rescue a damsel in distress? I'm feeling generous today, so I won't cause you any grief. If you're smart, you'll beat it!”

Xia Ruofei maintained a steady, calm gaze on the yellow-haired gangster.

“You have three seconds to release that girl. Do it, and I'll act like this never happened.”

Stunned for a moment, the yellow-haired thug looked at his two friends before all three exploded into mocking laughter.

Pointing a finger directly at Xia Ruofei’s nose, the yellow-haired leader began to curse.

“You bastard! Has your time as a soldier made you f*cking senile? Who do you think you’re talking to…”

“Time is up,” Xia Ruofei whispered.

The words had barely left his lips when the yellow-haired thug’s vision blurred. Xia Ruofei, who had been two meters away, closed the distance in an instant.

Suddenly, a massive force slammed into the gangster’s torso. He was sent flying backward, landing hard on his backside in a puddle. Stinking, filthy sewage water sprayed across his entire body.

The attack was so lightning-fast that none of the three hoodlums had the chance to even move.

Shocked by the sheer power of Xia Ruofei’s strike, a flicker of terror appeared in the thugs' eyes.

However, Xia Ruofei was frowning, lost in his own thoughts.

“This cursed sickness is getting even worse…”

He had felt a wave of weakness wash through his limbs during the strike. Normally, that kick would have completely incapacitated the yellow-haired man. Instead, though drenched in filth, the man was already scrambling back to his feet.

Emboldened by the alcohol, the yellow-haired punk reached for his waist. The fear vanished as he felt the weapon tucked there. Glaring at Xia Ruofei with pure malice, he drew a dagger and licked his lips with a grim expression.

“Kid, you’re looking for a grave…”

The other two ruffians released the girl and pulled out their own blades. They moved to encircle Xia Ruofei from all sides.

The girl gasped, covering her mouth in terror.

With a calm expression, Xia Ruofei moved to keep the girl behind him. He clenched his teeth and charged toward the three attackers.

Watching his lean frame, the girl’s eyes clouded with tears; in that moment, his silhouette seemed to grow towering and invincible.

Xia Ruofei executed a perfect kick to the yellow-haired man’s shoulder. A sickening crack echoed through the alley, and the leader collapsed, howling in agony. Facing the three lunging blades, Xia Ruofei showed no mercy.

After neutralizing the leader, Xia Ruofei twisted his body to evade another thug’s blade. The cold steel flashed inches from his face, a dangerously close call that made the girl shriek.

The remaining two hoodlums shared a look, gritted their teeth, and swung their daggers in a desperate rush.

Advancing calmly, Xia Ruofei looked for an opening to disarm them. His footwork was precise, ensuring he always remained a shield between the girl and the attackers.

Finding a gap, Xia Ruofei lunged forward and gripped one thug’s wrist with total accuracy.

In his prime, he would have snapped that wrist instantly. But once again, a sudden frailty sapped the strength from his muscles.

He cursed his condition internally. Straining against the weakness, he pulled the hoodlum toward him and dodged to the side.

Despite his efforts, he was a fraction of a second too slow. A glint of steel sliced through the air, and with a sharp tearing sound, the other thug’s dagger ripped through Xia Ruofei’s camouflage uniform. A deep gash opened on his arm, and crimson blood began to spill.

Ignoring the injury, Xia Ruofei didn't even flinch as he slammed his elbow into the attacker's face, knocking him out cold. He then pivoted, grabbing the last thug’s arm and executing a shoulder throw that slammed the man into the pavement with a heavy thud.

The thug’s eyes rolled back as he lost consciousness.

The girl stood frozen in disbelief. She hadn't expected this slender man to possess such incredible strength. In under twenty seconds, he had taken down all three men with his bare hands!

Xia Ruofei, however, was displeased. If not for that wretched illness, these clumsy street thugs wouldn't have lasted a single move. Getting wounded by them was an embarrassment to his Special Forces background!

He gave a bitter, self-deprecating shake of his head, looking down at his shaking hands. Was there truly no cure for his state?

Pushing his emotions aside, he looked at the girl and spoke.

“You need to get out of here quickly. This area isn't safe, and you shouldn't be wandering around alone.”

“Thank you! I understand…” the girl replied, her voice filled with gratitude.

Then, she let out a small gasp.

“Oh no! You’re bleeding!”

Xia Ruofei glanced at the wound on his arm with complete indifference and dismissed her concern with a wave of his hand.

“It’s nothing. Just a scratch.”

“I… I should take you to a hospital to get that dressed!” the girl insisted. “You were hurt because of me!”

“That's not necessary. Go home. I need to head back as well,” Xia Ruofei replied, shaking his head.

“I can’t just leave it! What if you get an infection?” The girl grabbed his sleeve, pleading, “Please, let’s go to the hospital. I’ll walk with you!”

Gently pulling his arm away, Xia Ruofei said,

“There is really no need. Goodbye.”

With that, he turned and walked away. The girl tried to follow, but she had twisted her ankle during the struggle with the thugs. Limping and unable to keep pace with Xia Ruofei’s swift stride, she could only call out after him.

“Wait! I don’t even know your name!”

Xia Ruofei offered no answer. He simply waved his hand over his shoulder and vanished around the corner of a building.

Terrified by the sight of the screaming leader and the two unconscious men, the girl didn't dare linger. She cast one last long look toward where Xia Ruofei had disappeared before limping away from the alley.

Xia Ruofei soon arrived back at his new home. It was a cramped room, less than ten square meters in size, containing little more than a bed and a small table.

He reached under the bed and pulled out a storage box to search through it.

Having just moved in, he hadn't yet unpacked before leaving to send money to Hu Zi’s mother.

He recalled packing a first-aid kit in this specific suitcase. Since the cut on his arm was both long and deep, it required immediate attention.

The contents of the box were a jumble. It held military medals from his service, trinkets from his old squad mates, and a few heirlooms from his late grandfather. Finding the small medical kit in the mess was proving difficult.

As he rummaged, Xia Ruofei failed to notice a single drop of blood fall from his wound. It landed directly onto an unremarkable scroll tucked inside the box.

The moment the blood touched the scroll’s surface, it vanished instantly, like a snowflake hitting a hot stove.

Having tasted Xia Ruofei’s blood, the scroll suddenly began to radiate a soft, golden light, catching his attention.

Xia Ruofei froze in surprise. What was happening?
