Gabriel unleashes his full power, overwhelming the Ant King and brutally defeating it. As the Ant King lay dying, it questioned why humans attacked their home when they only sought survival. Gabriel explained that the world is ruled by the strong, and the Ant King was simply too weak. Before dying, the Ant King asked Gabriel for one final favor.

The Ant King remained silent for a long time.

The crimson eyes that had once burned with hatred and murderous intent were gradually losing their brilliance. The enormous wound through his chest continued to pour out purple blood. Every labored breath came weaker than the last, and his body had long since lost the overwhelming majesty that had made the wasteland feel too small to hold him.

Only after a long while did he slowly raise his head and look at Gabriel, who stood only a short distance away.

In a hoarse, weakened voice, he finally spoke.

"I... do have one final request."

Gabriel did not interrupt him, nor did he urge him to continue. He simply stood there, patiently waiting for the Ant King to finish what he wanted to say.

The Ant King slowly shifted his gaze toward the rear of the battlefield, where the swarm had waited in tight formation before he had drawn their life into himself. A complicated emotion surfaced in his eyes.

There was no anger.

No hatred.

No resentment.

There was only the final concern of a king who, at the end of his life, could think of nothing except the future of his people.

"Behind the brood trench... there is still a batch of unhatched royal eggs. They know nothing about any of this. They never took part in this war, nor have they ever harmed a single human. They have not even truly seen this world yet..."

He slowly closed his eyes, his voice growing weaker with every word.

"I hope... you can take care of them in my place. Help them hatch safely... so that the ant race... may continue to exist... instead of disappearing from this world forever."

Hearing those words, Gabriel fell into silence.

His eyes swept across the devastated battlefield around him: the scorched earth, the cracked stone, the thorn corridor reduced to gray ash, and the countless ant corpses littering every stretch of open ground.

Everything replayed itself in his mind.

He had killed the Ant Queen in King Alverion’s tomb.

He had passed over the Royal Drone Egg when he extracted from her corpse, choosing Carapace Skin instead.

He had burned the side tunnel where a golden striped drone stared at him with hatred and thought that was the end of it.

And now the creature that had survived stood before him as a king, using his last breath to ask for a future Gabriel had already tried to erase once.

From his own perspective, he had never believed he had done anything wrong. Resources, opportunities, and survival had always been things fought over by the strong.

Yet from the perspective of the ant race, they had lived beneath the earth until something stronger decided their bloodline was inconvenient.

Neither side was innocent.

The only thing that was wrong was a world that made extinction the price of survival.

The silence continued for quite some time before Gabriel finally let out a slow breath as he nodded.

"All right. I promise you. When everything here is over, I’ll check the brood trench myself. If any of those eggs are still alive, I’ll take responsibility for them."

"I’ll find them a place far from human roads, somewhere they can build a colony without marching on the wasteland again. I’ll protect them until they can survive on their own."

Upon hearing those words, the Ant King’s tense body slowly relaxed. His eyes, which had already begun to lose their light, quietly gazed at Gabriel.

After a brief silence, a faint smile appeared on his face. It was incredibly weak, yet it came from the bottom of his heart.

"How... ironic... Throughout my life... I hated humans more than anything."

"I always believed every human was greedy... hypocritical... and cruel."

"So I swore... no matter what happened... I would never trust a single word spoken by any human."

He paused. His voice became softer and softer.

"But now... I don’t know why... I am willing... to trust you... just this once."

"I only hope... that I have not misjudged you."

As the final words fell, the Ant King slowly closed his eyes.

At the same moment, the last trace of life quietly faded away.

His body collapsed onto the shattered earth and remained completely motionless.

The king who had fought until his final breath for the sake of his race had finally reached the end of his life.

Gabriel stood there silently, looking at the lifeless corpse before him.

After remaining quiet for a long while, he slowly pulled Crimson Judgement from the Ant King’s chest.

As the crimson blade left his body, streams of purple blood dripped from the edge, blooming like strange flowers across the cracked earth.

At that moment, familiar system notifications echoed inside his mind.

[Ding!]

[A massive amount of experience has been obtained.]

[Current EP: 15,000 points.]

Looking at the rapidly changing numbers, Gabriel showed little excitement.

He knew very well that although he had earned an enormous amount of EP from this battle, it was still not enough to fully extract the Beating Heart of the Dead God stored in his inventory. It would take fifty thousand EP to claim it, and there were only one hundred eighty days before the heart awakened and tore the continent apart.

If he spent a large amount of EP extracting the Ant King and the high ranking corpses now, his plan would be delayed again.

And the God’s Heart mattered more than any corpse on this battlefield.

Thinking of this, Gabriel gently shook his head and suppressed the urge to extract them immediately.

"Later," he muttered. "When I’ve accumulated enough, I’ll extract everything at once."

A faint ripple of spatial energy spread through the surroundings. The Ant King’s corpse, along with every high ranking ant body that still held extraction value, disappeared into his system space to wait.

Just as Gabriel finished, Sophie finally walked over from behind him.

She looked at the battlefield, a place almost unrecognizable from the campsite it had been before dawn. Scorched ground. Split earth. A path of corpses leading to the spot where the golden striped king lay.

She still found it hard to believe that the monster who had nearly crushed them both beneath his hatred had fallen to the man standing before her.

She took a slow breath, calming her heart, and finally looked at Gabriel.

In a soft voice, she asked, "What do we do next...?"
